  1. There is a difference between slider fishing and just using Brewer Slider jigs... but to answer your question... yes. Right on the money. I do use the Pro Heads pretty often but do not use the technique too much anymore. Hmm.... Used to work. Why wouldn't it still work?
  2. Wow! Looks like me after all you can eat rib night. ;D great job.
  3. Not Catfish.
  4. I have a Lund on my Frontier. 4 clamps and it's on or off in about a minute. Plus you can fold it up and snap it so just the 1/3 near the cab is covered which is convenient at times. I did my homework on this. Got it at Amazon.com for $250.00 with free shipping. Check out StylinTrucks.com and then google the one you like the best to find the best price.
  5. Could be they lost it when the water level was lower also. That happens by me alot and I usually go "treasure hunting" in likely spots when the water rises and the fish aren't biting.
  6. You sure he wasn't just yankin' your chain?
  7. Fall, winter and early spring would be good times.
  8. Speaking just for myself. I have found that frog fishing and buzzbaiting produces better overall size of bass than any other techniques. Depends on the body water you fish. JMHO
  9. I could be wrong, but I believe the Lindner brothers and In-Fisherman coined the phrase "Catch and Release" prior to B.A.S.S. adopting their own phrase "Don't Kill Your Catch" I have been a subscriber to both mags for as long as I remember. But you could be right, MOOK. After all, you are a bit older than me! ;D Anyway, I keep all fish that are gut hooked and/or bleeding badly. After cutting the line on a guthooked and bleeding bass some years ago only to find him washed up on shore the next day with hook still intact, I realized it would be a waste to release a fish that had a very high probability of dieing anyway. Get a few on tipups in winter pike fishing that swallow the hook and I keep them also. They do taste good.
  10. I've been interested in these for some time now. The major problem that I have with them is figuring out how to store them! I use a spinnerbait binder to hold my buzzbaits and spinnerbaits and they won't fit in there. I fish from shore so tackle that is easy to pack up and carry is critical. Are these really worth the hassle of finding out how to carry them around? I have a Plano box that I store my Spinnerbaits and Buzzbaits in. http://www.planomolding.com/tackle/products.asp It has 6 rows of grooved hangers. For the double bladed baits, I just notch the grooves deeper with an Xacto knife and they hang fine. Might be alot to lug around from shore though. If you can figure out a way, I think you won't be disappointed.
  11. More size usually = more weight. O.K. Get your minds out of the gutter! I don't pay much attention to the weight but rather the diving depth and the size of the bait.
  12. I usually stick to the open edges near the slop at night. Popping frog would be excellent choice. Buzzbait or Jitterbug too. Nothing like that explosion right at the boat in the pitch black night to get your heart started. My P.B. came on a 1/2 oz. black Buzzbait an hour after dark at the edge of a lillypad field. Good luck!
  13. Go ahead and rub it in Kelley! ;D I have to fight an army of jet skis and tubers/waterskiers like the rest of us weekend warriors.
  14. I prefer the double bladed style and believe it or not BPS 4X4 is a great bait. Strike Kings Double Take and Booyahs Bi-You are also good. Best ever were Roland Martins Double Buzzer by Blue Fox. I still have about 10 of them left, Cavitrons are O.K., but the claim of slowest would have to go to a double blade bait by far IMHO.
  15. Bobby- I'm sure all the baits will be top notch, like everything else you make!
  16. The only color I have is Black with Blue Flake. Great for skipping under docks and boats. More on order from T.W.
  17. Green trout? Are you dissing Largemouth? > Why not target Smallmouth? I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to catch a 5lb. Smallie.
  18. Real men eat it raw.... Wayne- Your chicken was just one of the many highlights I will never forget from this years trip. Meeting and mingling with all the guys is another. Dinkfest? 6-8 lb. Smallies can't be considered dinks and the largemouth are very underrated. B.A.S.S. held an event there in '07 and has one scheduled for '10. Maybe they don't know anything.
  19. Keep it simple at first. In clear water, use natural colors for your plastics and jigs like green pumpkin, and shad colors for cranks and spinnerbaits. Sexy Shad and similar colors work great in clearer water. Darker water go with black and blue for your plastics and jigs and chartreuse, chartreuse/white for spinnerbaits and brighter shades for your cranks. Branch out from there. Pretty soon you'll be like the rest of us and have 20 colors of every bait you own but only use a couple.
  20. Put in my order yesterday to get the 15% off. Now I've got to make room for all the new goodies. Cant wait to try the NetBait Mad Paca - a Brush Hog type bait that I got 10 bags of.

While going thru my 500 lbs of plastics deciding which to keep I found a bag of Fat Ikas, which I have never used. Due to R.W's posts on these (and everyone else's) I put them in my bag. After going 0 for 10 on docks with Senkos/Dingers, I tied one on backwards and got a keeper under the 3rd dock. Kept going and got 4 more and had a nice one wrap me around a post and come off. Perfect skipping bait with that slow near horizontal fall, away from the cast. I'm hooked! Kind of look like a Sea Anemone that you see on the Discovery Channel when you twitch them up but the fall is killer. If you haven't tried these, give 'em a shot. Don't look like much but man do they work!

Here are a couple alternative choices I use: http://www.fishingworld.com/Slider/Details.tmpl?ID=96851897317507&Cart=1246969424205654100&SKU=Pro%20Heads http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90001____SearchResults You can change baits quickly without fumbling with the weight and peg system.
  23. Excalibur XR50. Red Eye Shad. Cordell Super Spot. (old standby that keeps on working). I might be the only person on earth that has not caught a fish on a Rattle Trap. Just don't use them that much.

    X2 Chompers Garlic also.
