  1. flouro all the way. Switch over and dont look back.
  2. Yep, this is one of my favorite places too. Especially for the more in depth technical questions on stuff.
  3. I've tried it a few times and no luck yet. havent given up though. I know it will work.
  4. This style with the 28-30 deg is fast becoming one of my favorites especially in grass it just seems to pull through alot better. but it is hard to beat this style on the bottom.
  5. Is it 28ga wire?? I've been wanting to give this another shot too.
  6. I agree, went through the same thing. As I got older and grew up I was still a little guy in my mom"s eyes. Your growing up and wanting freedom from the nest. She is just missing hanging out with you. Just my opinion but if you really are fishing that much I would slack a bit and hang out with mom some. Might not make alot of sense now but later down the road it will.
  7. Thats cool. Whats the letter B stand for?
  8. Have you ever felt Tungsten/Braid? You can pretty much feel what the fish are thinking. Add a GLX to that and you can feel the fishes heart beat. When the beat increases get ready to set the hook. He'x coming for your lure. LOL Tungsten is far superior to lead. I wont go back to lead bullet weights
  9. option 1: Strap the wife to the top of the car like a christmas tree, and angle the rod from the passanger seat to the back of the vehicle. 2nd option: What Ronnie said. I built one of those for shipping rods to MI. I would go with this option. Option 1 might not go over too good.
  10. I've noticed that too. its like a majical temp that just about everything works.
  11. At what water temperature do you guys typically start making the change from a jerkbait to a crank or rattle trap. For me its usually high 40's low 50's where I start seeing the bite change. Just looking for your opinions.
  12. Your senko technique is completely different then mine. 99% of my senko'ing is done with a BSR852 which is a medium action and 8lb line. From this: And the lb line you use My response would be 844. IMO its heavier then I would like for the open water but I do not like the 843 in heavy weeds. It doesnt have the backbone I like. When I do throw a senko into weeds/ but not thick I do it on my BCR853, In heavy stuff I go 854. Since you want to stay with the MBR series I'm saying go 844 especially with that line weight and thick weeds.
  13. I wonder if Ronnie knows what he got himself into. Fell sorry for the guy. Muddy and Avid on the same tour bus. Oooh thats going to be interesting to say the least. Good thing they take afternoon naps. LOL
  14. How many of you guys use these? I've used a few and prefer them over the round ones. Do you guys put them on the hooks of a crank too or just the line tie?
  15. Thanks guys, I couldnt have said it any better then that. Like Craw said it just eliminates bulk from the jig. When the bite is light its an excellent presentation. I catch more fish off a jig like that then the fully skirted jigs.
  16. Better change his name to Avid Spinning fisherman. That bsr852 is the best rod I've ever used. Its a great senko, fluke, small jig rod. Just fishes so easily.
  17. Great jokes guys. Hilarious.
  18. Pr844 imx with a diawa tdx, 10lb flouro, bandit 300
  19. When I painted them it blobbed. Is that even a word :-? I tried a round ball with a 4/0 basically an eakins style like in my avatar but it didnt work as nice or the angle of the bait to hook didnt appease me. I do have some 3/0 but havent tried those.
  20. took 2nd place. I gave a few of these heads that I made to a good buddy since I havent been able to fish them yet. Low and behold he took 2nd place in a tournement last weekend. After he told me this I was proud of my work and new I was onto something good. I was as happy as a kid in a candy store. He said that the poison head pulled through the weeds real easily and didnt catch alot of them. Plus that widgap hook and the angle that the bait sets is just perfect. Just an update too for Harshman if you havent fished yours yet. So down to the caster I go to make more of these things. I also found out an easier way to paint them. Dont dip the whole head just shake it up to the spring and stop. You guys might be doing this already but if not theirs a little tip for you. No more breaking paint from the springs.
  21. 99% of my skirts are cut behind the hook about 1/4" Jigs and S/B
  22. Wish my tied skirts look like that. After about 10 I gave up. Great tie. Warning, Pouring and jig making is addicting.
  23. Me too, I have about 1k of AA's laying around collecting dust.
  24. I've been reading everything on here and other boards on wacky rigging. To keep my word to another member, I need more info on this techinique. What ever you got. Nothing held back. I'm going to fish this this year and catch fish. Tips, tricks, locations, favorite hooks, line, etc. What ever you got.
