  1. We all look exactly like that - but it's just a little harder to see on some of us. Life has required that we build up a "Protective Covering" A-Jay
  2. Give it up - just go to McDonald's and get the Square Fish. A-Jay
  3. Thanks - I don't feel as bad about have what I have now - actually seems somewhat reasonable compared to your half a TON . . . . A-Jay
  4. That's wild - really plays with your head. My perspective was all jacked up. A-Jay
  5. Some of these are classic. A-Jay http://www.buzzfeed.com/awesomer/people-who-are-really-nailing-this-parenting-thing
  6. I'm an "import" to this part of the country, but after talking with several long time locals yesterday (70 years plus) even they are hard pressed to remember a winter like this one. Which makes my wife and I somewhat disappointed with our timing A-Jay
  7. X2 ~ I don't but into the whole Snelling thing either. After several years of offshore saltwater fishing, I've used it and it does have it's place. But I have yet to see where it's a requirement for this application. And as for the straight shank hook, I also Prefer the EWG. My experiences with the Straight hook with the bait keeper barb have not resulted in more fish but have definitely shorted the life span of my plastics. A-Jay
  8. Hello and Welcome to BR ~ A-Jay
  9. Here's what mine looks like ~ Here's the rig, from the main line to the hook: -A stopped knot (I use a double uni-knot made from left over braided line) - A small bead to keep the knot from slipping through the weight. - A tungsten weight - a Boss Punch Hub - this is placed inside the skirt collar - The skirt of your choice - A parasite clip (optional, but does help prevent the plastic from sliding down the hook) - A 5/0 Owner wide gap plus EWG hook (#5139 - very stout, I love this hook) - Your favorite soft plastic - pictured is a Power Bait Beast A-Jay
  10. ~30 this morning. We'll need a 62 degree temperature increase just to get above freezing. Now ask me again why I travel South to fish . . . A-Jay.
  11. I hear you and I too can appreciate when hard work is put in. But we both know just by looking at the man, listening to him, realizing that he's at the Gym at 4 am - There's an additional layer here that only comes during those special times. Hope his liver holds up. A-Jay
  12. I prefer to ensure there is sufficient space between the ends of the skirt and the action portion of the trailer, in this case the claws of the craw. This can be accomplished by either trimming the skirt or modifying the body length of the trailer. If the majority of the skirt is hanging all over the claws, it can impede the action of the trailer, especially on the fall. This does not come into play as much if the trailer is designed to glide rather than flap. A-Jay
  13. Big Boy ~ And .. . A-Jay
  14. Whatever works for you. But for me, cranking with a heavy action stick and braid would not work. The system may work for smaller fish that you can man handle and just ski to the boat. But anything larger, that is capable of dictating some of the fight, has a very good chance of jumping and tossing that bait right back to where it came from. No Thanks. A-Jay
  15. This one's starting to get away . . . . . . . . . . .
  16. Check out the Duo Realis Jerkbait ~ Very nice bait. Cost more than some, less than others. Built with quality hardware & has a unique action. If you're water has Smelt and / or Emerald Shiners this may be your new favorite bait. A-Jay
  17. Good Luck on your purchases, but what I want to know is . . . . How do you manage the self discipline to only buy ONE of each bait ? ? ? ? ? ? Haven't you met this guy yet ? A-Jay
  18. Interesting. When I think about it, our lives are our own little universe. Complete with vastness, unexplained forces, aliens, and misguides meteors as well as shooting stars, heavenly bodies and the one you love. So, when I'm doing it right, I pick me. A-Jay
  19. Nice write up here by Mrs. Robin Howell. A-Jay http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/classic-dream-come-true-0
  20. I'm just trying to keep it all together . . . . A-Jay
  21. My fishing line “arsenal” consists of braid & mono. Whether the braid or mono is used separately or braid with a leader depends on several different situations and techniques all of which have been thoroughly discussed in this thread or somewhere else on the forum. As for if or when a bass can see my line or if they even care for me if strictly determined by results. Initially, I will select a line to use that once the very biggest fish I hope to land strikes, I have the very best chance of landing. But realizing that I have to get bit first, I will modify my presentation until I’m getting bit. After which I have found my answer. So until there is a line that has the knot strength of mono, the sensitivity and direct hook sets of braid and the stealth and abrasion resistance properties of fluorocarbon, I am resigned to the fact that there will always be some compromise. 22. The way I see it, it doesn't need to. A-Jay
  23. Often times in situations like these, The Rule of Gross Tonnage comes into play. A-Jay
  24. And free shipping - It's like stealing. So the Postal Dump Truck will be swinging by your place as well. A-Jay
