  1. With Local Lake Menderchuck already locked up . . . Here we go again ~ I'm picking 03 April 2024 for open water this time around. History would indicate that I am being wildly optimistic right here, but what the heck. Never up, never in. So as of today, that's 119 Days. https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20240403T00&p0=5787&msg=A-Jay's+Annual+Ice+Out+%2F+Open+Water+Countdown+Thread+~&ud=2&font=sanserif Which offers plenty of time to clean & organize my gear as well as dodge the Bait Monkey best I can. As always, please feel free to add your comments, support, and yes, even the jabs; as I know they're inevitable & always quite entertaining. And for those folks that can & will get out on the water while I shovel my roof, don't forget to add a few pics of recent catches. All of which may help to pass the time while I day dream of doing this again as soon as possible. Fish Hard A-Jay
  2. Currently on day 3 of a fairly persistent 'stomach flu'. Besides being mostly no fun, I've had to modify my diet accordingly. Meaning, I'm not eating much, OK anything. #keyhole Either way, it's going to be a few more days before I can build myself back up enough to get any benefits from a workout. That's the plan anyway. 3. Nicely Done ~ Congrats on the most excellent bass catches and good luck with that whole other deal. A-Jay
  4. Sounds like fun to me. And if you want the plus size models, I'd recommend being on the water as much as possible as soon as water temps tickle 40 degrees in the spring. And put more time in again 'before' what is traditionally thought of as 'the fall' bite. Like 2 or 3 weeks before so more like late summer. Think first light and look shallow. Good Luck. A-Jay
  5. Sounds wonderful. Btw, how many feet of that sunshine does it take to replenish the lakes, rivers & reservoirs in AZ ? A-Jay

I rolled a few back in the day. Clearly I'm no Earl Anthony but when it came to consistency of that first ball, I gave up on trying to control the curve. Instead I went straight line. Got some splits (and plenty of "Brooklyn's) but who doesn't. Good Luck. A-Jay
  7. Hello Steve and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  8. Total Body Day 2 this morning. My off day yesterday prepared me well for this one and it showed. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/WYJ86LztTx8?feature=shared A-Jay
  9. My final stats for 2023 for brown bass were fish at 5.66lbs, 5.68lbs, 5.84 lbs 5.98 lbs, and big fish of the year was 6.06 lbs. For a top 5 weight of 29.22 lbs Also met a nice brown trout. Fish Hard A-Jay
  10. Nope. 😀 A-Jay
  11. We both know that it only a matter of time ! And we call that 'Groad' aka - Gross frozen road. A-Jay
  12. What do I think ? I think you need to post pictures of; your old motor, your new motor, The mounting hardware, the head of Alfredo Garcia and The Beatles White album. A-Jay
  13. Total Body Day 1. Focus. Drive. Commitment. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  14. Plan finally came together today, but it wasn't without some challenges. While the exterior is very close to the 2021 model, the updated interior creature comforts of this 2024 deal are seriously next level ! More pics tomorrow. Loving the Cooper AT3's so far too. A-Jay
  15. You know it @Dwight Hottle Hunting the 1 or 2 percenters is both hard work and rarified air. #staterecordsonly A-Jay
  16. I've had that happen to me enough times that now, if there is line on the spool during removal, I use a small piece of tape to secure the end of the line to the spool. A-Jay

You're welcome. But but when I think about the $$ in the boat, motor, trailer tackle & now new truck, I'm trying to forget . . . 🤓 A-Jay

Yes he did ~ 7 inch senko as a jig trailer has been catching giants down south for years. When I first saw it, I thought it was crazy. Turns out, I'm the Crazy. https://youtu.be/1to6ti-tlZY?feature=shared&t=697 A-Jay
  19. My guess is you were winging the whole thing and this is the result. Am I close ? A-Jay
  20. Found this site via @Low_Budget_Hooker YT videos 15 years ago. Joined to learn then and it's never stopped. Couldn't possibly list it all but I can feel good about submitting three major deals. 1. Safety on the water is always paramount and people perish in nice weather too. 2. Fishing Hard always pays off, eventually. 3. Putting an average basshead on an above average body of water, can produce surprising results. A-Jay
  21. Just dropped off the 2021 rig at the dealer for the topper switch and should be signing on the dotted line tomorrow afternoon. Exterior of the 2024 is just about identical to the the rig I just turned in. The interior however, especially the dash & 'info screen' is larger & quite different. More to follow. A-Jay
  22. Sooner or later I'm going to have to think seriously about getting into shape. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  23. A lot of interesting stuff in this thread. I can't really add much mostly because despite some lengthy explanations from several accomplished anglers, I don't really understand how to apply it. I will say that if I do possess a 'strength', it might be fishing around in my live well and yanking out a couple of these . . . . A-Jay
