I'd check them the next time you go out for sure. If you put them in a good spot that is intersecting with the current phase of the fish in your lake, they should be there.

Yep, it was a 1 day tournament.....and I'm adding a correction - the winner had 27-5. Looks like there were several guys doing things right with so many bags over 20.

Any of you northern guys fish this place? I was just scanning through the BFL results from this past weekend and there were 29 people who had 20+ pound sacks on Burt Mullet....the winner had 26+. You guys keeping a secret up there or what?

I use GMAN's jigs too. Good quality jigs, no doubt. If I can only talk him into getting some frog hair round rubber skirts. Hint, hint, hint.

I'll take Chris Jones to win....oh, wait a minute, he's not in this one. I guess I'll take McClelland then. He's hard to beat on a deep bite. And what about Starks on Wheeler this past weeekend? That guy had "the spot". He claims for the first 3 days he only made about a total of 100 casts and just laid back and guarded his honey hole the rest of each day. Then on Sunday he went head to head with KVD and beat him by a 1/2 pound or so.....Starks could be a factor.

Because the market price of unleaded gas is not dropping. Oil prices are only one portion of the total price of gas. It is a leading indicator, in that as the price of oil rises the price of gas typically follows and vice versa. However, it is just an indicator and not a driver. Unleaded gasoline is also traded on the NYMEX. If order to see what the retail price of gasoline is going to do you need to look there. So you are saying that a barrels daily ending price, no matter higher or lower than the previous day, does not 100% make the pump price go up or down? Thats funny because in the past few weeks when the barrels were ending higher and breaking records daily, the pump price was going up daily also.

The plan to take just one lure per trip is an excellent way to learn it. If you decide to learn/practice that way, its good to try to do it during the times of year that each bait should be most effective. You obviously dont want to take a jerkbait to the lake when the water is 90 degrees and the fish are 25' deep and glued to the bottom. It takes time to get it all done but once you start catching fish with each bait your confidence will start going up and all the different baits will get easier and easier to fish.

I heard this brought up on the radio the other day and I had the same feeling then as I do now.....I do not care what other countries are paying for gas. I live in the U.S. and what people in other countries pay for gas has no bearing on my life or wallet. I'm tired of hearing that it could be worse because of what other countries are paying. Gas where I live is at or over $4 a gallon, how much worse could it be really? And instead of saying "it could be worse" all the time, we Americans, who live in the "greatest country in world" should be saying, "why aren't things getting better"? With oil ending cheaper than what it has been in recent weeks, why isn't the price dropping at the pump? Lord knows that the first time a weatherman in the Gulf predicts 20mph winds or a lightbulb at the refinery goes out, the price will shoot up 20 cents in less than an hour. I just don't get it. Crooks!

I don't ever get to fish matted grass or lily pads so flippin' is not something I have to do a whole lot of. Pitchin' lighter baits is easier with a rod that has a little softer tip in my opinion. I am currently using a 7'3" All Star ASR MH. It's been a nice surprise for under $100 bucks shipped and gets the job done just fine.

If Fleury keeps making big saves like he has been, anything is possible.

I'd like to see McClelland win it.....he's one heck of a fisherman and has seen some tough times throughout his pro fishing career.

Now THAT was a good game. Fleury pulled the Pens from the jaws of death several times. That kick save on the 2 on 1 was one of the best saves I've ever seen and I've been watching hockey for over 30 years. Nice game Fleury!

Faber is lightning fast....and his elbows are devastating. He put one heck of a lump on Pulver's left eye with an elbow, then he just kept poppin' it with the left jab and left hook the rest of the fight. Congrats to both guys for taking 25 minutes of pure abuse. Great fight.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Then I just figured he hooked into one of his monster bass sometime last week and is still fighting it.

I believe Fedor and Sylvia will be fighting under a different organization but I can still see Fedor being in the UFC eventually. Fedor is going to KILL big Tim. I bet Tim isn't sleeping too well these days with Fedor on the horizon. Faber vs Pulver is about to go down here in a few minutes on Versus.....this should be a decent fight if Pulver can keep it on the feet. Faber is no joke though.....thats one 145 pound dude that I wouldn't mess with. ;D As for the Kimbo fight being rigged......I can see that. Elite XC's maiden voyage in prime time TV and their headliner gets beat by a chump? Not. Elite XC knows that Kimbo is their meal ticket at the moment, they're not going to let him lose against someone he's supposed to pound into the ground. I sure wish they hadn't stopped it.....Thompson took some big shots and kept coming.

The hoopla when the fighters came out was WCW'ish and just plain stupid. Baroni took about 10 minutes to strut to the ring like he was some pimp strollin' down main street.....then when he made it to the ring, he got knocked out. Lawler vs. Smith was a good fight....both of those guys are legit MMA fighters. I was a little bummed that they didn't get to finish their fight.

What did you think about that show? I was less than impressed and whoever said Kimbo can hang in MMA, might want to get him some training on the ground before he gets killed. Kimbo got lucky.

Having tedonitis in both elbows, the lighter weight rods and reels help my situation tremendously.

I agree with this. Sustained wind over a few days does wonders for the bite where I'm at.

I'm not Dinkmaster Burley but yes, the DF76 is the one. If you've never seen/held one in person you should. It's a little beefier than any graphite crankin' rod so it will obviously be a little heavier, plus its ugly as ..... just check one out before you buy it. I don't want to be accused of giving bad info if you don't like it cause its ugly or heavy. ;D I think you'll be pleased with how it fishes though.

I'd probably start with a slow moving crankbait or spinnerbait just to "search" a little bit.....then once I found something, I'd probably end up with a jig or a carolina rig in hand. Fish tend to suspend a little bit after the spawn around here so I never rule out a hard jerkbait. An *** *** is effective on post spawners that are suspended also.

RW, I had to laugh when I read that.....but you forgot to say "thank you, I'll be here all week....and please tip your waitresses" Seriously though, I hope you are right. I can't take the blatant price-gouging much longer.
