  1. Muddy speaks the truth. I bought them way back when and they were terrible. The action was decent but that was overshadowed by the idiotic way you have the rig them. Senkos and Flukes will out fish the Banjo Minnows all day long. Spend your money on these instead.
  2. Anyone heard of this thing? "This weapon injects a freezing cold ball of compressed gas, approximately the size of a basketball, at 800psi nearly instantly. The effects of this injection will drop many of the world's largest land predators. The effects of the compressed gas not only cause over-inflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea. When used underwater, the injected gas carries the predator to the surface BEFORE blood is released into the water. Thus giving the diver added protection by diverting other potential predators to the surface." Here is a video of this thing in action: http://www.waspknife.com/video_watermelon.php Thoughts? *edit: I saw that it was briefly mentioned in a previous thread so I apologize if its old news.
  3. I think Berkley has deeper pockets that Loomis. Then you could say you caught it using Berkley 100% fluorocarbon on a G-Lomis rod
  4. I would get it certified and then donate it to Bass Pro. They have a program where if you donate them a trophy fish for their tanks, they will give you a replica mount for free!!! (I think I saw this in the beginning pages of the 2008 master catalog) I would definitely do things this way. Those fish are definitely pampered and I believe I would be leaving it in very good hands. Plus, I could visit whenever I wanted.
  5. Day and Night watch... lol It looks really neat though.
  6. I really like Mike McClelland but I voted for Kevin. He's on a roll and is about to start fishing some familiar water. I can see him winning another AOY.
  7. Raff out Roud. You guys crack me up...nice catch.
  8. Hey, I know what you are going through. I lost one of mine when I was 18. Just hang in there. Fishing is good for ya. Fishing in the rain is a lot of fun. The drops on the water breaks up your image so you don't have to worry about spooking the fish so much. If its possible, I would try fishing under overhangs too. The rain knocks lots of little critters into the lake and the bait fish come and feed on them. The bass usually ain't too far behind. Small crankbaits work good here as do plastic worms.
  9. It probably just needs a minor tweak. When you depress the string it is buzzing against another fret somewhere on the neck. I would say your bridge needs raised just a touch but let someone at a guitar shop do it.
  10. Anyone into Frampton? I saw him at a Nascar Busch series race at Kentucky Speedway and he put on an awesome show. Pretty much an hour concert for free.
  11. The reason people like a fast reel with worm fishing is because they can make multiple presentations fairly quickly. The fast reel is only for retrieval purposes in this case. When you fish the worm, you are still letting your rod do most of the work and a slow presentation is just about more than most bass can stand. The high speed reel shines in two departments. First, if you do not get bit, you can reel in and quickly make another presentation. The other advantage is that if you do get bit and the fish is swimming toward you, you can catch up to it easier and adequately set the hook/fight the fish.
  12. I have had this bookmarked forever. It really works...my first ever senko fish came using the procedures and techniques roadwarrior describes in this thread.
  13. Man you really have a knack for this stuff...good job. I always look forward to your posts because you have some really cool designs.
  14. Hey, count me in fellas. This sounds so fun.
  15. Wow...now there is something to aspire to. What a wreck. I will never understand how someone gets that drunk.
  16. Thats pretty odd. I have never had that happen to me for sure. Just one of those things you don't think about until it happens. I hate killing fish...it really bothers me.
  17. lol...I think we have established that this is a great bait.
  18. Not necessarily, I like to fish with the absolute best I can afford, it can take me months of saving by the pennies but at the end it has been worth all the time and effort. I think I do understand where you are coming from. And once again I am not trying to put down anyone who prefers fishing with G-Loomis gear. We all experience different things at different levels of collecting our tackle. While nobody technically needs expensive tackle its something that adds enjoyment to our hobby. And enjoying what you are doing is the very foundation of fishing. In the mean time, I am going to have to find me a buddy with some G-Loomis rods and see just how good they are.
  19. When you engage your flipping button, the spool reacts to the thumb button differently. For instance, in normal situations when you press the thumb bar, you disengage the spool until you crank the handle enough to engage the spool again. That means that you can press the thumb button one time and line can come off of your spool until you turn the handle. When you select the flipping button you now have to press and hold the thumb bar to disengage the spool. If you let off of the thumb button at any time, the spool is automatically engaged...this way if you get bit as soon as your bait hits the water you can instantly set the hook without worrying about engaging the reel with the handle.
  20. As you have already stated, todays baitcasters are a little more user friendly than those older types...any decent baitcaster will probably serve him quite well actually...The citica seems to be the best deal though even though I like the Revos more...there is no way you can get as nice a quality reel for 70 bucks otherwise.
  21. Hey, if you have seen my pictures you would know that I would rather eat my food than throw it...so I am not meaning to start anything here...fact is, if I could afford them, I would already have them...and one of these days, I am sure that will be the case. I didn't mean to sound pissy towards G-Loomis. As far as looking at them and handling them in stores, I never could figure out why they were three times as expensive as everything else...store testing isn't a fair trail anyway and I know that...but I guess I am saying that on my current budget I cannot justify spending 350 on each rod...But at the same time, its also like everything else with a big price tag...part of the reason people buy Ferrari's is to say they have a Ferrari...
  22. Ain't nothin' wrong with a little Pink Floyd...I could listen to Gilmour all day long...be it vocals or guitar.
  23. I really dig the organization there....Its nice...you can just go in there and grab what you need and replace it later...I am on my way to accumulating that much stuff...someday...
  24. When I was younger I saved up money from cutting grass and bought myself a banjo minnow kit...I was so excited when it came...I watched the VHS (which was pretty much the infomercial), and got everything rigged and ready...only fished them once....biggest pain in the backside ever.
