  1. Yep, I didnt get any of my regular Bassmaster issues last year. Turns out they were sending them to 1580 ....St instead of 158....St like they were supposed to. I did however get every issue of Bass Times right on schedule. Explain that one......Bassmaster couldn't. ;D
  2. I don't think the bluebacks are cooperating yet to get that "good" topwater bite. Could happen before the end of the tournament though. Ol' Denny Brauer is leading after Day 1 ..... 5 @ 22# KVD is 21st I think Ike is 83rd
  3. Welcome!
  4. Welcome!
  5. Thanks for the help guys but with the list of promises LBH just splattered on here, how can we compete with that? Heck, I'm voting for LBH now!
  6. Where's the love?
  7. And if you decide on something else, go with that. Excellent idea Micro! ;D
  8. Thats the whole deal with the SK Red Eye shad baits. When you pause it, it actually has a swimming action when its sinking, unlike the "sinking like a rock" action of a regular Rat L Trap when paused. If you look up the Elite tournament that KVD won in Florida either last month or February, he tells you all about the unique action. I would've never bought one if I knew nothing about the downward swimming action.
  9. I have the 7'2" jig rod and love it. It's hard to put down.
  10. I own several of each. No problems out of any of them yet. Best reels I've ever fished with. And since money is no object in your case, buy one of each.
  11. Its just that time of year, bucks are plentiful and the females that have laid eggs already are just starting the recuperating process. It will get better soon. Good report Sam.
  12. Last year I had a small one eyed largemouth in the livewell that I needed to cull out. The whole time in the livewell, maybe an hour or so, he was freakin' out, knocking the lid up, makin' a bunch of racket, just rippin' around in the livewell. Finally I caught a better one and I was able to cull the little fella. I throw him back, mark my board, re-rig my fluke, the whole time thinking.....he's gone, thank goodness, some peace and quiet again. Well, the very next cast I skipped under a dock and saw a flash, fluke disappeared and I flipped that same little one eyed dude right up on the deck. He had swam straight to the nearest dock, set up beside a post and was actively feeding after just being thrown back from the livewell maybe one minute before. As far as male bass on beds, they'll bite over and over. There have been instances where I've caught the male 2 or 3 times in a row and finally just had to put 'em in the livewell for a minute while I worked on the female. If I had casted to the male for 8 hours straight, he'd eat it all day long.
  13. I'll check around for you. I'm sure you can get into something, probably something out of Parkway Marina going on. I know for sure of one on Sunday May 4th at the Hardy Ramp (very upper end of the lake) $30 a boat, usually 20-30 boats. Limit 5. Safe light - 2pm. Anglers Choice tournament was today out of Parkway, 25# won it.
  14. It's that time again. Our newest BR Elite Member. Stacy was an obvious choice. He is always one to offer solid advice, honest opinions and if you've read any of his posts, you can tell, he's one of the guys that was raised by the old saying... "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything". Whenever someone has an issue or problem posted here on the forum, Stacy will always chime in with some positive words and good advice. He's a good guy to have around and he delivers a breath of fresh air to the forums with his good spirited posts. We're honored to have him here. Now, can we get a big round of applause for our BR Elite Member for May....Stacy Abbott aka Fisher Of Men.... General: Name: Stacy Abbott Age: 38 City/State: Decatur, Texas Occupation: Middle School Science teacher/ Bi-vocational music minister Education: B.S. in Agriculture Science and Technology- East Texas State University (now Texas A&M- Commerce) 1992 Years fishing: Pretty much all my life (probably 35 years) Preferred style: (describe a day on the water) Just being on the water. Seriously, being able to catch at least four or five and a keeper or two is nice. I am purely a recreational fisherman (although having team fished some VERY small tournaments years ago). I am concerned with the experience more than the catch, although landing a 10 plus pounder would be an awesome experience. Personal: Favorite food: I can't narrow it down to one, but here's a few: steak, anything Mexican, Lasagna, Pizza Favorite movie: "Saving Private Ryan" Favorite quote: "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." Jesus Christ in Matthew 4:19- The Bible. Fishing: Favorite bait: T-rigged plastic worm Favorite set up (rod/reel): Curado Baitcaster/6'6" Berkley Series One MH rod. Favorite lake: A small private lake in Wise County (North Texas) approx. 15 acres Favorite hobbies other than fishing: Hunting, swimming, camping, playing the guitar/singing, sports. Here's Stacy and his daughter Lindsey 10 People you respect and/or admire: God Jesus Christ My wife, Leigha My dad, Stanley Abbott My mother, the late Shirley Abbott (1943-1987) My grandfather, D.J. Preston, Jr. My high school ag teacher, Butch Milford Senior pastor and co-staffer, Bill Cleveland Faithful friend and mentor who led me into the ministry, Bob Gilley Billy Graham Turn ons: People who are genuine and honest. Turn offs: Fake personalities, fronts, and politically motivated people. Aspirations: Continue to grow and mature in my faith, become a better fisherman, and enjoy life. Stacy and his daughter Essay: What are some of the major factors that have affected your life. A brief history to help us understand the road you traveled to become the person you are today. Please include influences. Having grown up in a small town with middle-class parents who worked hard for everything we had, I learned at an early age to be happy with what I had. At the age of 7, I found out my mother had cancer and grew from a boy to a young man watching her battle cancer several times. In August, 1987, cancer would take my mother's life, but not her spirit. Her perseverence in spite of her affliction has since motivated me to take on any task head-on and that my strength comes from God. I have learned far more lessons in my life from the many failures than I have ever learned from the victories. After her death, my father and I both faced our demons as we battled dependencies (mine on alcohol and his on drugs and alcohol). By the grace of God, I found a beautiful and wonderful partner to share my life with who helped encourage me and re-establish my relationship with my father. After being married in 1991 and finishing college in 1992, I have since taught vocational agriculture to high school students and am now teaching science classes to 7th and 8th grade students. I am also a part-time staff member in our church ministry where I work with children and youth. Fishing has always been a place of escape for me. It always seems that frustrations can be cast away with your line. Throughout my teaching career, I have taken many of my students along with me to share my passion for the sport. I encourage all of the younger members here on Bassresource to keep their heads held high, to stand up for what they believe in, and never give up!! Thanks for participating Stacy! The BR Staff
  15. Looks like a 2 pounder to me, nice looking fish.
  16. That right there is what we call a PRE-DINK!
  17. Why build them here? A refinery in India is being doubled in size to provide 5% of the worldwide demand of gasoline. Why import oil and then refine it here when we can just import the product that we want (gasoline)? I don't care where they build 'em, just do something somewhere.
  18. The part that strikes a nerve with me is that the people who CAN do something about it, dont give a hoot about whats going on. I hear that part of the problem is that we cannot refine it fast enough. Why not? This is America people....BUILD MORE REFINERIES! A news report said that we've not built any new refineries in what 30+ years??? Why not??? Looks like Uncle Sam would be willing to cut Exxon or whoever a tax break (like they need a tax break posting multi-billion dollar profits PER QUARTER) for them building a few more refineries. SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE!!
  19. Good luck Will, hopefully you'll get paired up with some top guys. Be sure to give us a full report when you get back.
  20. I'm definitely doing the lower rpm thing a lot more now except on tournament days.....which adds even more pressure to finish in the money. And I hear a bunch of you saying "something has to be done" and I whole-heartedly agree....but in reality, what can be done?
  21. GAMBLER ....woops, my mistake, that wasn't one of the choices. If it was my money and had to choose Ranger or Triton, I'd have to go with the Ranger. The Z's are flat out awesome, especially the Z520.

I caught a largemouth last Friday that had red eyes. No doubt it was a largemouth.....maybe he had a long night the night before and just needed some Visine.
  23. 5bass replied to PWE's topic in Fishing Tackle
PWE, you should consider taking *** ***....they are much cheaper and last a whole lot longer than the name brand senko. I have a friend like that too. He is under the "stickbait spell"....topwater early and stickbait the rest of the day no matter if he's gettin' bit or not, it seems as though he's forgotten that he has a boat full of other lures and plastic baits.
  24. The Spot Remover is not a shaky head. Its a standup head. A regular shaky head would be better for the 3X worms, they are a little hard to rig up without sticking a hook point through them. The Strike King shaky heads have been getting decent reviews and I like the looks of them with the 60 degree hook angle.
