  1. That's true.ABA struggles to get anybody to show up to one of their tournaments around here. The merge should be very interesting to say the least. The BASS Weekend Series definitely needs a kickstart but I'm not sure that ABA is the answer.
  2. Thats very true. I am guilty of that 90% of the time.I'd probably get more bites if I could pause for that long every time.
  3. I thread 95% of the time. The other 5% is when I'm using real pork.(It doesnt thread well if you havent noticed) If I feel like the fish need a bigger profile,I'll just straight hook it. Threading it assures that it is always in the same spot once it hits the water. One thing I make sure to do when I'm threading a trailer is to do it to where the hook is barely under the skin of the trailer after I get it in position.Too much plastic in the throat of the hook reduces the hooks effectiveness. If you have the bulk of the trailer on the outside of the hook, you wont have to worry about it getting in the way when you drop the hammer, plus it will help the back end stay up and your jig will be less likely to roll on its side.
  4. Are you sure you dont say LOO-AH ? I thought northern folk didnt pronounce r's. ;D
  5. Well its finally going to happen.Hughes and St Pierre are going to pound on each other Saturday night.Should be one heck of a fight, its been brewing for a long time.I'll be watching and pulling for Hughes. In the end I think Hughes will keep the title. He's just too strong for St Pierre in my opinion. Tim Sylvia is fighting Jeff Monson Saturday night also in another Title fight. Not sure how that ones going to shake out but I'm pulling for Monson.....Sylvia is just way too conservative and his last couple of fights have been extremely BORING!
  6. Welcome, you've landed on the best bass fishing website around. We're glad to have you.
  7. I have an Aqua-Vu Scout XL. I bought it mainly to look around and under docks, just because my lake has so many.It really helped to eliminate some docks and find a whole lot of really good ones that have brush and other cover. In the summer I use it every now and then to check brushpiles. When looking around docks I attached my camera to a 10 ft length of 1/2" conduit so I could eliminate handling the cord by hand. The conduit made it 100 times easier to use.If you angle the cam just right, you can stick the conduit way back under a dock(at an angle) and get decent views of whats under them,as opposed to just holding the cord and dropping it at the side. The conduit will also make it easier to keep the cam pointed at what you are looking at.Without it,the cam just sorta goes where it wants to,especially if you have lots of cable out. That can make it confusing when its underwater twisting in circles. Someone mentioned water clarity.Thats an excellent point. If you're going to buy one and expect to see all the way across the lake bottom with it,save your money. In clear water its obviously better but you still cant see all that far, maybe up to 10 ft at most, thats with lots of sun on the water and the water being clear.Even if the water is clear and you can see 10 ft away, the screen is so small that you really cant tell whats what. I think once you use it a few times you'll find that it is almost a pain in the butt to use and you wont use it as much as you thought you would. The one sodaksker was talking about would be my next choice,if I ever chose to buy another one. The underwater cam is a good idea but it does have its drawbacks.
  8. The bucket of cement is the traditional method we used in Brooklyn's East River. Nike Air Concrete's? ;D
  9. *********APB********* The 2nd annual BassResource.com roadtrip has just been changed from Lake Fork to VARNER..... ;D WAY TO GO RANDALL!!
  10. I plant 'em almost every year.....usually in the winter when I'm bored.I use cinder-blocks & wire, buckets of concrete and even rocks with heavy copper wire and usually put them at least 12-15 ft down, out of sight of other anglers. The best places I've found is on the ends of main lake points whether it be on one of the sides (usually on the down-current side if water flows across the point) or right on the tip.A few more good spots I drop 'em is anywhere a creek channel comes near the bank, around deep docks and right on top of any offshore humps that I locate.A big flat is not out of the question if it has deep enough water to hide a pile. Any structure you can find that doesnt already have brush,PUT SOME THERE.

  16. Be sure to look at a few Gamblers......
  17. I didnt look at his site but I do stick with my opinions and comments.......no BMC or AOY for Chapman.
  18. In my neck of the woods, spinning gear is used for SOME soft plastics but definitely not on a carolina rig.I'd never even consider throwing a rig with a spinning rod.
  19. Heck, with a tube that big you can just pitch it on their head and knock 'em out......they'll float right up.No real need for a hook. ;D
  20. If its not STRAIGHT DOWN and has any sort of slope to it,a jig would be a good choice.Let out plenty of line and let the baits weight work itself down the slope.

Just as GW was getting at.....you still have to get them to bite. You can find fish all day long but making them bite all day long is a whole different story.
  22. OUCH! :-? Let's keep this civil RW.....no punching below the belt.
  23. The same Steelers who lost to the Raiders? I'm glad someone mentioned that! The Raidaaaaaz are on a roll ! Just win baby!
  24. I'd hardly call a Bassmasters Classic winner and current AOY a flash in the pan.....who is Chapman kidding? Is he for real?I'd lay money right now that he will never win either title.
