  1. If your water is still cold during the spring and its around spawn time, the fish will still try to move shallow just because the length of daylight getting longer affects their instinct to spawn. They may not stay long but they will go shallow and roam around.....its their nature. The length of daylight thing is more dependable than water temps although both affect the fish.
  2. I find that the baby bass color is MOST effective when the spawn has come to an end,the males are done guarding the beds and they start eating whatever they can find (lots of times its baby bass that they eat). Thats about the only time of year that I throw the baby bass patterns.
  3. Dream trip ? Any of Bill Dance's stock tanks will do.
  4. Projected #1 Wide Receiver yes..... And RW, I agree. Florida plays in the toughest conference in college football, cant argue with that.....they play heavy hitters on a regular basis.I look for it to be a close game for about 3 1/2 quarters, then Ohio State pulls away late.
  5. flechero, the lizard point you made is a good one. I do use a short leader with them, usually 12" and that also goes for any creature type baits. I'll go up to 3 ft with the finesse worms and french fry's depending on how close to the bottom the fish are when I mark them.
  6. After that totally unnecessary break (50+ days).....the National Championship will be decided tonight. Ohio State is favored by 7 1/2 points. Any predictions? I say Ohio State wins by more than 10.
  7. No....I dont watch his show and havent for a long time. Last I can remember he was Shimano this,Shimano that, buy Shimano,Shimano's the best, cant beat a Shimano and on and on. *** MODERATOR NOTE *** Just goes to show you, "back in the day," he must have had all his ducks in order! - RW 8-) *** MODERATOR NOTE *** Maybe he did but now he's found even better reels to pimp. -fivebasslimit
  8. I am partial to the 3X stuff.....mainly the lizards. The 3X baits float like a life vest. In my opinion,a bait that floats well is key on a c-rig. Another thing to watch for is that if you're getting bit but cant hook up.....the fish may be hitting your weight. If that happens, use a heavy jig as your weight.
  9. Dont you roll your eyes at me! ;D
  10. I wonder what Shimano thinks of their poster boy now?
  11. Man thats a big fish.....obviously the camera is very close to it but WHAT A FISH!
  12. It's all about getting where you're going the fastest way possible.....in a tournament you dont have time to be put put putting along. Time is valuable when you are fishing "against the clock". Its a must on big lakes because you dont want to limit yourself on where you have to fish....you want the whole lake to be available to you,not just the sections around the ramp. You simply cant cover a big lake with a slow boat. Like someone mentioned above, some of the pros are traveling 20-30-40 miles one way to get to the honey hole.....thats alot of water to cover. And a bigger boat in nasty weather is obviously safer. Obviously my opinions are only during a tournament situation, you can catch a fish from any kind of boat, just like you dont have to use Shimano high dollar reels to catch fish.
  13. Yeah,Sylvia wouldnt be jack if he wasnt so tall and his arms weren't 20 ft long each. You could take a 25 minute nap and not miss anything during one of Sylvia's fights. I'll be glad to see the belt get taken from him and so would Dana White although he probably wouldnt admit it. The UFC has to schedule 2 title fights on PPV when Sylvia fights just to get enough people to buy it. Liddell could fight CroCop if CroCop comes down to 205,which I feel like he could. Rampage beat Liddell before but that was a long time ago and Chuck has way more game than he did then......I believe Rampage had been fighting a while before he fought Chuck that first time. Should be a good one either way. Did anyone hear that GSP wont be fighting Matt Serra next month? I thought I heard that he got hurt during training.....I was looking forward to that one.
  14. Well,it seems that Craw is being a little shy about what really went on so I'll let you in on his secret......he knows his stuff, plain and simple. He could've taken anybody out and they would have caught fish,40 degree water or not. The first stop we made the fish immediately started bitin' and that partcular hole produced over 50% of our whole catch. Craw knew where they were and they couldnt hide. Craw has a real nice boat and the jet motor is the only way to go on the river,I'm conviced of that. I was very impressed at how well we floated down and never got turned around,we were always in position to catch a fish. Thats not the easiest thing to do in a river with strong current. He's a master at boat control being in such current, going up and down falls, the fish have no chance really. For such a nice guy,he really puts the hurtin' on some smallies. At one point during the trip, the bite just shut off. Craw says "I gotta find a black jig",about 4 casts later, there was a smallmouth flopping at the boat and another and yet another. The guy can flat put 'em in the boat with the jig! And the next time my phone rings and Craw says "Lets go fishin"....I'll be going. I dont pass up a free guided trip. Believe that. It was a great trip all the way around. Hopefully he'll be coming to Smith Mtn in the spring for a little largemouth action and I'll probably try to talk him into a tournament once he gets down here. ;D We'd make a good team no doubt. Thanks for taking me Craw,I enjoyed it.
  15. I think Alpster said he has one.....and I dont doubt that.

Yep,them some good'uns.....see you in the morning Craw!
  17. I own the STX's and the S models.....have both in front of me and have fished both already a few times. They are both the same size. Not sure about the SX but I dont see it being any different in size. There are some frame and cosmetic differences but overall size is the same. I recommend any of them.

  19. The Raiders fired Shell after one agonizing season.....he was a great player in his day but a head coach he was not. He did okay the first time around coaching but not good enough to be re-hired this time. The Raiders will most likely have to promote from within due to the fact that the Raiders coaching job is probably the least desired HC job in the entire NFL because nobody wants to deal with 'ol Al Davis. "Just wince baby" :-[
  20. HA HA....there's a guy in my club that has some of those Catera's and he swears by 'em. He always told everybody about that F&S test but nobody ever believed him. ;D ....thats funny,I'll have to mention that the next time I see him.
  21. He'll be back in a year or two somewhere and be richer than ever.

The same could be said of TBF clubs. In Indiana many TBF clubs don't even meet. They simply just put together a state team. That makes them a Federation though huh? Duke, I'm not sure if you saw the post I deleted but I wasnt dogging BASS Nation.....as a matter of fact,I'm a member. I had put up a link to the ABA/BASS WE Series instead of the Nation......thats where BillyBob's comment came from.

    Not much. ;D
  24. First off,60av8tor,welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you! Well,my new boat goody is actually pretty cheap compared to some of the other things in this thread......here's my next purchase http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=1052&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults ....those things are slick!
  25. I'm like cart, buy and sell all the time. If you watch eBay enough you can find some smokin' deals. Back in November I bought a Kistler Helium LTA 7'6" flippin stick,"used" but the handle wasnt even dirty for $112. Guy had fished with it for about 4 hours. Biggest problem I have with eBay is shill bidding.....you can tell who's doing it and when you report it to eBay,they dont care....the higher the bid goes, the more money they make.
