Jig trailers
At times I use ***. They're heavy enough, thick enough and it's something the fishies don't ever see.

Hooks for Plastics
Download and print this chart. It must be printed to be the correct scale. *Note* The sizes on the chart are accurate, but different manufacturers size their products slightly different. Example: An Owner 4/0 hook may be slightly different than a Mustad 4/0, but not by much. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/Content/Parts_Sizing.htm

Motor overheating
This is where one of these would be helpful: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000O80B5M/ref=asc_df_B000O80B5M1020031?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=googlecom09c9-20&linkCode=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B000O80B5M These have come way down in price over the years and can pinpoint many different engine problems, including hot/cold spots, dead cylinders, etc. If you had one you could confirm if your new gauge was defective or not. I hope you have a bad gauge and have not cooked it.

I need A New Spinning Rod=Which Of These 3 ?
The St. Croix Triumph is an excellent rod at that price range, plus the five year warranty is a nice incentive. I have a 6' 6" spinning model going on 4 years old and I like it a lot. Obviously not as light and sensitive as my Avid, but not bad at all. Another thing to consider is the Triumph has been around a while, the ones you're looking at are all new models without a track record.

Feathered hooks on poppers ?
Being that bass only see the bottom of a popper (or most topwaters for that matter) I'd rather have a dressed treble adding a little flash more than worrying about the overall color.

Feelin' for the southerner's
Y'all drive carefull now, hear ?! Most people up here can't drive worth a d**n in the snow and ice and we get it way more than you guys. The laws of physics STILL apply in spite of all wheel drive, ABS, four wheel drive, etc. Slow down.

Wally-world Clearance
I shop Dick's the same way. Inventory varies by store, as does clearance items. One in particular has all of their Excalibur branded (Bomber) hard baits for $2.97 ea. The Wally Worlds in my area suck eggs as far as fishing inventory.

what to do with old unused fishing line?
Using it for backing is the best way to go IMO. You already paid for it, why throw it away ? If you do decide to get rid of it, put it in a container like an empty milk jug so nothing can get caught up in it.

Women Section
The phrase "Shut up and get me a sandwich" should never, ever come out of your mouth in the presence of your lady friend before, during or after your fishing trip ;D IT WAS A JOKE. PUT THE GUN DOWN LADIES.

Work ethic
Helluva, my apologies as far as the consultant thing goes. My consultant experience goes way back prior to my current career (diesel mechanic) when I worked for General Electric in the late 80's - early 90's. That's where I dealt with the "Office Space" class of consultants ;D It was back when they were ushering in that 'go team go' way of workplace thinking in an attempt to emulate what the Japanese were doing at the time, which was basically your life was centered around the company and you never, ever questioned authority. Sorry to lump you in with "them".......

Rapala Original Floating Minnow Customization - IMPORTANT
I've got a couple of them with the lips broken off. I saved them to use kind of like skinny 'walk the dog' baits but have not got around to it yet. Has anyone else done this ?

Mepp's Bucktail Spinners?
Ooooooh...I like that. I rarely order from Cabelas, but I may have to place an order for a few of those...if I can't find the pieces to make my own. Easy. 3/0 EWG hook, a split ring and a Mr. Twister grub. I just finished putting one a 1/2 oz. Rooster tail. It looks good.

Work ethic
No one wants to do actual work anymore. Everyone wants to be a supervisor, boss, organizer, consultant, etc. They wanna tell everyone else how to work without doing any themselves. Too many chiefs, not enough indians. Most larger companies are top heavy with people who do no tangible work. They produce nothing and they contribute nothing. Yet they're well versed in telling everyone else how to be more efficient. These are the ones generating memos that no one reads and implementing policies that make no sense. This started a long time ago IMO. I remember one of the guidance counselors in high school saying in so many words that anyone that didn't attend college was doomed, and I quote, "To be a grease monkey", a derogatory term for a mechanic. That cracks me up to this day. I see that attitude all of the time. Not all, but many people with a degree have an arrogance about them I can't stand. They have a misguided sense of entitlement that they think earns them a spot in the front of the line. College is fine, in fact I'd love to see my daughters attend one day. But it was never meant to be a get out of work free pass.

Ultra Lite rod
BPS has changed the Microlite this year and last year's model is on clearance. I picked up a 7' ML two-piece model for about $28 a couple weeks ago. Stuck a used Pflueger Trion GX-7 4730 from the Flea Market on it, spooled with 20# PowerPro and a 6' leader of 6# mono. Light enough for 'gills/sunfish, but heavy enough for small pond bass. Total investment: about $55, including the line. I've got one of the old Micro Lite ul's with a 4725 gx on it. If only that rig could talk, oh the stories it could tell.......

Work ethic
What happened to it ? I've been doing work at an Amtrak maitenence yard for a couple of days now. This is a facility that performs track inspection and repairs. I was talking with one of the shop foreman and the subject of jobs came up. He told me they have a bunch of new hires ready to train on the track maitenence machines. Then he said a bunch of guys quit before starting when they found out the hours, which are primarily nights and weekends when rail traffic is slowest. I can't figure that out. In the worst economy in decades and record unemployment, people still turn down work. This is no low paying job and the benefits aren't too shabby either. Are we really that soft ?

Do we Make Fishing Too Complicated?
When I'm on the jon boat (no electronics) I have my soft sided bag that holds four 3600 series plano boxes. That's it. My baits cover top, mid and bottom. I carry three rigs max. When I'm on the bank I have a vest and a little pocket plano box. Occasionally I carry a backpack. I never bank fish with more than one rig. I've been through that phase of trying everything that comes along. I stick with what works for me. There really isn't anything new anyhow, it just gets repackaged every few years and touted as new.

New domino's pizza
It is what it is, a cheap meal quick. Here in Jersey there are pizzerias every 20 feet and most of them suck. It's hard to find a good one.

Hardest week of my life!
I quit cigarettes cold in 2001 after about 20 years. Then a few years ago, like an idiot, I started on little cigars. I sucked those down like candy. This past November I got a nasty case of bronchitis. I had to use an inhaler for a couple of weeks until it cleared up. I'm not sure if I caught it or the cigars brought it on, but that's all it took. I dropped them like a rock and haven't looked back. I'll tell ya what, I put aside what I spent a week on cigars every payday. It's only been two months but I got a Revo STX, a Falcon rod and a load of baits for the upcoming season. Maybe something like that would motivate you to stick with it. Best of luck to you.

Sniper show
Anyone catch "Sniper: Inside The Crosshairs" on the History Channel ? Man, this show blew my mind. They featured, among several, Carlos Hathcock who shot an enemy sniper through his own sight and out the back of his head in Vietnam. They also had Robert Furlong, who killed a Taliban member from 1.5 miles, yes miles. Supposed to be the longest kill shot in history. I know jack squat about firearms, but this show was fascinating.
