Transferring unused fluorocarbon from one reel to another
If we are talking about running FC line off one CASTING reel and onto another, you'll be fine. I do it often, especially if it's never been fished. Spinning reels might be a different story, #slinky but as long as the line comes off one reel and onto the other reel under a little tension, you should be good. Besides, doesn't seem much different than simply running it straight off a bulk spool. Good Luck A-Jay

Have you noticed many lures’ listed weights are inaccurate?
Crankbait weight seems far less 'critical' when compared to size, profile and running depth. Adjust your reel's casting settings, tune up your thumb and go to work. Good Luck A-Jay

Sleep
Very sorry to hear that @Catt - pretty sure that's tough sledding. In my response above I noted that I am usually able to get decent nights sleep. But that has quite a bit to do with my lot in life Now. Back in the day, the 'service life style" I lived didn't really place sleep as a top priority. So bouncing around a sea for weeks on end, long hours of Search & Rescue, Extended Law Enforcement boardings at sea (usually at night) and then the 100 hour work weeks as a DI, had me in a perpetual state of sleep deprivation for years, literally. But seems when we're 'young' it doable - but clearly not ideal. Now that the circus is over and I am actually able to meet my needs sleep wise, I can most certainly tell/feel the difference. It's night & day - get it ? Stay well my friend. A-Jay

Safety boating topic. About a engine not restarting in desolate areas.
Had mine since 2016. Just replaced the battery (5 years) & re-registered it with NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION (NOAA) SEARCH AND RESCUE SATELLITE AIDED TRACKING (SARSAT). Needs to be done every two years. Don't leave the dock without it. A-Jay https://www.acrartex.com/products/resqlink-view/

Can't say for sure. Shipping with any service these days is sort of like a gift card. Not sure how much is left on it, but we can give it a try. Good Lick A-Jay

Fishing Ledger
I kept fishing logs for years . . . Can't say for sure if they ever helped me catch more or bigger fish because every day is different. So old data seems less useful. Despite that, I still keep a 'record' of my days on the water. But it's in video form and far more accurate than I ever was. Fish Hard A-Jay

How do you sell your rods?
Recently sold some tackle and a couple of rods. Used https://www.pirateship.com/ First time for me. Went without a hitch and depending on the shipper used, it's close to half price. You'll need an accurate scale I'll never use regular UPS or USPS pricing again. A-Jay

What species do you miss catching and why? And what don't you miss catching?
Wish I had GoPro's back then . . . . Most of it feels like a dream now. But being able to 'see' it all on video again, would make it more real for me. A-Jay

What species do you miss catching and why? And what don't you miss catching?
My last 15 years or so in the service, I was supremely addicted to Striped Bass fishing At Night ! Loved the complete solitude, the spinetingling intensity that included just enough dangerous to capture my soul. I chased these line sided ghosts up & down the east coast from Maine to North Carolina. I always knew the state of the tide as it ruled my life back then. Fished from the sand sometimes but most of the best action happened on the blackest of nights way out on the end of a 2 mile long rock jetty off southern NJ. October & November new moons were epic. Some of the best 'spots' required a bit of a 'swim' to reach the very tip of the rocks. Always got my attention and my headlamp needed to be water tight - Takes a special kind of crazy and if I 'stayed too long', as the tide came in, the swim back to the rocks was that much longer. Dry suit was mandatory. Something I do not miss are sharks ravaging so many succulent bottom fish while offshore bottom / wreck fishing. Hated that. Reeling up just the head of a big red snapper is a giant bummer. For me, not the sharks. A-Jay

A-Jay's Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Oh you mean like when a derby is purposely scheduled so that anglers can repeatedly catch the same 10 brown bass off their beds for 4 DAYs IN A ROW ? I get that. A-Jay Guilty, but I'm not in denial and I'm working on it. It's feels like a 12 step type program. I'm at the "apologize to the Monkey" stage right now. It's not going well either. A-Jay

A-Jay's Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Been doing well with other baits and have never really been able to build any confidence in them. Much of that might be from lack of fishing them. Either way, if I'm not ever throwing them, don't need to take them for boat rides. I don't get wrapped up in business stuff that much. A-Jay

A-Jay's Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
After yanking the Berkley & Rapala branded jerkbaits off of the boat and out of the regular rotation, I’m left with Strike King, Lucky Craft, Smithwick and Megabass offerings. And I’m good with that, because they produce. However, this minor bait reduction left a couple of small voids in my arsenal. Specifically in the ‘smaller’ size range. So I did a little poking around and results are listed and pictured below. Additions are underlined. From the top row down . . . (and mostly for size reference) Row 1 ~ Vision 110 R +1 Row 2 ~ Vision 110 +1 Rows 3 (new colors), 4 & 5 ~ Vision 110 Row 6 ~ Vision 110 Silent Row 7 ~ Vision 110 +1 Jr Row 8 ~ X-Nanahan +2 Row 9 ~ X-Nanahan +1 Jerkbait So let’s see how this deal goes . . . 51 Days ~ A-Jay
