It really is. On a calm day you can see 8-10 feet deep. I like to snorkel around and actually see some huge fish cruising the weededges or hanging out under boats and docks.

Drove through a diving hurricane Friday night to get to the cottage. Well worth it. Third cast Sat morn. Bam. 5.3 Caught several more 2-3+ lbs. Then Sun. morn. Third pic. 5.9 First time using the Space Monkey. That bait is killer. Fourth pic- 2 more good size Space Monkey fish. Last Pic- The Red Badge Of Courage. Probably caught 100 fish Sat and Sun.

Agree with R.W. Spinning gear most likely is not the problem. I would look at hook sharpness. I take every hook and try to stick it into my thumbnail before tying it on. If it doesn't penetrate, I stone it sharp until it does. I believe I get a better hookset on my plastics with spinning gear anyway. I use 6'6" M.H. rod, 4000 Shimano reel, and 10-12 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid. As the rod is in my right arm and I am right handed, I get a very powerful straight 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock hookset. Hook is usually where it should be- top of fishes mouth. Rod speed is the key to any hookset but a dull hook will cause a bigger hole in the fishes mouth therefore giving it more room to work it's way out. JMHO.

Gotcha. Just confusing cause in the title you put fish other than bass and in the poll one of the options is bass. Seems to be getting alot of votes though!

I think "a good pair of cheap sunglasses" is like asking for "an honest politician" Although the word cheap is relative. I have a pair of Strike King Polarized clip-ons that cost me $11.00 a few years ago. I am probably going to upgrade to Cocoons over the glasses model soon. 8-)

I think if you want to match the hatch, you'll be better off with shad pattern baits. Bobby Lane used a swimbait and 10" worm to win the Elite Tournament there recently. KVD was second throwing cranks in Sexy Shad. Hope that helps.
