  1. Ive got a better idea....if your in a boat that goes fast enough to blow your hat off while your moving, remove said hat from attached head and re-install when you stop. I figured that technique out when I was very young...
  2. I use my Curado E5's and my Revo Winch...Both are fantastic reels but if someone said I could only have one of these two models to do all my crankin with I think I'd have to pick the Winch. Would be a very difficult decision to have to make cause they are both a pleasure to fish with but there's just something about the Revo Winch that works great for me!
  3. Kamiahkid, If that is in fact true then I would buy every one they had! I have alot of Kistler Rods (18) and I receive their monthly news letters that Trey puts out as well as frequent their website and I haven't heard a word about them changing anything. Chris W could you let me know where you heard about the change? I would be interested in knowing before I order a couple more during the off-season. The only thing I've heard recently is the introduction of their custom rods. Customers will be able to design the rod from the ground up. A regular price of $350 would have to be their top of the line Helium 2 LTX rod. I've not only ever seen this rod on sale but I've never seen it sold is a large chain store. What Cabelas is this? For that price, if they have several I'm up for a road trip!!!
  4. I did see a short feature on the American Rodsmith rods over the weekend while watching the Getting School'd with JP DeRose on the World Fishing Network. The representative from the company stated they were releasing a new line of rods with golf club type grips. I'm surprised this technology hasn't been tried by others in the past. Maybe it has and just didn't work. The guy did say that AR is the only company that uses this type of grip and that cork was a thing of the past. I would like to see what one feels like. I'm sure there's a difference in weight and balance from a regular type cork grip. Anyone have an opinion?
  5. I've bought from this company a couple times. Great prices on big spools. Fast shipping and it appears they are running a sale right now as a matter of fact.... Cheapest I have ever seen Yo-Zuri anywhere! http://www.fish307.com/
  6. I too am a flashlight junkie but I not only use them for fishing at night but have used flashlights as part of my job (late shift) for the past 24 years. Just got this email from a police supply company today as a matter of fact. If you want to buy one light that will probably last you forever buy a Surefire: Surefire Saint Minimus - LED Headlamp http://www.lapolicegear.com/surefire-saint-minimus-headlamp.html
  7. I can't seem to catch a thing on them either. It's not that I haven 't tried. I'm throwing mine in central Indiana. I too have mine rigged correctly! I really want this bait to work for me. I watched that Strike King sponsored show (I can't remember who was fishing with Mark Davis in that episode) that has been talked about here several times where they absolutely tore them up that day and it fires me up big time each time I've seen it! The next time I hit the water I'm throwing every color that I have for the first couple hours on the water and can't catch a cold on the things. I can tie on a Cavitron and do pretty well most days. I'm gonna keep trying them. Like I said, I really want this bait to work for me!!!
  8. Twitch, I already had a few Revo's prior to the announcement of the upgrades. Since then I've taken advantage of the sale prices that several retailers are running and upped my Revo arsenal to 6 Premiers and 4 SX's. Needless to say I really like the current models and have had no problems casting very lite baits with both models. Not sure how they can make them much better but if I were you I would certainly take advantage of the price's alot of places are selling them for right now trying to clear out their inventory to make room for the new models that are reportedly on their way. The last 2 Premiers I recently bought I paid $119ea after all the discounts were totaled. This is after paying $259ea on the first 2 that I bought over a year ago. It's hard to keep the monkey under control with a discount like that!! I don't think you will regret it. (Now if they would just mark the Winch down to half price! I love that reel!!!!!)
  9. hmongkidBee, Follow your own instructions above and look at the reel on the right and just below the Orra on the page that you advised us to open. Those are "round" reels. The Orra is not...
  10. Congrats on your new Kistler! You didn't mention if your new Argon is your only one but trust me if you fish much at all and or spend money like most people here do on fishing equipment it won't be your last. They are addicting!!! I'm currently the proud owner of 17 Kistlers and there are a few more that I really want. With the Magnesium TS your Curado matched up perfect but you do realize that there's no way that you can fish that pretty new bright blue Argon rod with a green Curado on it! Hahaha....You may as well start looking at another Magnesium for that Curado and start looking at blue or silver reels for your Argon. I went with the fabulous Revo Winch for my Argons. Perfect match! I do still have one of the BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series blue chrome reels on one of them. That new Pflueger Patriarch XT looks like it would be a really good match as well. I've never owned or even used a Pflueger reel so I can't recommend this one. I have 10 Curado E5's and E7's for my Magnesiums. I too have broken a couple of my Kistlers and have been treated very well by them on getting the rods replaced. The only negative (and it's more my preference than it is a Kistler problem) is that I bought the 6'7" Argon Spinnerbait rod. Didn't really pay attention before I bought it but it's a Mod-Fast action and I don't care for that in a Spinnerbait rod. I much prefer a MH Fast action rod for this technique. Its was really not a huge problem, I just have one more crankbait rod now. It's great for throwing lipless cranks.... Enjoy your Kistler(s)!!!!!
  11. This place also has very reasonable prices!!! http://www.bulktungsten.com/default.asp
  12. I have 2 LTA's. Both are 7.6ft Heavy Action Flippin Sticks. (16 other Kistlers) I LOVE them!!!
  13. I'm a huge fan of the Reel Grips and have them on all of my reels (spinning and bait casting) 18 or 20 sets I think. I thought I'd try the Rod Grips since I too don't care for the dirty cork look and they are advertised to improve your grip on the rod while your hands are wet. I ordered 5 or 6 of them just to make sure I liked them before buying one for all 18 or 20 rods that I currently use. I don't care for the Rod Grips much at all! My Kistlers are split grips and the cork handles taper on each end so they are too tight on one end and to loose on the other. They also add very noticeable weight to the rod. I put a couple on St Croix Avids with the solid grip and they fit OK but do in fact add unwanted weight. Like I said, I'm glad I only bought a few first to try them out. Probably won't be adding anymore to my equipment.
  14. KingBass, where is the link for the video?
  15. Come on Bigbub!!!!! Your going to have to provide a whole lot more info when asking an open question like that.....
  16. It looks like so far the F/XF tip rods are the most popular spinnerbait rods going. It's just interesting that some rod manufactures offer their whole line of spinnerbait rods in Mod-Fast action and then others are just the opposite...
  17. I've purchased a couple Kistler Argon Spinnerbait rods and have been pretty happy with their performance so far this season. They are both Med action with Mod-fast tips. The reason for my question is that I've noticed some upper end rod manufactures ( Loomis) list all of their dedicated spinnerbait rods with an extra-fast tip. This of course is just the opposite way of thinking from the manufactures that offer theirs in a Mod-Fast or at least a much slower tip. What do those of you that have dedicated spinnerbait rods prefer? My Kistler's having a slower tip kind of goes against the idea of slow tip for anything with treble hooks and fast/ex-fast for baits with a single hook. Just wondering what you guys prefer.... Thanks
  18. I bought one from http://www.gloomis.us/ a couple weeks ago for $139....Not sure what they still have. They were going fast!
  19. ArticCat500 I've run across several on-line sources that have the STX's and Premiers on sale for the same price, and a couple even cheaper, than TW.....just look around a little.
  20. I to recommend the Bass Pro Shops Extreme reels. I've had several over the years and never had any type of problem with any of them. They recently had some on clearance for $40. That's a great price for a 7bb reel! The Bass Pro Crankin Stick is also a good rod for the money. I'm not sure if they offer these two as one of their combo deals but like already stated they put them on sale individually several times a year.
  21. I have two Shimano Curado 200E5's but my new favorite slow ratio reel is my new Revo Winch...You will love this reel!!!
  22. How do you keep the water hot all night?
  23. I have 2 Kistler Helium LTA 7.5FT H/F that I use for jigs. Awesome rods!!! Have never even heald a Zillion or any other Diawa rod for that matter so I can't help you there...
  24. Your link doesn't open for me but if this sale is from Tackle Warehouse then I know, ordered one last night. This will be my first Stradic and I'm excited about getting it. I've read alot of good things about this reel and when I saw the sale for $100 off I couldn't pass it up...
  25. MgTBWWMH610S Magnesium Tube Bait Weightless Worm 6' 10" Medium Heavy Spin Fishing Rod. MgSWMH70 Magnesium Senko Worm Special 7' Medium Heavy Fishing Rod. I have both of these and you can't go wrong with Kistler!!!
