  1. 106 Days ~ This winter's bizarre weather continues . . . A-Jay
  2. Yea - Not buying it ! #kansashammer A-Jay
  3. My Brown Bass fishing efforts & adventures are routinely concentrated early and later in the open water season here. Mid-summer I'll make some sporadic trips, many of which I find myself in the Old Town Canoe on smaller water. 2023 will easily be remembered as "intense"; both on & off the water. I might have floated somewhere around 50 times. Which often averages out as 2 to 3 workouts per fishing trip. Probably will again this year too. Hard water season already feels too long. That's a bad sign - it really is. A-Jay
  4. Total Body Day 4 today and I liked it. Hoping to keep as much momentum as I can heading into the new year. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  5. Looks available here ~ https://www.gullwingpaddles.com/buy.html A-Jay
  6. Over 4 Years later and I'm still confident in my above position. I have Zero problem admitting I am way far from a DD bass expert, I have caught and seen others catch a few up to and including 11+ lbs. All done more than half a continent south of Michigan. A 12 lb plus bass from this state seems like triple powerball odds to me. I've only ever seen ONE that size. Seemed unreal at the time as I had nothing else to compare it to. And while I was super glad to have been in the boat, I didn't catch it. https://youtu.be/CkW-lxMZcok?feature=shared If & when a MI basshead does actually top the current state record LMB, I really hope they either never tell a soul, or do the due diligence required in this day & age of " undeniable proof", to have it recognized accordingly. 7. Boxes are stored flat. A-Jay
  8. Not sure who they are. But back when every stick was glass and the only line was mono, which was like rubber rope, I had some colorful names for them. A-Jay
  9. Total Body Day 3 today. Objective is always to complete the cleanest reps I can. Felt good about how this one went. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/TKepaObPr7I?feature=shared A-Jay
  10. This is a selection of 'Power Finesse' rigs I run from Brown Bass ~ Shimano & a couple of Diawa. A-Jay
  11. In my world, the rod determines what a rig is used for. Whether it's 'power' or 'finesse' sounds cool on video but is virtually meaningless in the big picture. Lighter gear is finesse like and heavier gear is leaning toward the power fishing route. I will match the reel to the rod and the size & type of line I plan on using and I'm done. Every piece of fishing gear does not need to be 'classified' or designated to be effective. A-Jay
  12. All my snow is way gone. Looks and feels like mid-April. This is a Huge snow & winter fun destination. Skiing, snowshoe action and of course Ice fishing. Especially over the holiday/school break. We are surrounded by MILES of nicely groomed snow machine trails - all over the northern part of this state. Tourist $$$ is depended on. Not a banner year here for that deal. A-Jay
  13. 109 Days to go ~ This doesn't exactly apply here today (raining), but it most certainly has in the past and will not doubt again in the very near future ~ A-Jay
  14. I am not a huge fan of the ned rig but I'll bust it out when the situation dictates. To tempt the brown bass here, that usually means, flat water and a 'clean' bottom. https://youtu.be/KuPRtdajOLU?feature=shared&t=117 A-Jay
  15. After a scheduled off day and a mainainance day, I was back in the home gym for Total Body Day 2. Felt pretty good and I think the added day off was beneficial. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/A-ObDv7wtfk A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  17. TNT ~ Not having a very good first half - wow. A-Jay
  18. Local By-Catch on the bigger inland waters here includes Musky, Pike, Walleye & Trout. Early season, the brown and rainbow trout are a total blast on light spinning gear, putting on quite a show. My strike to land ratio on big Musky is pretty low but I've managed to hold a few. Pike are almost always a huge PIA, even when they are bigger. They trash everything. But when I hook a big one, I'll still work hard to land it; just to get my bait back if nothing else. When the toothy critters are thick, I'll either move or add a trace of wire. Then there's the walleye, I like them. Because they taste very good, I'll knock the sides of a limit of cutters just about every chance I get. I will often make them my target species after initially heading out for Brown Bass. Depends if the season's open on them yet or not. Panfish taste awesome too, just not a fan of cleaning so many at a time. A-Jay
  19. Price point vs product quality is ALWAYS a super subjective and personal matter. Hundreds of previous threads here on the matter have shown many different opinions. Personally, I have sort of limited experience with the 'newer' gear in those price points. So I am not in a position to offer much in the way of actionable information. I would feel OK saying that it seems folks have less challenges with 'better' gear, than they do with anything that is sold in clamshell packaging. My belief is that the Bitterness of Poor Quality Remains Long After the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten. Quality is never an accident, it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives. Good Luck with your shopping. A-Jay
  20. 111 Days ~ Unusually warm air temps now might be helping my cause later, Unfortunately my dogs love to lather up in the half frozen mud ! Not actually a fan of that part. A-Jay
  21. Been in the boat with at least 3 and on the beach with 2 Genuine Hammers. It can be humbling. I'm not a hammer by any stretch. Either way, whatever I am, You probably don't want it in your tool box. A-Jay
  22. The beat goes on and I am very grateful. Being capable of this helps make my 'average day' a bit more manageable. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/bp0tqlzXG2o A-Jay
