  1. That could be - but the top 25 scores in NFL history are all placekickers. Grass stains might be more desirable than blood stains. A-Jay
  2. Might be a smallie inside there but this one made me say it - "If this is a bass - it's a big one" A-Jay
  3. So many of the QB's who play a "Running style" gets Broke, Re-Broke, then Broke Again and finally just go away. And scrambling around in the pocket or moving to extend a play, is not the same as developing plays that send the QB directly into the meat grinder. In order to be fast enough for that style to be effective, a man has to be built a certain way. Unfortunately, this physique can not endure the rigors associated with the job. Even the dudes designated as runners, who do not look like QB's, have a tough time staying healthy. The Pocket Passing QBs who never run get hurt - look at Payton Manning, the guy never runs and he broke his neck. Unless something changes, I say that style will never allow a player to enjoy any longevity in the league. A championship could certainly be won using it, but history indicates that it is rare and repeat championship performances by the same player are few. The NFL made special rules regarding how the D can tackle a QB. So why is it a good idea to give them free shots at the man - Repeatedly ? Many of the athletes playing QB and running this style are amazing to watch. But I cringe every time they choose not to slide. A-Jay
  4. Nice . . . . Knife. Really Nice. And I liked the music too - relaxing. A-Jay
  5. Schilling not legendary ? ? ? Didn't you see the Bloody Sock Game ? - Com'On Man . . . People are naming pets after the guy ~ "heel Curt" A-Jay

  7. Use Rubber - at least for a Bass sized landing net, there is no reason not to and the advantages are many. Once you find the hoop and handle style / size that fits your fishing situation and needs, there are several companies that make and sell the netting separately and they are easy enough to change. 8. I fish out of an Old Town Predator square back canoe. Here are a few factors that come into play when Flipping / Pitching from a canoe (or most manually propelled water craft): ~ Doing this from a seated position takes practice. Standing is better for many reasons but only a small percentage of canoes / kayaks are built / designed to do it safely. ~ I am using is technique when targeting fish in some of the heaviest & nastiest cover. The heavy gear is required to hook and immediately move the fish from where it is and to get it to where you are - Fast. When setting the hook and fighting a fish in this manner and with this gear, first time canoe flippers will soon learn that many times instead of hauling the fish to you - you'll end up moving toward the fish. Even when you're ready for it, this causes a few problems right away. Initially, you don't get the kind of hook set you'd get when fishing from a higher and heavier craft. Second, you might not be able to move the fish much right away so there could be some "noodling" involved in order to actually land said bass. And finally, if and when you swing & miss a hook-up completely - you might go for a dip. ~ I have never tried it - but two anglers flipping from one canoe would seem to complicate things quite a bit. ~ Wind makes this technique harder. If you can anchor (quietly) that will help a little. All that being said - Flipping from a manually propelled craft can still be done and quite effectively. It will take a lot of practice and there may be a few hard lessons learned in the process. As mentioned above, the obvious maneuverability advantages of these smaller vessels certainly come into play for both presentation and landing bass with this method. As a side note - much of this comes into play when throwing a frog sytle bait on the slop as well. Is it spring yet ? A-Jay
  9. Man ~ Nitrofreak, that's quite a spread sheet of stats. All the numbers aside, on the final drive of the game, I can't say there is another QB playing right now that I'd rather have directing my team down field to score than Tom Brady. A-Jay

Well here is a Big Time Welcome to the Smithwick Lure Company ~ ! Congratulations to Jack Smithwick, for recognizing what Bass Resource is all about and the great things ahead. The attached paragraph is a little of the companies history from their web site. A-Jay "The growth of the Smithwick Lure Company is legendary. From its humble beginnings in my family’s kitchen in 1947 to its sprawling manufacturing facilities today, the lures have become the favorites of generations of anglers. The continued development of new Smithwick fishing lures, new colors and the latest in lure finish technology is a tribute to the foresight my father, Jack K. Smithwick, demonstrated back in 1947. All of us at the Smithwick Lure Company are proud of the standards he established for quality, value and performance, all attributes anglers have come to know and expect from Smithwick Lures for over six decades. This is how he set himself apart. Set yourself apart—with Smithwick." Jack A. Smithwick

This is one version of a Punching rig. Here's the rig, from the main line to the hook: -A stopped knot (I use a double uni-knot made from left over braided line) - A small bead to keep the knot from slipping through the weight. - A 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz tungsten weight - a Boss Punch Hub - this is placed inside the skirt collar - The skirt of your choice - A parasite clip (optional, but does help prevent the plastic from sliding down the hook) - A 5/0 Owner wide gap plus EWG hook (#5139 - very stout, I love this hook) - Your favorite soft plastic - pictured is a Power Bait Beast Hope this helps A-Jay

  21. Too bad you lost interest Tom. Although the games has changed over the years (most pro sports have) it is still a very exciting and action packed spectator sport. Maybe this would be a good time for you to rekindle your passion for the game. A-Jay
  22. It's all good - I just mentioned it because I was surprised they even aired that shot. I get it, he wears short shorts but they should have left the close up of the man's junk on the cutting room floor. It didn't really add anything to the production, if you know what I mean. No worries. A-Jay
  23. Looks like there's going to be some hockey this year. Like so many, I'm bummed that this foolishness took place at all. So now it will be an abbreviated training camp, followed by a strike shortened season where every game is a bit more meaningful. Getting off to a good start and avoiding injuries early could be very advantageous. If they go with a full Playoff schedule (which is what has been discussed) the playoffs might be longer than the regular season . . . . . A-Jay
  24. I know - This is the second time it has been mentioned here - And it was pretty Bogus man. . . . . In the interest of good taste, in the future I'd like to suggest that this be referred to as "Tommy Toe". A-Jay
