This is us too. More importantly my wife receives all her meds in the mail USPS. These are life sustaining deals that cause some major problems if the deliveries are somehow jacked up or late. We have a 'regular' USPS person, who has changed a few times over the years. We are also fortunate in that we are usually home when they come in the morning. After some pleasantries, I ALWAYS make sure they know how important these deliveries are and how much we depend on them to get this stuff here in timely manner. We always end up exchanging home & cell phone numbers in case there's ever a problem. Rarely has there ever been one. And they will bring them all right to the door. We let them meet & greet the dogs. Something few experience. Another reason I like this place. Finally for at least the last 3 mail carriers anyway, we placed a shelter/foster dog with them. Most recently just 2 weeks ago. Took 3 phone calls. A-Jay
  2. I purchase travel insurance every time I fly south of the border. 10 plus trips ~ Used it twice. Glad I had it. Read it and make sure you know what's covered and the steps needed to file a claim before you need to. Have the info with you. Safe Travels A-Jay
  3. Looks like there's a new kid in town. Pretty excited about this profile. Hybrid Jerkbait / Crankbait type deal. A-Jay

  5. Any Ideas ? Yes ~ These types of 'line tests' seem a very long way from simulating actual fishing conditions any line would be used in. So unless one routinely fishes or better yet hand lines with a 2-3 foot section of line, we may be missing the mark a bit. Especially when considering the static & dynamic forces of both the boat and fish on & in a liquid medium. Perhaps something closer to a real world test (on land anyway) to see how the line performs when it's fished would be to spool whatever is being tested on to the rig it's generally used on. Secure it to something solid along with the scale (if that's what you're looking to learn). Back away the length of an average cast. Lock down the drag. With a bend in the rod, slowly back away. This might be closer to what 'breaking off' might look like. I would expect 50-65 lb braid might break a few rods before it parts. Keep that in mind. A-Jay
  6. I use the 300 Tranx for plus size Green Bass south of the border. Swimbaits, underspins, Jigs & big Shpabinner baits. Might be my favorite casting reel. A-Jay

  11. Been following this one . . . OK so new boats cost more than they used to. How is this a surprise and when does this not happen ? What prompted my response here is that there seems to be a tone to this thread that indicates that having some debt or a making payment, is akin to a terminal illness. I get it, we all have a different opinion or idea on how to 'live' financially, but not all 'debt' is life threatening. And if it is, we did something wrong. Assuming or guessing how another person 'affords' what they have is just that - guessing. As a retired enlisted man, on a fixed income, I know where I stand. Being realistic & honest with ourselves regarding our disposable income is important. But Debt is not death. Conducting what I like to call 'creative financing' can enable one to safely & substantially upgrade their deal. 'Running from debt' is non-sense IMO, unless we do it irresponsibly. Just like anything else in life. Learn or burn. "Waiting" for the prices to come down or for that 'special deal' to fall our your lap, is IMO, a waste of quality time. Time none of us are guaranteed. btw, I financed a portion of my rigs cost and I lease my trucks. Turn it in for a new one every 3 years and I can still buy food. Come At me Bro . . . . A-Jay
  12. Only ever used it in any environment where the gag reflex would otherwise be very strong. Went with an application to the upper lip or even just about in the nostrils depending on the level of noxiousness. A little goes a long way right there. Will say that if I did happen to be a little congested, it seems to help some. A-Jay

  14. For traditional Baja California-style fish tacos I go with battered and fried fish, usually cod, haddock, or snapper. All excellent fried. For Grilled Fish Tacos I prefer a fish that holds up well over high heat and won't fall apart on the grill. So I lean towards fattier fish like tuna & salmon. For a more steak like texture, swordfish and halibut work well. Mako shark is a real sleeper right here too. A little harder to find sometimes. A-Jay
