This one sports the 6.2L EcoTec®3 V8 engine ~the Dynamic Fuel Management system enables the engine to operate in 17 different patterns between 2 and 8 cylinders, depending on demand, to optimize power delivery and efficiency.

And the 420 hp is good too.

Looks great, A-Jay. Look even better towing the boat in a month or so!

Did you look underneath the old one? I looked underneath mine yesterday and there was a lot of “crap” so I went right to the car wash and got the deluxe one...with high pressure undercarriage.

Looks pretty nice. Too bad your gonna have to get it all covered in salt now. That’s the one down side to buying a truck in the winter up here, it looks good for about the first 100yds away from the dealership, then chalky white crap until May.

I’m assuming that’s 4x4 in your neck of the woods?

Yes Sir ~

This one has a 2-speed AutoTrac transfer case with an active automatic 4WD setting that provides seamless shifting between two- and four-wheel drive based on road conditions.

As well as a Traction Select System that adjusts transmission shift points, throttle mapping and StabiliTrak® to optimize performance for the situation.

Two years ago was the first time my dad in 66 year has had

1: a Chevy

2: 4 wheel drive

to top that off the 4x4 isn’t even his daily driver. He basically uses it to go to the races 2-3 times a year, and to putt around once or twice a month on the weekend. Either way he’s made it all these years without 4x4. My work truck doesn’t have 4x4. I’ve personally have always had them for obvious reasons, but it’s not a necessity. Good tires and patience and you’re good to go (under most circumstances).

Chevy's had that for a while - the panel for my 2001 for example

I've only had 4WD on two vehicles - and both of those bought used. A '84 AMC Cherokee and the current '01 Silverado. In the 4 years I had the Jeep, I think I used 4WD maybe half a dozen times, 5 years (so far) for the pickup - maybe 4 or 5 times.

Only vehicle I bought new was a '98 1500 Work Truck - RWD, but it had a 5-speed manual which more than made up for it's 'deficiencies'.

Congratulations on the new ride @A-Jay, the AT4 is pretty sweet! And I want to say “thanks” for posting of its pending arrival in the “Winter Purchase Plans” thread. It set in motion my own new GMC Sierra acquisition. Happy motoring!

My father had something against 4wd too.  I think it was that we had 1 truck that we put on maybe 2 sets of hubs and then the transfer case went clunk and locked up.  It was an early full time 4wd (NP203), which makes me wonder how some of these autotrac things work.  Patience and good tires did not pay off in keeping us unstuck, though.  I've hiked back to the barn (funny he never made that walk) for a tractor or the Scout and a chain many a time.  And I can't imagine having a truck without it.  My current rig would be stuck in gravel driveways without it, it's so heavy up front.

That's a nice truck.  Much too nice to haul hay or pallets of fertilizer in.
