  1. It sure will! At least you guys have been to the big dance a few times in the last 100 years.
  2. Mike- If I remember you told me at Kentucky Lake that because of your advanced age, you already had both hips replaced.
  3. Don't worry, you will. I suffered a fall about 2 years ago and my back hasn't been the same since. No noticeable damage, just pain. I wear a brace when it gets bad but mostly I just sit back in my chair and go fishing. I stand when I need to but mostly sit. 40 + years of every sport except golf, and I'm taken down by a slippery ladder. :-/
  4. You're probably setting the hook too soon. If you set the hook as soon as you see the fish hit it then you're probably pulling the bait away from him. You have to give him a second to get it fully in his mouth and then slam it home. Sometimes it just happens. Last Saturday I couldn't miss. The next day I would let them take it as usual, see the line moving, feel the fish and only got 2 out of 10-12 bites to connect. Same setup, technique, different results. Even let one swim about 5 yards before hitting him and still missed. It happens.
  5. Which do you guys consider better for casting light (1/8-1/4 oz.) baits? Curado or Citica?
  6. Z's fine and will make his next scheduled start. .5 games behind does not mean you are dead. Well, maybe in St Louis it does. Still not bad for a team that has had at least one, and sometimes 2 starters on the DL for most of the year. Cards get a big hitting hired gun. Let's see if they pull away. Didn't Houston just shut them out?
  7. Not true. Just think about this logically for a mintue: The fish lives in water, their mouths are submerged in water, water dilutes acid, therefore any acid that would be in the fish's mouth would be quickly diluted and rendered ineffective. It is logically impossible for the inside of a fish's mouth to be more acidic than the water that they live in. The fish will likely shake the lure free the crank will then float to the surface and some other angler may find it on shore or floating in the middle of the lake and wonder how it got there. I agree with Tyrius on this. It comes into play more with the Nickel plated single and treble hooks though. They will eventually rust but if it causes the fish not to eat, it will perish. I've seen more than my share of dead fish floating or on the shore with a rusty hook in their mouth or throat. Some will make it, some won't. If I remember there was an article in In-Fisherman a while back on the acid/hook rusting debate to back up Tyrius.
  8. Before buying, I emailed the same question to the manufacturer and they told me shelf life is about a year. No special handling required but I suspect if you put it in something airtight, as I intend to, it will last even longer.
  9. I just bought a bottle specifically for the Rage Shad and Senkos and Ikas I've been going through. The Rage Shads tail seems to tear after a few fish and I had one tear on a swing and miss right after I put it on. The tail portion seems to be it's Achilles Heel. I hope Mend-It works. Clark might have a point with the violent tail action and B.F. makes no mention of Rage Shads. Keeping my fingers crossed as I have about 20 that need repair. One good thing is they all died in battle and took out some of the opposition with them.
  10. Looks like some stills from the movie "Deliverance" ;D Who got the honor of cleaning them?
  11. Looks long to me. I would say 6 or a tad better.
  12. I see this all the time. They cruise the shallows chasing minnows and whatever right up to the shore and busting them up. I let them have their dinner and leave them alone. It's also not unusual to see a group of 3 or 4 big ones cruising together. That's when I toss a senko out in front of them and pull it in so it will drop about a foot or 2 in front of them. Without fail, one will grab it, maybe just so the other ones don't get it. Like money in the bank. Solo big ones can be finicky. Most will at least take a look at the bait before ticking me off and swimming away but some actually take it.
  13. I use mostly silver double bladed buzzers and rely on skirt color. I don't think blade color has much effect as they are what's making the noise and surrounded by the "propwash". The bass usually doesn't have a whole lot of time to study the bait as it is whizzing by overhead and what he will see is usually the skirt if that. Use whatever color you have the most confidence in and you'll be fine.
  14. I use them on all my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits except the ones that have the Perfect Skirt, which has some of the skirt material hanging back to act as a trailer. I use BPS twin tail Cajun Trailers exclusively.
  15. Not being a Spro fan to start with, I too think they are a bit big and expensive. $12.00? The Snagproof Bobby's Perfect and Bass Kicker are big enough for me. I checked out the Ish's Phat Frog. $9.99 for some plastic and a hook? Plus they stole the name from Mann's. I have a couple frogs that are pretty round toward the back and use a treble hook that I think was called the Phat Phrog.
  16. We call them Dogfish up here. Got one over 10 lb last year on a buzzbait and thought I had a huge bass on. They tend to roll when they fight. You can lip 'em but they bite down so grippers would not be a bad idea. They don't seem to want to open their mouths when hooked so grab them hard behind the gills.
  17. I still use pork quite a bit. I transfer the baits from the old glass bottles to smaller tupperware containers. I think Uncle Josh has solved the lid welding problem by going to plastic containers.
  18. This one's pretty ugly.
  19. Just watching the video and seeing how much water this bait moves, I think it will be one of the hottest baits to hit the market in years. Day, Night, top, mid depth, slop, I don't see an application it won't work in except maybe as a deepwater bait. But I'm pretty sure someone will come up with a way to fish it deep and let us know about their success with it.
  20. Looks Like a Storm bait. Don't use them much but I did get a nice one last spring blindly casting it to known bass spawning areas. casts like a bullet if I remember. O.K. action.
  21. Great post. I must be old school also as I've been using Slider heads for years. Look up the SPHWG16-U and SPHWG8-U from the site Roger posted:http://www.fishingworld.com/Slider/Details.tmpl?ID=10144845751626346&Cart=12488153305079665&SKU=Pro%20Heads%2020 Good size (3/0) EWG heavier hook on the great spider head. Don't usually throw alot of cranks in the weeds as by me you can usually walk across the top of them but food for thought and I am one hungry guy!
  22. Bobby- Either clean your pool or stock it! ;D Looks cool. Any video of the Mega Dog?
  23. Sounds like a great day! I love sitting near what I call a minefield which is a bunch of bluegill beds and getting one on every cast. Best thing in the world for getting a kid interested in fishing.
  24. CWB replied to Big-O's topic in Fishing Reports
Gotta love it. Your heart is every bit as big as your desire to provide excellence in your designs. Can't say it enough. If there were more guys around like you, the world would be a much better place. My hat's off to you, Big-O!
  25. I'm going to get some Mend-It. Apparently the company was bought out and the bottle was improved so it does not evaporate and get hard. At least that's what they say.
