Not yet but hope to be soon. And when I do, a hair jigs is THE MOST 'do nothing' presentation I do. Long cast, reel slow. Virtually no other angler in put. Most anything else done reduces bites for me. I will change speeds during a retrieve from slow to slower for a few feet. Often times can cause a follower to sort of run up on the bait without knowing it's coming and get a bite. Just don't stop it, keep it moving. I like the bottom third of the water column, but not necessarily on the bottom. Sort of like a ned rig - A-Jay
  5. 65 degrees here yesterday ~ Lakes still froze. Thunder Storms last night and cold / rain next several days. Feels worse than Deep winter right now waiting for this one . . . . A-Jay

  7. When it comes to mainline & backing, regardless of either lines type or size, or reel type or spool size, I've been doing something close to 1/3 spool backing and the rest mainline. Allows for end to end change out with the braid if & when it wears and has worked well for the FC. BTW, I tried the braid backing deal too and didn't care for it. Depending on spool size & depth, unless I spun it on with MAX tension, it seemed to ride sort of wonky on the spool shaft which made me a little mental. I mean more than usual. Went back to mono. 8. There is a plethora of good quality swim baits and matching jig heads to choose from now. On line vendors literally list what seems like hundreds. I’ve fished a dozen or so types & brands. To keep it simple, I’ve pretty much settled on the ones listed below. I do prefer softer baits in the 3 to 5 inch size range, with something close to 4 inch being a big player. While clearly less durable, I seem to get more bites. Along with that, having the right action, especially on the fall, is a must for me. When it comes to jighead shape, design and the all-important hook, again I like to keep it simple but here I am fairly particular. Brand Name is my desired direction but will go with a Lesser-known deal when there’s merit. I am eternally looking for jigheads with a quality medium and medium light wire hook that is also The Right Length. Too stout here can be tricky to sink on the medium gear I use; especially on a long cast or very deep running bait. Additionally, too long of a hook seems to ‘mute’ and can even over power a bait. I seem to get the best action when the bend is coming out the top of the bait no more than half way back of the baits overall length. More than that is No Bueno. My favorite heads match up to baits when they only go in about a third of the way (if that makes sense). 16. With just over an hour of fishing time left Wesley Strader is one decent scoreable bass below the cut line. He just lost what looked like a likely candidate boat side. After which WS proceeded to 'throw a conniption fit'. Although carried out off camera, it is easily identified by a spontaneous outburst of anger or frustration. Wild animation, gesticulations, and flailing of limbs often accompanies said outburst, adding visual flavor to the experience. #beenthere A-Jay
