The do's and donts of boat launching
Everything that needs to be done is done before getting to the ramp. I have some what the same fear too about the bow strap. I stop right before the water and undo it. Some of our ramps are kind of steep and I just feel better undoing it at the waters edge. We had a guy in the club years ago who backed it down the ramp too fast with the bow strap undone, locked the brakes and slid in some gravel and dern near dropped it on the ramp. This reaffirmed to me to never undo the bow strap until the tires hit the water. With all that said the guy was a idiot. Backing down that fast was dumb. His rig was only 2 years old top of the line Nitro. From what I saw that poor boat go through in just one year if it was offered to me at half price I would of had to pass.

Chickahominy Lake vs. Chichahominy River
Just curious. I have never fished Chick but a good friend of mines Dad is in a club that always go to Chick once a year. Is it as full of snakes as I have heard?

The do's and donts of boat launching
This is the way we have always done it as well. We call it the float and catch. I get someones attention allready in the water that it is coming and to watch for it. Once parked and back to the dock just put the thumb out and hitch a ride out to your boat. Always worked great except for one time down at Gaston when the wind was blowing 20+ mph. If there are two of us. Once started down the ramp less than 2 minutes. I am always as quick as possible at the ramp.....it is my #1 pet peeve!

Waning Interest?
For me its just a shift in priorities. I have fished every since I can remember. I have a 4 yr old. A wife who works way too many hours and go's to school full time. Before my son was born I was on the water at least once and most of the time twice a week from March until November. Now, I get to just show up and fish 15-18 tournaments a year. I am lucky to get to just fish 1 time a month now that is not a tournament. Watching my son grow up, keeping an eye on him and things running at home are the priorities now. The fire for fishing still burns. I am just biding my time hoping my son develops a love for it as well. Although he has allready attended several soccer camps and loves baseball as well. I greatly look forward to being a soccer dad and hopefully coaching him in baseball ( I know nothing at all about soccer) I know fishing will come back for me sometime........I just hope when it does it will be with my son.

Comments?
Well, I bet Va takes a pass. It will probably have be up to Maryland. Va is in one of the worst budget shortfalls ever. They have closed the interstate rest stops for crying out loud! The VDGIF was ALWAYS at the bottom of the list for funding. The VDGIF has not recovered from thier African safari scandal a year or two back and I will bet you the majority of the VDGIF budget is spent on policing the idiots on SML.

You used to be able to buy around 3-4 minutes of Destiny for $20. I haven't been in one of those places in a long while but I'm sure that rate has gone up due to inflation. 10 bucks in WV. One of the many thing to love about West-by god-Virginia.... West Va's got talent! There was a AWESOME club over there in Bluefield. Religous groups burned it to the ground I went up there the next day and demanded that they bring me the pole from the ashes. I told them I had paid for it.......problem was I did not have any reciepts!

Buffalo Wild Wings
I put tabasco on everything. I have 10-12 bottles of other hot sauces that my wife complains about taking up too much room in the fridge. I will undoubtedly end up with a hole in my gut one day. Asian Zing and Mango Habenero my fav's for flavor. I did the Blazin challenge years ago. Blazin is hot but no where near as hot as Hooters 911. Not to mention death wish. Picked up some death wish wings to go once and had to ride home with the windows down cause it was making my wifes eyes water.

Ready for saturday
Amen to that. Had a similar conversation with my wife recently Except, I included every Thursday night and Saturdays from now til December. She was really cool about it she just said I know...I know time for you to talk to the TV in your cave. Also, a new addition this year. I put a 36 inch TV in my garage so I could work on my fishing stuff and still watch the games! Man, I love college Football!
