Outside My Comfort Zone
New deals for 2023 ~ Nothing actually ‘new’, more like different version of a reoccurring theme. ~ Megabass Pop Max GG Mid Night Bone Love at first sight with this one. The yellow belly got me. ~ Megabass Vision 110 R Hi-Float: in GG Perch OB. There are a few deals where having a jerkbait that I can fish Slowly in skinny water could be advantageous. We’ll see. ~Megabass SV-3 Double Willow Spinnerbait 3/8 & ½ oz. Ayu and Whit Chart. Complete Bait Monkey deal right here. ~ Z-Man Chatterbait Mini Max: Had to see what all the hype was about. Just got Green Pumpkin a few each in 3/8 & ½ oz along with some 3 inch Yamamoto Zako Swimbait trailers also in Green Pumpkin. Haven’t decided what tackle to fish this one on yet. Some trial & error is in my future. A-Jay

Stuff you sprinkle on food.
OK - I'll admit that I do not put this in my oatmeal. Or my protein drinks. But every Meat, Carb & vegetable - it's a hard yes. And I eat a metric ton of chicken. A-Jay

Stuff you sprinkle on food.
Yup ~ I think I'm allergic to it or something. Because there's nothing natural about my reaction to MSG. Unless we're calling the fetal position natural. A-Jay

Stuff you sprinkle on food.
And that's one reason I do not go out to eat or get take out anymore. Not worth it. A-Jay

Trolling motor too long?
I'd cut it down. Otherwise I'd be smacking that thing with the bait or my rod ever other cast. No Good. A-Jay

Stuff you sprinkle on food.
Sure it tastes great. But the Second ingredient is MSG. After one serving I would have The HEADACHE from H E double hockey sticks ! A-Jay

Custom plastic shops you guys use?
@Jimmy C Been using Paul Krew Custom Hand Poured Baits for a while now. He offer's quite a variety of high quality baits. Plus he'll make whatever color you want in a bait. He makes me a sweet little goby swimbait I use as a vibrating jig trailer and have been extremely pleased with. I've ordered & re-ordered several times. His stuff is all pretty soft so if supreme durability is a big concern for you, then I'd recommend passing on these. But if you like to get bites, then these do that for me. He works off FB . . . https://www.facebook.com/PaulKrewCustomHandPouredBaits/photos And here ~ https://paulkrew.com/?fbclid=IwAR1hGEztfHp4ir_XSiXi-1cBXKeQO5j-stbbm7JjrAvah5CyO-TCxSvz958 A-Jay

G&T, crappy MTV and winter storms
We are all rock stars when everything is going our way. A little motion on the ocean can show us who we really are. You set the tone. How's that working out ? #beaman ? A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
One of the most powerful forces in the world is a product of the human mind and will. That product is — consistency. With consistency, we have the ability to push past frustration, indecision, procrastination, and all sorts of -ions and -isms. Without consistency, even the best laid plans often remain unfulfilled and gather dust as time passes and dreams become passing visions. “If we are persistent, we will get it. If we are consistent, we will keep it.” #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Your funny or memorable puppy love/crushes from elementary/middle school
It was summer. We were both so young. The loved seemed so big & so real. And then she pee'd on the kitchen floor. A-Jay

Boat Loan
@Jonald First off, I am not an expert in boat shopping or boat finance. But I have done both at least once, successfully (in my own mind anyway). Here's my version . . . . Just like shopping for a boat, sounds like you'll also need to shop for a loan. I say 'shop' because that's what you're doing. I think sometimes we feel like the bank or whatever entity we use, is doing us a favor by lending us $$$. That's BS; especially today. They all get a pretty penny in interest and need to earn our business, IMO. Perhaps consider not trying shop for the boat & the loan all at once. Break it up in two 'steps' or 'phases' and it might seen less overwhelming. So first, pick out the rig you want, get with your dealer and outfit the entire deal exactly how you want it. Oh, and make sure you do a meet & greet with the 'service manager' & the service department, because after the sale, THAT'S who you'll be dealing with. Not the sales staff. Once you get the boat, motor & trailer set, get an itemized written quote. With that in hand, now you know what you're going to spend and you can develop a plan for financing it. Now phase two, shopping for a loan. Knowing what you'll need (and maybe even a little more for the first year's insurance) can be very beneficial by boosting your confidence. You can compare rates and perhaps even haggle a little with lenders. Especially effective with one or more loans quotes in hand and if you do it face to face, rather than over the phone. (I'm that guy.) This process should be fun and exciting not worrisome. It certainly can be but it's up to us to put in the work and know what we want/need and most importantly - why. Good Luck and I'm looking forward to seeing the pics of you in your new rig ! A-Jay

Winter 2022-23
I don't follow any ice reports until we are at least on page 3 of the calendar year. Also, and this might be sort of by design (insert self preservation), There are No Lake Menderchucks on any road I routinely use during hard water, so I have to make a 'special' trip to see what's what. A-Jay

Rod selection decision
Wow, you guys are very detailed. I just go by color. Sometimes I like blue ones. Other times red is nice. I just never never know what I'll be wanting on any given day . . . ? A-Jay

Winter 2022-23
With just a few inches of snow left on the ground locally, looks like we're getting a little more. Thursday's Winter Storm Watch is calling for 4-8 inches with some freezing rain mixed in. Once that mess blows out, day & night time air temps are expected to stay well above zero. All & All still a pretty tame 'winter'. I'm not going to call it lame because you know the snow monkey probably would take that personally. A-Jay

Very interesting bass behavior study on Toledo Bend
Very interesting information. What it reconfirms for me is that bass survival instincts are strong and will have them continually adapt to meet that end. Been doing it for a long time. FFS is just the latest deal the bass in pressured water will have to adjust to. And we can bet they will. A-Jay

J.J.'s Magic/dye Storage
Nice ~ Perhaps consider adding at least an inch or so of some type of 'foam' in the bottom. Cut a couple of 'jar sized' hole in it. May help with cargo stability. Can you smell what I'm cookin' ? A-Jay A-Jay

Keitech Fat
Yes ~ but there's a caveat. While I do use the same gear for the Megabass Dark Sleeper, I do not fish the Storm Wildeye locally. Just never produced here for me. However the caveat is fishing it south of the border. The 5" & especially the 6" Storm Wildeye Shad has been my weapon of mass destruction of Giant Green Bass in Mexico. So gear is mostly heavy (some MH) sticks with 20 & 25 lb FC. Local forage is tilapia so the bass really key in & choke this thing. I would add some video too but it's a little obscene. A-Jay

Swim jigs
I fish clear natural lakes. Success for me comes with natural colors / patterns that come 'close to' matching the resident forage. I use an assortment of trailers. A-Jay

Great article
I'm getting closer to wrapping it up early myself. Must be the lack of sub-zero weather. Btw that 'list', makes for a nice starter kit. Yes, I live in the world of over-kill. A-Jay
