  1. Thats a possibilty....did you fish from the bank at all?
  2. Yes....switch them. I prefer medium glass rods for mid-depth and deep cranks and medium light for shallow cranks especially if its a graphite rod.
  3. Valascus, a spinnerbait is good to learn dont get me wrong, but the carolina rig will flat out load the boat in a hurry when times are tough......I hate throwing a c-rig as much as the next guy but when you need a bite,it will often get you one. It takes every ounce of patience that I have to throw a c-rig more than a dozen times in a row but it's worth it most times.
  4. I have 2 flippin' rods. One is a Kistler Helium 7'6" XH and the other is a G-Blanks 7'6" H......both are extremely light and super sensitive.I prefer the 7'6" just because thats what I've always pitched with,I feel comfortable with the longer rod and can accurately pitch farther with it.
  5. Well put DMB.I agree.
  6. Cool video once again.....I told Santa at the mall that I wanted a camcorder for Christmas. He better come through! I know where he lives. And to all the new members - Welcome to the forums!!

    NICE!
  8. I own 2 Helium casting rods and 2 spinning. They are seriously light and very sensitive. They have good power and I really like the no foregrip design.Only knock I have is that what they rate as HEAVY has just a little too much tip for my liking.I had to go XTRA HEAVY to get an actual HEAVY (in my book). Other than that,I'm looking to get a few more......something to put my new Revo's on.
  9. I have had pretty good success with a Storm Jr. Thunderstick (suspending) in cold water and especially in rivers.....the river you fish is one of those. Other than the Jr Thunderstick,I like KVD's Wild Shiner also in cold water. It's bigger than the T'Stick Jr but has great action whether you fish it fast or slow.As with most other jerkbaits, you can control the aggresive action with the speed you jerk and pause.I really like the Pointer 78 in cold water too and I feel its the best for deadsticking.Even the slightest twitch on a Pointer makes it quiver.
  10. No kidding? You dont know what you're missing!
  11. I'd buy the 2 stroke.....
  12. .....yep,and as soon as I win the lottery I'm loading my boat with both the rods AND reels!
  13. Sounds like a wake bait. Thunderstick,Redfin,Little Mac,Big Mac etc..... Does it have anything written on it anywhere?
  14. There are a few articles about flippin and pitchin in this website's articles section.Good stuff, check it out.
  15. I hear you man....actually I'll probably buy one of each brand and give them a workout and see what I come up with.
  16. I knew the ringleader of the Shimano Posse would check in at some point. ;D Looks like I'm going with either Shimano or Okuma.
  17. Is there something that you need to work on or a certain bait you need to get familiar with that you feel will help your game? In 2006 I had my mind set on getting back in touch with my jigs (havent fished them like I should for 3-4 years) and also to give tube baits a legitimate chance.I accomplished the jig part with good success but hardly even tried any tube baits.I probably threw a tube for a grand total of 30 minutes this whole year and switched colors 3 times in those 30 minutes.....just didnt give it long enough to work. In 2007,I'm going to give the tube baits another shot.....my home lake has too many docks to not be throwin' a tube at some point.
  18. What he said.
  19. This thread has officially run its course.
  20. I have. That is one I have my eye on.
  21. I'm looking at changing my spinning reel set-ups here soon and I'm trying to get some opinions and ideas of some I should look at.The main things I'm looking for is that they be as light as possible and have silky smooth drag systems. I currently have a couple of Pflueger President spinning reels and also 2 Shimano Sahara's which are my regular use reels but both are a little heavy.Obviously the Stella and Steez reels are on top of the pile but I cant justify their prices.
  22. I have an old Browning rod that needs a new handle. Its probably 15+ years old.I have removed most of the cork (man, that was a tough job) but i would like to get the excess glue off the blank.Any suggestions on that other than sandpaper?Maybe some type of chemical?
  23. I will run and gun anytime the bass may not be moving alot and are more likely to be holding on a point,on a brushpile,on a hump or ledge etc....I move from spot to spot but I stay on each spot for at least 20 minutes.Kind of like "hurry up and wait". In the spring or fall,I will burn the banks because the fish are more likely to be roaming shallow looking for either a place to spawn or something to eat.Thats when covering water pays off the most in my opinion. If you cover enough water during the times they are shallow, you're bound to run into some fish sooner or later. Hank Parker is one that comes to mind that always covered lots of water with a spinnerbait. That was his philosophy......cover as much water as possible. It worked for him.
  24. Yeah, the DD22's run 14-18'.There has been a book published in the past couple of years that has almost every crankbaits depth. The guy who wrote the book tested several thousand cranks and recorded all his findings.I'll try to figure out the name of his book and post it up. Here's the link to that book....it's at the bottom of the page http://www.precisionangling.com/books.html
  25. Good point EW. I also will take into consideration the amount of water that I cover with a bait before I switch. If I'm running from spot to spot (points, brushpiles) I switch lures more often until I find the right one.10-12 casts with a bait then switch it up for 10-12 more etc....Sometimes I find the "right one" quickly, sometimes not. If I'm just beating the banks I will change about every 15-20 minutes and I often will fish previously productive banks back and forth with different baits on each pass.
