  1. The custom skirt making shop was open briefly today. The devil is in the details . . . . A-Jay
  2. Old Rogues never die, they just keep on catching. This picture will self destruct in 10 seconds . . . . . A-Jay
  3. Been using that Mustad KVD treble very successfully for 14 years now. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12706-mustad-kvd-elite-treble-hook/?do=findComment&comment=149867 Can not speak intelligently as to why other anglers are not. No clue what that's even about. Either way, there's a bunch of pics all over this forum of several species of plus size fish, (including my 11-11 lb PB Green Bass) that I've landed that were unable to overcome the sheer greatness of that ewg treble. btw - the Gamakatsu EWG Treble Short Shank Magic Eye is pretty good too. Might even be better https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_EWG_Treble_Short_Shank_Magic_Eye_6pk/descpage-GET.html YMMV A-Jay (just let me know if you'd like to see any of the pics)

  7. The views and opinions included in this thread belong to each originating member and do not necessarily mirror the views and opinions of the Original poster. Additionally, the use of special rods line & lure with no hooks is expressly confusing. 🥴 A-Jay
  8. Pull 1 workout this morning. Grip strength always comes into play on this one. Don't see AI replacing much of what goes on up in here. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/1AQQljuUGYY?feature=shared A-Jay
  9. 45 days to go ~ It's mid February in northern Michigan. Looks and feels the part. Spent most of yesterday morning cleaning & cutting paths through the snow. But it's all good, because it "Tight Line Sunday". Dropping some topwater action from a few summers ago for this one . . . . A-Jay
  10. I have been fishing several LTB sticks for a while. For my money, I do not need anything better. Every one is a pleasure to fish and I like mine quite a bit. 11. There's as many ways to fish a jig / T-rigged plastic as there are threads on this site that cover how to do it. @FishnMtlHd your posts asks "several' questions", the answers to which can be pretty extensive. You might benefit from breaking it down and digesting one element at a time. There are some very accomplished jig fisherman on this forum, and you'll no doubt get some feed back from them here. I may be average at best but I'll drop 3 quick hitters to get you started and then I'd encourage you to check out the info in the thread linked below. 1. It really pays to know 'exactly' what your bait 'feels' like as it falls to the bottom and again once it's sitting on the bottom. Knowing how much tension it takes to lift & or move it can help you understand what the bottom composition might be like as well as improving your strike detection. So that's something you can work on every cast. Fishing the same rig & bait/trailer can help with this. For starters, fishing in shallow clear water where you can actually watch your bait while you 'feel your bait' can help as well. 2. All things being equal, Tungsten sinkers offer more 'sensitivity' than lead. Meaning for most bassheads, it's easier to feel what a baits doing when using tungsten. However it's a little pricey. Most of the best jig anglers I know do not use tungsten jigs, again cost play a role but what's really happening is they don't need it. Years of experience has honed their skills to where lead works just fine. 3. Jigs / T-Rigged Plastics are generally not considered 'search baits'. They are both at their highest power when presented into some fairly dense cover and fished mostly pretty slow. That sort of means we're throwing them into places we have a decent idea that there's at least one bass in there. If after a few throws, there's no bites, we more to the next piece of cover and that process continues over and over. So it's not something we're going to cover water with. Instead, we're looking to 'pluck' a bass out of these spots. Good Luck And now there's this . . . https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12403-jig-fishing-questions/?do=findComment&comment=145782 A-Jay
  12. Glad to hear you're feeling better. Sorry about your MIL. Hoping for some stability there for you & your family. We're thinking of you brother. A-Jay
  13. Not worth our time. Simply delete the thread, like it never happened. Because as it pertains to fishing, it didn't. Seems Bobby's character level sits well below the Mendoza Line. A-Jay
  14. Definitely feeling yesterday's push workout, especially through most all of my Pectoral/shoulder girdle. Also, going back and comparing older workouts to newer one is something I do quite often. Can be motivating as well as helping me reduce/repeat old 'mistakes'. Below is a couple of leg press videos completed 6 years apart. I was 58 and (most recently) 64 respectively. I've improved my form/technique some on this exercise since that first one. But the working weight & rep count Is The Same. I like that. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/WN3XbFSmKPk?feature=shared&t=7 https://youtu.be/0igcyCYc4M4?feature=shared&t=119 A-Jay (pull day tomorrow)
  15. Nice ~ ! You know you're into slabs when you're back reeling on Crappie ! Congrats on the new Personal Best as well. A-Jay
  16. I learned 'how to fish' with spin cast tackle. Mostly by hanging a cricket under a bobber for panfish. Taught me to cast. Taught me how to set the hook , play & land fish. Taught me to bait a hook (which teaches 'rigging'.) Even taught me a little patience, although most all of that is long gone. The Bass deal came a little later but the above stuff sure set me on the right path. A-Jay
  17. Push 1 Workout this morning. Going into it I was sure how this one was going to go. Turned out mostly OK. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/nRTzXUAc3eQ?feature=shared A-Jay

We've got 7 or 8 inches down now with a Winter Weather Advisory running. Expect snow on & off all day today & overnight, so we'll be looking at a foot or so. I'm waiting until most of it's over before commencing clean up operations. Extended forecast is all over the place next week with cold, warm, rain and then more cold. A-Jay
  19. Interesting little bait and nice review. However when fishing excessively weedy places, the 6'4" Expride UL paired with a Vanford 2000 with 6lb might not be my first choice. Why such light gear in thick soft cover ? A-Jay
  20. Passing a jerkbait through a Palomar knot loop on a rocking rig and in the wind is like doing Rubik's Cube for me. And let's just say, I'm not a top performer in either. 🤓 A-Jay
  21. For FC, I use the The Pitzen knot or the San Diego Jam knot. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/256483-who-is-my-double-san-diego-jam-knot-expert/?do=findComment&comment=2997889 The Uni-to Uni knot takes care of all connections regardless of line type. And I use a Uni knot to secure line to lure with mono or braid. A small blood knot connects my reel backing to my mainline of choice on reels that have backing. And remember, if ya can't tie a knot, just tie a lot. We call it the mite knot. Might hold, might not. Signed, the self proclaimed Knot Ninja . . . A-Jay

  23. No - you're right. We both have too much. The difference is, I don't care. A-Jay
