  1. I'm in a very similar position. I enjoy fishing alone and do it the vast majority of the time. However, I think when experiences are shared with a person(s) who possess the common interest, those times have a real good feeling. This may also fall under the category of personal preference as well. So whether there's a benefit is debatable. A couple of experience anglers can eliminate water, baits & techniques faster than a solo act, for sure. Additionally, I do fish quite a bit at night as well, and always alone. I don't know anyone crazy, I mean, committed / dedicated enough to spend all night out on the lake in a canoe with me. Of course, it could just be me . . . . . A-Jay

  9. I worked in a tackle shop down in Cape May NJ for several years. Each year The Biggest Bass came from the bay on Bunker heads. Eels definitely take fish and occasionally a big one too. But year after year, season after season, 95% of the 40lb plus fish I weighed in, ate a bunker chunk. And btw - the night bite is best. Good Luck A-Jay

  14. My best topwater lakes are very clear and except for very low light or night ops, the fish seem quite hesitant to commit to a surface presentation unless it's a Long way from the boat. I can certainly do that with mono but the long distant hook set then becomes a problem, regardless of the rod. So, braid fills the bill here very nicely. Additionally if you've only ever used mono to work / walk a spook type bait, I'd urge you to try it on braid. The direct feeling the line offers to the bait makes working it quite a bit easier and most important less fatiguing. And of course the hook set you can get are very nice. A-Jay
