  1. I was very close to naming this one myself. Pretty sure I still have a bulk supply in the bowels of my tackle room. But instead, and since the worm is already represented, I am going with the vintage Rapala Minnow. A-Jay
  2. Still enjoying (insert enduring) a full-on winter experience here in the north woods. I'm looking at 100 days until my projected open water date. And it's Tanker Tuesday. Here's a couple that went into the net a few summers ago. We had a great visit. The attached video of these catches includes a bit of colorful language. Might not be appropriate for sensitive ears. https://youtu.be/sITpRNLz_04?si=HtxrMfQbHMK2ksDx A-Jay
  3. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  4. I do use a clamp. Here's my whole setup—I have upgraded my cameras. But everything else is the same. https://youtu.be/VBiOQxaANeU?si=7izWAF1kNcEa_WKn A-Jay
  5. Supplemental story information indicates this catch will eventually be disqualified. Records show that Forward Facing Sonar was not utilized. Just bad judgment, I guess. A-Jay
  6. I tried the mega big ones and put loads of content on it, only to have it go bad, and I lost some stuff I would have liked to have back. (First several years of fishing in Mexico - very hurt by that). So my advice is to use the smallest memory device that will suit your needs and only put one year on each one. That way if & when it fries out, you'll only lose that one year's worth of stuff. I also lost a bunch when my PC got hit with a wicked virus a few years back. That's when I started saving content off my PC. A-Jay
  7. I've been through this myself. My file organization solution has evolved into the following, and it's been good. Each fishing year gets a separate folder—Fishing 2026, for instance. In the folder, every fishing trip I have any content, I make a new folder for named with the date. Inside each trip folder I keep all the video & Pics from that trip. At the end of the year I download that folder and its contents to an external drive. Eventually I'll clean them off my PC but still have them on the drive. When I want or need to go back to something, I just need the year and the date of the trip, and it's all right there. Of course some of my trips end up as YouTube videos. So most everything I use to make the video is in that folder. Comes in real handy when I want to do "A Year in Review" deal. Good Luck A-Jay
  8. I ran batteries for YEARS before I switched to the Juicebank by YoloTek. https://yolotek.com/products/juicebank-black-gopro-battery-mount-7800mah-lithum-ion The batteries work fine - even in Mexico. Through the past several years, as GoPro started adding features, the cameras started running hotter and hotter. They have been using the same outdated processor in these cameras for too long. I'd be happier with a quality video and a simple one-button point and shoot. I use less than half of what the camera 'can do'. Features I do not need/use, and I can turn it 'off', I have. Just update the processor to handle the load and be done with it. When I am using the camera for a short shoot, I'll use a battery, and it's always fine. Not sure if the 13 will burn through a battery or overheat first. Batteries last less time the more I use them. (I ONLY use GoPro batteries; knock-offs are junk IMO. Been there). After half a season, 30 minutes of constant running, and the battery is usually toast. I have a trip planned for Mexico in Oct 26. We use two cameras. One runs the entire time we fish, and the other is for the fish pic , weigh, and release. We decided that rather than deal with the overheating, we are going to turn one camera on once one of us hooks up with a scoreable bass and then shut it down after the release. Should be good with that. If you follow my exploits down south, you'll see how it goes one way or the other. A-Jay
  9. I always capture my adventures with the highest quality video the recording circumstance will allow. GoPro advertises that they have such high-quality video, I pay for it, then I can't use it ? Makes no sense. Here in Michigan it only happens on the hottest days. Think sunny and usually over 80 degrees with no wind. I do most of my fishing early & late season so it's not a huge problem. In the summer when I'm in the canoe with my wife, it happens a few times a year. But in Mexico I think you can see where it's a problem. We work around it as best we can, but it gets old. I use an external battery pack in lieu of batteries for juice. I NEVER LOOP my recording because the process makes it way too easy to forget to hit save and record right over something you want to keep - forever. Bottom line, I like my Gopros and have been able to successfully load over a thousand videos using them. Just think that this overheating deal could be overcome if they wanted to and I'm even willing to pay for the upgrade. Just make it happen. The newest model, the 14, expected next year, is reported to be coming with an updated 3.0 processor. Hope that works. Either way, I'll keep filming (and cursing as needed). A-Jay
  10. Got another 8-12 inches overnight. Skipping my scheduled training to clear it away. It's a perfect 20 degrees with light winds, so at least I'll be comfortable. A-Jay
  11. Google DJI Osmo overheating and see if you still feel the same way. My results seem to indicate that DJI Osmo models, especially when recording in high resolutions (like 4K or 8K) and high frame rates (like 60fps), are prone to overheating and shutting down, though performance varies by model, firmware, temperature, and settings. Issues are common in warm conditions or direct sun, with solutions involving lowering settings, taking breaks, ensuring good airflow, and sometimes using external cooling or power handles differently. 12. During the 4th quarter both fan bases went for pooping to happy to pooping to happy and back to pooping again ~ Pretty intense A-Jay
  13. Too much ? If the additions make you happy, then perhaps not. I don't see the need to justify whatever you install based on anothers opinion. I care about what I have and what works for me. YMMV. Good Luck A-Jay
  14. Gopros running for hours have been known to overheat and shut down. When using external power, removing the battery from the camera can help delay the problem. But when it is way hot and in the sun, say over 85 degrees F, shutting down at the most inopputune time is a real reality. Might even lose previously save content. Hope the new 3.0 processor addresses this. Other wise keeping video brief is really the only way to manage it effectively. Good luck A-Jay
  15. I've mentioned this a few times during blade bait discussions here, but it really does bear dropping it here again. Fishing the Duo Realis G-Fix Vibration Tungsten Lipless Crankbait in lieu of a blade bait can be Really Really Really good (and that was 3 really's) It's a thin, dense rattle bait that casts a mile, gets deep quickly, and stays there. I prefer to present it in the same way and in the same places as a blade bait. A very small, medium-speed lift off the bottom, just enough to feel the rattle for just a second, and then let it glide back to the bottom on a tight line. A brief rest on the bottom and then go again. Bites come on the fall, AND brown bass will eat it right off the bottom at times. Just so good. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Duo_Realis_G-Fix_Vibration_Tungsten_Lipless_Crankbait/descpage-DUOGFXL.html I use the 3/4 ounce bait exclusively. This Tule Perch ND is pretty good. 16. I do have this on the list above, so I at least addressed it. Bottle Jack Stabilizer https://safejacks.com/products/universal-bottle-jack-stabilizer I've already mounted this to the jack (and tested it), so it's ready for service when needed. Wheel bearing grease of choice for me is Corrosion X https://www.corrosionx.com/collections/lubricants/products/corrosionx-grease?variant=31163666563168 A-Jay
  17. I was asked by a BR member in a PM regarding what I carry on the road to manage challenges that might come up. I figured it might spark some discussion as well as offer an opportunity to provide supplemental information from this most experienced group. So this is what I got. I have a Truck Box in the bed of my rig that has a variety of gear. As it pertains to my towing and trailer, I'll list them below. These are links to the specific items I carry. Surge Brake Lockout Key W/Magnetic Lock Out Key FITS for UFP Type Surge Brakes ON Boat Trailer I carry 2 for redundancy https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08W9PHZM4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A14RAVZ5EMKC0M&psc=1 Bottle Jack Recovery Kit with 6 Ton Bottle Jack https://safejacks.com/products/basic-bottle-jack-kit Bottle Jack Stabilizer https://safejacks.com/products/universal-bottle-jack-stabilizer Ergodyne ProFlex 380 Kneeling Pad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K34WCVS?ref_=pe_123509780_1038749300_t_fed_asin_title&th=1 VIAIR 300P - 30033 Tire Inflator Portable Offroad Air Compressor for Truck & SUV, 12V On/Off Road Tire Pump Air Compressor Portable Heavy Duty 150 PSI https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X90YUO/ref=pe_386300_440135490_TE_simp_item_image?th=1 two Stainless Steel 75 PSI Pencil Tire Pressure Gauges NOCO GB702000A 12V Boost HD UltraSafe Jump Starter https://no.co/gb70 A breaker bar for stuck lug nuts and half dozen extra lug nuts. https://www.gorilla-auto.com/gorilla-automotive-000000000000001721?srsltid=AfmBOorP7qwlh5-2QlvH3R9YMQfRXRA4shtk2Ftwx4iWDncFkkmNFbOc Make sure you have a socket that fits both your trailer wheel and spare trailer tire lugs because it's probably not the same size as your tow rig's lugs - usually by design. Truck lugs are 3/4"and my trailer wheel and spare are a thin-walled deep 13/16"; it's not very common Oh, and get two ! I think that's most of it. A-Jay
  18. As the waters cool off up here in the northern mid-west, one of my favorite techniques comes back into play - Blade Baits. The air & water might be cool or even down right cold - but the blade bite can be Smoking Hot ! Up until recently, my success with this technique was marginal at best. A few years ago I watched the attached video trying to gain some insight as to why I was not getting the results I expected. Mr Scott Dobson's approach to fishing these baits was a GAME CHANGER. The less is best deal Really worked for me - A fairly weed free clean bottom of sand or gravel really helps here. If you have the right conditions and haven't tried this yet, or have but would like to give it another shot, watch this clip. Reproduce this technique the best you can and have the net, scale & camera rolling. You'll be glad you did. A-Jay https://youtu.be/kLOoWcoPIK4?si=93Gel0pX0mArr2Eu

OK ~ For air temps and or wind chills on the water that dip into or below the 30's, I wear a moisture wicking (thin) base layer top & bottom. Brands are Columbia, Simms, & Under Amour. Second layer is mid to heavy weight Thermal Midlayer top & bottom (Simms) Next is a thermal wind blocking fleece heavy weight Hoodie. (Simms) Finally I cover it all up with a Simms Insulated Challenger Jacket & Bibs. The feets get Cabela's Midcalf Polypropylene Liner, Simms Men's Merino Thermal OTC Socks, and slightly oversized Columbia Titanium Insulated Boots. A-Jay

  22. Workout Day 4 ~ Once I understood that each day isn't one more day but one less, it helped me to focus on the things that truly matter. This is one of them. #borninfiftynine https://youtu.be/KlR6FiOtUFY?si=C2EmOjG9x0tnUDM1 A-Jay
  23. Here's this mornings updated northern Michigan snowfall totals so far ~ 80.4 inches here seems about right. A-Jay
  24. Improving ourselves takes a commitment to self-awareness, setting clear goals, building supportive habits, stepping out of your comfort zone, and consistently learning from both successes and failures. Focusing on consistent small actions rather than perfection to foster lifelong growth in knowledge, character, and well-being. I film my fishing. I have mentioned many times here that I believe it has helped me become a much better bass fisherman. It has made me safer on the water. It has shown me the importance of keeping the deck of my rig clean & well organized. Having my net & fish handling tools ready and available. Video replay has made me better at hooksets, fighting, and landing fish. I actually developed a repeatable fish landing and handling process that is both effective and helpful when it comes to safe fish release. It has helped me streamline and make my boat launching and recovering procedures safer. Bottom line - I get out of it exactly what I'm willing to put into it. And the word "hassle" doesn't come into play here for me. Good Luck. A-Jay
