Good Eye That's a fairly rare west coast jigging rod - I used to work in a tackle shop and ordered it from a dealers catalog. Has no reel seat and is very heavy action - super stout - like a pool cue. Worked perfectly for heaving the 3 ounce bucktails I fished. A-Jay

I really do like starting a new reports thread, mostly because it means that I actually went fishing. Since that's not happening anytime soon, I figured I'd throw one up just to stay in practice. Don't really remember if any of these were actually on a Thursday or not but here's a green one & a brown one and just for the heck of it, a striped one. And for those poor souls in the same boat, please feel free to pile on here - hopefully it will ease the pain a little. A-Jay
  13. ^^^^ This X2 ~ Nothing else needs to be said. A-Jay
  14. The 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Crankbait has been Very Good for me. And although not a "silent" bait, it does have a very subtle sound. Not like the traditional rattle produced by steel beads against the plastic body of the bait, but more of a subdued thumping. Don't know for sure but it sounds like a single perhaps rubber coated ball that IMO is just enough. The 5/8 oz size is a little bigger, cast well and does seem to draw strikes from the slightly better than average bass on a regular basis. This bait works very well at both a very slow speed and being burned as well as anything in between. The color patterns are great and the Bluegill has been the top producer for me. A-Jay

Has started to climb back up a little here - $2.19 A-Jay
  16. It's not a stupid question at all and your reason is sound. Many anglers prefer a longer or shorter handle. Check out Hawgtech after market reel handles. They are a sponsor here and make an excellent product. https://www.hawgtech.com// Availability will be dependent on the make & model of your reel - A-Jay
  17. Interesting question and one I don't remember seeing here; at least not recently. So what is it that you dis-like about the reel handle of the casting reel you have ? A-Jay
  18. Though I understand your premise, I will say that my "game" doesn't really change from one day to the next. There are times however, if I am fortunate enough to be able to get out on a body of water enough days in a row & or repeatedly for a period of time, where I'll be there where & when the fish turn on. It's all about being in the right place, at the right time and with the right bait. In between those times, I'm doing everything I can think of to locate, hopefully active fish and attempt to illicit a strike. On those rare occasions when I haven't been out in a while and start getting bit right away, I just say thank you every time I reach for the net. This happens much more at night. A-Jay
  19. Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I hope you can see your way clear to identify yourself. As a Bass Professional, the membership here would probably like to be able to put a face to the name. Additionally, knowing that this matter has been discussed & dealt with and for all practical pursues is over with, could you please explain why you've decided to bring this thread back from the dead ? 21. I fish several Quantum casting reels. From Michigan to Mexico and a few places in between, the PPT (below), SPT & HPT models have all proven themselves to me. A-Jay
  22. If Seattle stops Blount from making yards on the ground and New England manages to some how gang up to minimize Lynch & Wilson's running game, both teams may need to resort to more of an aerial attack to move the ball. This may be the Patriot's best chance to win. A-Jay
  23. I'm the guy who likes to experiment with baits to see what will get bit. I especially like to do it when the bite is on. Meaning, when the fish are obviously eating a bait well, I will cut that one right off and try baits that have yet to prove themselves. Whether it's just a color change or even an entirely different bait, I want to test it's effectiveness and there's no better time than when I know the bass are there and eating. Now the possible drawback to this is I'm probably missing a few bits while I'm switching back & forth and retying baits every 5 minutes. But on the other hand, these times have afforded the opportunity to gain confidence in a few baits that on another day might be "The Bait". Of Course, then the whole deal might start all over again. A-Jay
  24. I'm approaching the half century of fishing myself and I'd recommend you give the drop shot an opportunity to prove itself. It's a solid technique that takes fish when the bite is tough. Your description of having something going and then it becomes popular is one that applies here to the drop shot. A-Jay
  25. 3 times ~ do I detect some Blonde ? A-Jay
