  1. Excellent - and just imagine how fantastic your cardio will be as your ability to swim across oceans improves day by day . . . . . . . A-Jay
  2. Boaters & non-Boaters - the age old discussion. As so many have mentioned, quite eloquently I'd might to add, doesn't it all come down to the conscious decision of each individual? To either treat people like you'd like to be treated, or be "that" guy or gal. When we spend enough time on the water fishing with or around other anglers, boater or non-boaters, there just always seems to be enough of this foolishness to keep life interesting. I've felt like I was being poached both by boaters and non-boaters alike so in my mind neither group has cornered the market on being wrapped up in ones self. A-Jay

  4. Talk to your Doctor regarding your medications. Also - relax man, you're just a Puppy and you're still growing. I graduated high school with your exact size. Plenty of time to grow. There is also quite a bite of research that shows that resistance training too early in life might actually prevent you from reaching your potential genetic height - give it time. A-Jay
  5. Cool. I am no expect, but we both know that having the right tool always makes the job easier. A-Jay
  6. A complete waste of money ? Have you tried them all ? The FDA can't possibly know what does and doesn't work for each and every individual. That's where free choice comes into play. I would agree that regardless of whether or on an individual chooses to supplement their nutritional intake, there is no replacement for consistent, safe and thoughtfully planned training. I am not including "the Juice" as you called it nor are the recently banned Pro-hormones a part of this discussion. As for "Keeping one's gains", I will tell you that it has been my Lifestyle that has contributed to maintaining a strong and balance status. You must feed the engine with quality fuel. There is a lot that goes into it and sensible supplementation plays a very beneficial role. There is some trial and error and each body responds differently. Does your friend's lack of results support a blanket statement dispelling All Nutritional Supplements as useless ? My contention, based on my own experiences, will always be no. A-Jay

  9. Not trying to Hijack your thread Raider but . . . . My stance on supplements is quite the opposite. I'm a believer, especially now that I'm on the back side of the longevity slope (in my 50's). As a younger man I'll admit I had a bit more drive, but like the majority of human beings there is an evitable reduction is most every aspect of ones abilities as we age. Supplements for me though not a magic cure, do provide a noticeable boost in performance. When taken correctly and in moderation, they certainly do not hurt ones performance or health. While recovering from a second abdominal surgery, I decide to get a little lean. I don't know what my body comp was but it was challenging getting there and even harder to stay there. A-Jay
  10. Interesting - and what a coincidence, my Lake Baccarac PB was also caught on a spinnerbait - though NOT quite as Grande as Steve's Monster . . . A-Jay

  13. **** Trip Log **** Sunday 30 June Fished 6am – 11am / Air temp mid 60’s / Water Temp 73 / Winds N 5 - 10 / Sky, partly cloudy / Barometer 1008 & rising. Though I routinely stop fishing on weekends sometime around mid-June to avoid the crazies, I really needed to wet a line, so I went anyway. On my last trip I had a little luck throwing a swimbait. Armed with some apprehensive confidence, I made this the technique of the trip and didn’t bring anything else. I started off fishing a point I had seen a decent fish at last time out. There was a bit of a breeze early, which is a little unusual, so I anchored very shallow at the top (shoreside) of a point that dropped off twice right in front of me; first down to 18 – 20 ft and then again out into the main lake basin which is over 80 ft. I’m always marking fish somewhere on that second drop but the spot is very stingy as far as giving up fish. I did catch a nice chunker right off the bat. It took a Hudd 68 rainbow trout (rof 12). Fish loaded up on the bait nicely, the way I would like all my swimbait fish to take it – deep. It was only a 16 inch fish but the 6” bait was gone. I was glad to get a bite here and I hope it continues. While on the hook, there were plenty of trout moving all around the lake, even as shallow as 10 ft. I tried changing to a rof 5 bait for a while hoping to fool any fatties that might be looking up for an easy meal; didn’t happen. Around 9am I relocated to spot that’s loaded with big timber lying on the bottom in 15 – 20 feet ahead of a drop into the main lake. This stuff is easily the “Best looking” visible cover of all three bodies of water and the local “fisherman” beat it up pretty good. The bass respond accordingly. Normally I pass on these “fisherman friendly” spots but with the water being so clear, on past trips I have seen several high quality fish down there cruising among the logs. Additionally, my MI PB came from a deep water dock close by there. So it’s hard to pass it up. With the sun beaming like it should on the last day of June and despite the breeze, perhaps this deep cover might be the way to go. The fishing pressure and visibility means that if you get too close to it, even though it's “deep”, the fish shut down. Staying way off it, anchoring out in deeper water to present the bait a full cast away, is the only way I get bit here (except at night). I was crawling the Hudd in and out of the wood. I hung up a few times but managed to shake the bait off every time. Each cast I was expecting to either get bit or lose the bait. I may have to pick up the weed less version someday. And so after all of that; Jambalaya off the wood. The first week of July signals the start of the warmest weather we’ll have here all summer. It usually lasts 2 or 3 weeks and when combined with the increased boat-nick action the heat and vacation season brings, 95% of my trips until early September will be on weekdays at night. However, I do like fishing at night. Something about the sounds and smells and breathing that night air, it makes me feel alive. Below are short videos of this and my previous trip. 22. For me, it revolves around shows that target smallmouth bass. Every notice that these shows are almost always filmed during the spawn. When the fish are shallow enough where the anglers are sight fishing for them. That's all well and good, and makes for entertaining TV, but I'd appreciate a show where "The Host" actually targets these fish when they are Not at their most vulnerable. A show dedicated to finding these fish when they are Not in 10 feet of water and defending the nest / territory. This I would embrace. A-Jay
  23. For mid & deep cranking 20lb works well - 10lb works better. For square bill or lipless baits I use what I use for a spinnerbait - 20 or 30. A-Jay
  24. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I'm in this group. A-Jay
