  3. Some great advice here so far - I have a different take on first time credit card users. I used this on my son to help him learn the self discipline it take to "Use" the card sensibly. As stated, your limit is $700. So first save up $700 - if you already have it, good. Now take the Whole $700 and send it to the Credit Card company NOW - Before you ever use the card. Now you are free to use the card. Remember to stay within the $700 limit and Be sure to make payments each month. Your statement will say you owe nothing but always make a payment any way - what ever you think is wise and affordable. During this entire evolution, you'll be learning how to do it right but without the penalty of interest; because you'll be using you're own money not the banks. It's a good learning tool. Essential, you've made your credit card into a debit card. My cash rewards card gets this same treatment. Good Luck A-Jay
  4. Thank You for doing your part to defend our country. One of the many great aspects about this sport that we love so much is that it's always there ~ Always. No matter how long it is between trips whether it's a week or a year - it will still be there waiting for us. So do what you have to do, and find comfort in knowing that your sport will be there patiently waiting for whenever you can get back to it. Stay Safe A-Jay (USCG Ret)

  12. 00mod ~ Jeff, wasn't this supposed to be your fish ? A-Jay http://www.bassmaster.com/blogs/bassfest-live-blog/record-setting-bass-caught-chickamauga-lake#
  13. First week of June traditionally starts the Big May Fly hatch in the North Woods. Seems like everything that swims gets in on the bounty. Fly rodding for brown bass is just too darn good to pass up. This wacky winter may have changed the timing of it all but I'll be ready & waiting to see. A-Jay
  14. OK ~ That puts me in. ( MI is in the Northeast section ) There may be some night ops fish entered here as well as a couple of Brown Bass. This is cool and I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. Good Luck All. A-Jay

  17. When reading several different books & articles about the California bass boom back in the day, the completion was fierce. Mr. Long's reputation as described by the authors of some of these publications, was often presented in a manner that was less than, lets say . . . . "likable". His actions here will undoubtedly support the opinions of his detractors. A-Jay
  18. As a rule (and this is a Very General rule) I fish with more Horizontal moving baits pre-spawn and a lot of Vertical moving baits post spawn. Much of it has to do with where the fish are during these times. So for me, a jig & craw sees quite a bit of post spawn action. Then again, I'm usually pulling a jig out of a basses face all season long. A-Jay
  19. Fishing's fishing where ever we do it - and it's all good ~ as long as we get to do it. And if bassing south of the border is in that cards for you, I hope I'm there too. A-Jay
  20. A 10 Inch Black Berkley Power Worm. And when used with a 1/4 oz black tungsten bullet weight - it's called The Johnny Cash. A-Jay
  21. Sounds good - and now that you're learned how to make them jump all over the lake, perhaps you could coax a few into the net for a brief photo op . . . . A-Jay

  24. I heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over but expecting different results . . . . . But then I thought - isn't that the very essence of bass fishing ? A-Jay
  25. You could try it - but I would say that it's really unnecessary. I've caught both lmb and several smb with them along with many pike & walleye. It's a good bait and as long as the hook is sharp you should be fine. We use them in Mexico without changing anything on the bait with good results. Perhaps your day was Just a Freak. Someone already said it here, when the fish want it - they pretty much swallow the thing and the hook set is more of a formality at that point. Try a rod with a little more lower end - I bet that'll do it. A-Jay
