  2. davis, most of the time when someone starts a thread about one of the lures mentioned above it gets ugly. The thread gets hijacked and the products get dogged out before it's all said and done. You have one or two people defending the infomercial baits against 50 that swear it's crap. It's a no-win situation, no matter who is right. We may start calling it the BANNED-JO MINNOW....how's that?
  3. This was taken directly from the FAQ's.
  4. Buoys will help you tremendously and anchoring on a good spot is good too, you just have to find the right angle to hit your spot. Current has a big effect on what they do, when they eat and where they set up. If you cant get bit with a deep crank, a rig, a jig or a big worm, move directly on top of the fish where you can see them on your graph straight under the boat. If they are suspended more than a few feet off the bottom, drop a jigging spoon into the strike zone and see what happens. If they are closer to the bottom, drop the drop shot on 'em and let it soak. Dont catch 'em all.

The little 4 hr 'shootouts' probably aren't the best tournaments to start out with. Most guys that fish those have some fish pinpointed, just waiting on them to get there. It's certainly not impossible but it IS hard to just go out and start looking for fish in a 4 hr tournament and do well against the more experienced guys. 4 hrs goes by like 20 minutes when you're bass fishing....you have to haul @#$ straight to your spots and start putting fish in the boat immediately. But....as with any tournament, always remember, it only takes 5 good bites. Good luck.
  6. We didnt even have chicken..... Why not? No expert cooks in the group?
  7. Good luck with Gambler's website....it hasnt been updated since 03....thats the year model of the 2200 in the pics on there. You'll be lucky to get someone on the phone that can help you at all, even with the simplest of questions. Gambler really lacks in website and phone interaction, believe me.....but the quality of the boats makes up for where they lack in other things. They obviously like to keep overhead to a minimum. I'm a big dude too and the cockpit is a little cramped for big fellas but it's manageable. I dont have any issues driving the boat at all. I'd rather have a single console but the singles are hard to find, heck, any Gambler is hard to find at times. Both Gamblers I've had have been dual consoles. Dual looks better than single but that extra console gets in the way sometimes. As with any boat purchase, get the motor checked out and dont settle for anything less than what you want.
  8. If you're watching tournament coverage to learn/get something out of it, you shouldn't be paying that much attention to the announcers anyway, at least not enough to be annoyed about it. The mute button works wonders. I use it all the time whenever Michael Irvin is on TV.

I love Jackall baits. The Cover Craw is a great bait if you fish around overhanging trees and docks and such.....it floats away from you and under the cover. Very good bait that has a nice texture sort of like the Yamamoto Plastics. The Flick Shake worms and the Wacky Jig head combo has been a big producer this year. The little wacky jig head and unique design of the flick shake makes it look like its being electrocuted when you give it a good shake. Both the wacky jig heads and the flick shake worms are worth every penny. The Aragon crankbait is a good one. I've been catching some good quality fish on these, especially when I fish stained water. The clicking sound draws 'em in from a long ways off. Excellent quality hooks right out of the package and the paint on these things has been really tough so far. The Squad Minnow did great this spring when the fish were just moving up. If you could find a group of fish, the Squad Minnow would take care of things. Nice, quick, erratic roll. Jackall Muscle Deep series cranks. Great baits. A little smaller profile than others in its class but the action on these is for real. The Muscle Deep 15+ is my favorite Jackall bait out of all of 'em.
  10. For me at least, Tennessee Shad is by far the best color LC puts out.

  12. I have a 04 2200 / Merc 250 EFI As far as quality goes I dont think you can beat a Gambler. Everything about the boat is top quality and very well built. I've been in boats that ride better in rough water but if you get enough time in the seat, you can make the ride a lot better. I would suggest looking for a 2100 or a 2200. The Intimidator leaves a little to be desired from what I hear as far as space, ride and speed. You might want to check the HP Rating plate on that Intimidator, I'm not sure they are rated for a 250. I think that is only for the 2100 and 2200. You should be able to find a good deal on one right now, there are several around for sale. The only negative thing I have to say about Gambler boats is that the livewells could be bigger and set up a little better. Plus the livewell pumps are mounted kind of high under the back deck (to allow easy change outs) and when they turn on, they are kinda loud.

  14. I thought that's what the pockets on my cargo shorts were for. Heck, I'll get back home and pull out handfuls of line, cigarette butts (dont like tossing them in the lake), hooks, empty plastic bait bags, crankbait boxes, cracker wrappers, sinkers, used up plastic baits, sunglasses, JJ's juice, you name it. Good post FC.
  15. Hopkins is the ones I mainly use. It's a jigging spoon, not a casting spoon. It gets down deeper, faster. And what Quinn was doing is how I do it also. Watch the spoon on the graph and put the spoon right in their face. If they're close enough to the bottom you can do the same with a drop shot. Drop it, watch it, put it in their face.
  16. Wow, Jimzee is still drinking! Do work son!

  18. Dude(s).....Get a room! I've got $10 that says Burley catches the most dinks this weekend. Any takers?
  19. You call catching dinks a workout? And isn't 15# line a bit of overkill? ;D By the way, got the cranks today....thanks!

  21. Over the weekend, the Elite Series fished the Mississippi River in Iowa. Coming out of the lock, Marty Stone lost control of his boat and threw his marshal overboard. Marty Stone filed a complaint with BASS against Tommy Biffle and Alton Jones because they didnt stop to help the marshal get back to Marty's boat. BASS penalized Biffle and Jones one hour fishing time on the final day. Biffle claims that when he came upon the accident, there were already 5 or 6 other boats there helping out, so instead of stopping and further clogging the area, he kept going. Same thing with Jones. Biffle claims that the one hour penalty probably cost him the tournament....he started the final day in 2nd place. Biffle is mad.
  22. Congrats on the win! ;D Maybe you should get everyone to pre-register and pre-pay next time.
  23. 100% shad spawn. During this period it's best to find some smaller schools of shad away from the massive schools and fish around those. When you get shad bunched up like you're talking about, it's very difficult to get bit. If you go back, you might try a jigging spoon just below the shad.

  25. Big O knows how to design, market and sell quality baits. Thats about all it is to it. All the positive posts you see about the Rage Tail baits is proof that his baits are excellent producers. Keep it up Big O!
