  1. My 2 recommendations would have to be: Shimano Curado 200E5 Abu Garcia Revo Winch
  2. I too used my Kistler Magnesium TS All Purpose Special 6' 9" Medium Heavy for spinnerbaits, with great success, until a couple weeks ago. I just got the Kistler Argon series spinnerbait rod. Its a 6'7" MH with a short split grip handle. I put a new Revo Winch on it and have only been out twice since getting it set up. So far so good! This will be my primary spinnerbait rod backed up by my Magnesium All Purpose on those spinnerbait days. The Argon is just outside your listed price range but they run sales on the website often. Once you fish with a Kistler it's hard to pick up anything else...IMHO
  3. Bassmafia, I too have the Argon 6'11" spinnerbait rod on order and am very anxiously waiting the big brown trucks arrival. I have the Magnesium Senko rod. I bought it early this year and have only used it a couple times (its crankbait season around here this time of the year) so far this year. Once the summer (slow finesse) pattern hits I'm sure it will get used alot. Enjoy your Kistlers!! I hope you don't plan on stopping at just 2...It's a sickness and you've been bitten!!!
  4. iFisch, I have all the different Kistler rods that have been mentioned here. In my opinion the MgAPSMH69 6'9" MH would be the perfect rod for the applications you need the rod for. I have 2 of these rods and have used them for everything from throwing light texas rigged plastics to throwing spinner/buzz baits. You will love this rod!!!!
  5. This is what I would do: Kistler Magnesium MgSWMH70 Senko Worm 7' fast Med-Hvy 9 " 1/8 - 5/8 oz 12 - 20 lb And if you wanted to spend the money to get one of the lightest most sensitive rods money can buy then step up to the Helium Series... He70MHC Helium LTA 7' Med-Heavy 7' Fast Med-Hvy 9" 1/4 - 3/4 oz 12 - 20 lb He70MHS Helium LTA 7' 7' fast Med-Hvy 9 " 1/4 - 3/4 oz 12 - 20 lb I have at least one of each of the 3 rods I listed and could not be happier with all of them... As with most big rod companies you can spend anywhere from $100 to almost $500 on a Kistler. I don't think you'll be disappointed...
  6. MgTWJBM68 Topwater-Jerkbait 6'8" mod-fast Medium 8 1/8 - 3/4 oz 8 - 15 lb Avail. MgSWMH70 Senko Worm 7' fast Med-Hvy 9 " 1/8 - 5/8 oz 12 - 20 lb MgAJSBSMH66 *Alton Jones Spinnerbait Special 6'6" fast Med-Hvy 8 1/4 - 3/4 oz 10 - 17 lb 11 of the 15 Kistler rods that I currently own are from the Magnesium line...For the $ I think it would be difficult to find more rod anyplace else. I've had alot of them! I have my first rod from the Argon Series on order (spinnerbait rod) and am excited about getting it. They are a navy (dark) blue so I already have a BPS Johnny Morris Elite Series (Blue) baitcaster ready to mount on my new rod when it arrives.
  7. It could mean....if you cast a Kistler Rod real hard little monkeys playing banjo's will fly out of your butt!!!! Are you guys serious???? Are you listening to what your actually taking time out of your life to actually sit and type??? If you like Kistler Rods (like I do) buy them, embrace them, use them, brag about them, show them to your friends, (watch for the flying pigs) fish with them! If you are hung up on where Kistler Rods are designed, engineered, inspected, hand crafted, assembled, made, put together, little flying pigs loaded in the butt section then don't buy Kistler Rods!!! Buy a different high end rod made by a different manufacture! You really don't have to be the "head cashier" down at the Walmart to figure this one out guys!!! Life is too short for discussions like this one gentlemen!!!! You can "what if" it to death...
  8. Our original open hook hanger design allows for quick and convenient hook storage, even without removing the bait or dulling your hook point! The Helium LTA® rods are designed, engineered and inspected at our office in the USA as well as hand crafted by our own experienced rod technicians here at our office in the USA, by Americans. As always, backed by our famous World Class No Hassle Warranty. Once again Reel Mechanic you know more about a companies product and their companies practices than the owner and CEO does. You probably should get with Trey and fill him in on how he makes his rods so he can make the necessary adjustments to his website....
  9. I currently have 15 Kistlers. Four of which are LTA's and the remaining 11 are Magnesium TS...Can't say enough about Kistler Rods! Give one a try....
  10. fivesixone , I've owned several of the "high end" (Loomis IMX, GLX, GL3, St. Croix Avid, Legend Elite, BPS Johnny Morris Elite, Shimano, Quantum, etc...) rods over the years. I've spent/waisted alot of money on "not so good" rods throughout my fishing life as well. As of last season I have traded/sold off everything and narrowed my arsenal to Kistler. I have some of pretty much all the models in the Kistler line-up with the exception of the new Carbon Steel series. I just really think that for the money ($160-$190) the Magnesium Series in the Kistler line is awfully hard to beat. There are so many good sticks on the market today and its gotten so competitive that its really hard to make a "bad" decision! I'm a believer in keeping things as similar as possible when it comes to feel so I picked Kistler and have been very happy!!! Good luck in your search! Don't forget to keep it fun!
  11. I think you owe it to yourself to look at the Kistler line up before making a final decision! I have a couple Magnesium MgAPM66S. These are great rods for the money!!! I have 15 Kistlers at this point and seem to buy another 3 or 4 every season....Awesome rods!!!
  12. Sounds like a pretty good point to me!!!
  13. I agree that if its better than the Hybrid it will be a great line. I put Hybrid on 2 of my reels to try it out this year. So far I've been very impressed!
  14. Anybody (RW) ever try this line? I know that the Hybrid is somewhat popular here with some (RW) people and I just wondered how this 100% Fluro fishes. I found a website that has 200yrd spools for $15.00
  15. Thanks for the reply ArcticCat500 !!! Its just really interesting to me that Loomis uses XF action in their entire spinnerbait rod line-up but most other rod companies seem to use a moderate-fast or moderate tips for their spinnerbait specific rods! Keeps the ideas coming!
  16. I noticed today while on the G. Loomis website that every rod in their Spinnerbait models have a XF tip. I own several Loomis rods and feel pretty confident they know what they are doing when it comes to rod blanks. I've actually had several people tell me that they would use my rod for a spinnerbait/buzzbait rod. I'm just still trying to decide what would work best for me.. Thanks for the suggestions so far!!!
  17. I can't believe nobody has thrown these in the hat so far so here it goes... Kistler Helium!!!!
  18. I recently bought some 3.5" and 5" Money Minnows. I think that I'll try throwing those with this extra-fast action rod and see how it works out.
  19. What application do you prefer a extra fast action as opposed the more popular fast action? I have a St Croix Avid 7ft MH Extra-Fast and don't know what it would be best used for. I've been told everything from buzzbaits to heavy soft plastics. I just thought I would post this question on here to see what you guys most often use your extra-fast rods for... Thanks in advance!
  20. [i]Used a 7' BPS Crankin Stik w/ Curado 200 5:1 until today... Just got home from Angler's World with a brand new 7'2" E21 Parabolic Carrot Stix. So, as of now my crankin' setup is a Shimano Curado 200 5:1 w/ 12 lb. Trilene 100% Fluoro and a 7'2" Parabolic Carrot... Blade-Runner To change lanes for just a minute....Isn't Angler's World the greatest little tackle shop in the world? Jack has more stuff in that little building than Dick's and Gander Mtn. combined!!! Any members here that are within 100 miles of Indy owe it to themselves to stop by this store. It's in Greenfield, IN. About 20 miles east of Indy. OK, back in my lane now...
  21. I started using Floro for jerkbaits the last few times I went out last fall and have used it the 2 or 3 times I've been out this spring. I had always used Mono prior to that. The Floro feels completely different than what I'm used to while working a jerkbait. I assume that's because of the reduction in stretch in the 2 lines. If I decide to continue to use the Floro, it's going to be a while before I feel as comfortable with it as I'd become with working jerkbaits on Mono for the last 20 years. I'm not saying that I don't like the way it feels, it's just considerably different! Thanks for your opinions so far...
  22. I seem to hear most people say they prefer floro for fishing jerkbaits because of its sensitivity and the fact that it sinks and will get and keep your bait down deeper. I read somewhere lately that this particular author always uses mono because floro makes the front of the bait sit with the nose of the bait (because the line sinks) lower than the back of the bait while its sitting there suspended between jerks. He stated that mono makes the nose of the bait sit up higher because the mono is trying to float. This author seems to think that the nose (front) of the bait sitting up higher draws more stikes. Just wondered what you guys prefer and why...
  23. Take it from someone that's owned and fished most all of the high end rods over the last several years. (Loomis, St Croix, Kistler, Falcon, BPS J. Morris) Kistler Magnesium at $179 is the best value out there. I own 10 of them!
  24. I bought 3 of them last year when they were on sale for $60. So far Im very happy with mine. I only use them on my crankbait and spinnerbait rods. They are just as smooth as my Curado 200Ds and my new 200E and my Revo SX, STX'S and Premiers. They may only last a couple years but hey, at $60 I'll throw them away and buy some more! Very much worth the money!!!
  25. I went with the 5.0 when I bought my new Curado 200E a few days ago....I find that I can speed up my retrieve alot easier than I can make myself slow down a little.. Just a personal thing!
