  1. Yep, hook scratches. LC's are bad for that.
  2. Funny quote yesterday from Ben Matsubu who finished 9th at Falcon: "I had a rough day today because every time Big Show (Terry Scroggins) would catch a fish the lake level would drop about 5 inches." ;D
  3. We know RW......we know
  4. I would've probably asked him if he knew Mike Iaconelli. When he said "yes", I would have screamed NEVER GIVE UP! at him and told him that he needed to get up and start casting. You won't catch a whole lot of fish without having your line in the water.
  5. The STX is the best of all Revo's in my opinion. I've been using them since they came out and wouldnt consider another reel at this point, well, besides my David Fritts crankin' reels.
  6. I'm not real sure why they are so secretive either. I own at least one of ever series and a couple specialty rods (drop shot rod and shaky head rod) and I feel like the IMX series beats them all. I judge the blanks by what price range they are in when I notice they have something new out. Like on the Mossybacks.....I figured it was in between a GL3 and an IMX just because thats where the price is.....right between the two.
  7. Were you throwing heavy baits? My Premiers will make a sound like a rocket taking off when I throw a 3/4 oz jig or something else in the 1/2 to 3/4 oz range. I can't tell that the sound affects performance at all.
  8. Could be.....I have one and nothing about it really blows me away. I dont even like the color of it. ;D
  9. Yeah, Scroggins said he caught 3 - 10 pounders in the first 30 minutes today. Plus he said he lost an 11 or 12 pounder with 20 minutes left to fish. Holy crap!
  10. David Fritts Signature Series crankin' reels. I can cast farther than any other reel in my boat with one of the Fritts reels.
  11. With water temps like that, it's hit and miss at best. The early spring tournaments are like that. You dominate one, then the next one you blank, then you do well the next week. I would've approached the tournament as if the fish were still in winter being that the water temps were just above 40. I dont know what your fish were doing but here in Va, the bass suspend a lot during the winter to spring transition. Winter to prespawn transition is tough on me too. Its mostly a timing thing. You'll get 'em next time.
  12. I am a Cumara owner and for a short time, I had some Carrot Stix to use this winter, (thanks again Tin, you da man). I think both are very comparable in weight and sensitivity and if you look in the right places you can get a Cumara for just about what a Carrot costs. I dont think there is a clear cut winner in this fight as far as performance. Price-wise, the Carrots are the better deal but like I said, look around and you can get a Cumara for around $150.
  13. I bet Ish is really mad now....Elias just won it with 132-8. Over a 6# per fish average. Unreal. Falcon must be a big bass factory.
  14. I use them. The Skinny Bear Elite Footballs to be exact. Skinny Bears are top quality jigs. I like the hand tied, fine living rubber skirts and the hooks are great. Its quickly become my favorite jig. I like the brown/green pumpkin best with a chigger craw trailer.
  15. The same thing happened at the Classic with Alton Jones (who won it) and Peter T.....Jones had the earlier flight on Day 1 and got there first. Day 2, Peter T had the early flight and beat Jones there. I guess they handled it a little better than Elias and Ish did. But the same thing happened, Jones and Peter T found the same hole in practice. Things may have been different if Peter T had been in the first flight on Day 1....he may have walked with the Classic trophy. Martens and Velvick were sharing the same spot the first 2 days at Falcon, looks like Ish and Elias coulda, woulda, shoulda worked something out so they could both share the area. Well, Ish seemed like the one who was really miffed about it, which is understandable when you drop out of the Top 12.....I think Elias got into his head a little bit.
  16. So what are you complaining about? Those dinks like to get up in the bushes too....you won't have any trouble finding them.
  17. No kidding, Falcon definitely has a pile of big fish in it. Some of those guys are culling 5 & 6 pounders.....must be nice! Kennedy can kiss his record goodbye.
  18. Berkley Power Bait Chigger Craw, draw 'em in with the rattle, the Power Bait scent will take over once they get a sniff of it.
  19. Carolina had 12 points after 15 minutes of play......SAD!
  20. HEY! whats going on here ;D Yeah, whats up with that? I'm not making out with any of you guys no matter what you buy from me OR how much you spend. ;D
  21. I throw the *** baby bush bugs anytime except at night. I throw the regular *** at night because it moves a lot of water.
  22. Awesome! I really like those Spidershafts....they get harder and harder to find every day. Oh yeah, the STX aint bad either.
  23. As mentioned before, if the bass are on the bottom, (which they should be fairly close to the bottom if your buddy was catching them with the texas rig).....I'd stick with the jig and put on a Berkley Chigger Craw on as the trailer. They cant resist the Power Bait scent once they get a good "whiff" of it.
