  1. As far as hoaxes go, this one is well-produced and elaborate. A-Jay
  2. What defines Quality gear is often debated. High Dollar tackle is defined differently by anglers as well. Tackle that allows required dependable performance can be obtained without purchasing the best gear money can buy. In order to answer your question "Is High Dollar tackle required to be a good Fisherman ? I'll ask you one - How do you define a Good Fisherman ? Is it catching big fish, many fish, adaptability or perhaps sportsmanship ? Looking at that brief list - my stance is that the price of one's tackle plays a fairly limited role. A-Jay
  3. I saw that one coming but it still made me LOL ~ . . Thanks A-Jay
  4. I have. A couple of the more secluded lakes we fish, there are a couple of loons that really live up to their name. One that will swim right up to and under the canoe. With that crystal clear water, we get a very good look at it. Very pretty bird but still not something I want hanging around while we fish. We usually stop fishing for a bit and ( if after some encouragement on our part), it doesn't move, we do. A-Jay

  10. It's not - That's the size that seems to be The Meanest ! The smaller ones I can usually grab behind the head and handle OK and the bigger ones do most of their work while on the end of the line so once in the net they are manageable. But there's something about that mid size fish - just seems to have some reserve energy - where they are just bound & determined to stick a hook in your hand . . . . A-Jay
  11. Only 2 things ~ and they both revolve around Old Mr. Northern Pike. 1). When you get the strike and you set the hook, and the rod hits you right in the face - because a darn snot rocket has bitten you off - again. 2). A 10 pound pike with a face full of treble hooks just losing its mind in the net. Knowing at some point I have to get my bait back amongst all that insanity . . . . A-Jay
  12. Nice ~ That's Fat Cat ! I guess we better pack some of dat Vie-eena Sausage for the trip south . . . . btw - it is rather coincidental that you're the one posting this up there Mr Bagre A-Jay

  22. OK - I will concede that DD bass have a way of easing the brutality of Old Man Winter to some degree. And if you really want to come (and we'd love to have you btw) you can. Look at the great things you've accomplished so far in life. And your wife would no doubt love to see you do something that she knows would mean so much to you. Do it man. A-Jay
  23. Sorry Raider but I can't help it . . . . . Because it's easy ! Thank them for their assistance and great Ideas and be sure to ask them if it would be OK to come to them in the future for help. Then make sure you ask them for assistance on the next thing you know they have little to no experience with. Now that becomes a learning experience for them - you win again. Or You could keep calling them at challenging hours (like very first thing in the morning or very late in the work day) telling them that you need them down at the sight for some help. Make sure to be persistant and call each several times. If they show say thanks and if they bow out ask why ? You know this, but it's not what you say - it's what you do. A-Jay
