  2. Great Bass ! Congrats and Welcome to the 6 lb Club A-Jay
  3. Right here ~ However the 26 lb test might be a better option to match the mainline strength . https://www.amazon.com/American-Fishing-Wire-Surflon-Stainless/dp/B000EOK6HO/ref=asc_df_B000EOK6HO?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80058245652964&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583657822006805&th=1&psc=1 A-Jay
  4. Total Body Workout #2 this morning. Felt like I needed to give my joints & connective tissue a bit of a break. So I reduced the weights/resistance while slowing my training tempo down quite a bit. Felt Good. A-Jay
  5. At my best spots, I'll repeatedly snag these guys; usually with a rattle or blade bait. Almost always around or on zebra mussel beds. Which is my new favorite "hard cover" btw. A-Jay
  6. Thanks ~ I have and fish the 1/4 and 3/8's. The slower I fish it the better. btw - these baits Are Effective All season, not just in the cool or colder water. A-Jay
  7. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Interesting first post. A-Jay
  8. I do not possess nearly enough expertise to say how in the long run, the Goby population will affect any body of water that has them. What I can say is, of the inland lakes I fish, the ones that have these; ALL have the Full Framed, Deep Bodied fish I just don't see on lakes that do not have a goby population. It's like a different species. A-Jay
  9. 110 fish . . . A-Jay
  10. Might inspire the design & development of the new Googan Daindraft swimbait. A-Jay
  11. Thanks but Big Fish Jeff who does fancy himself a bit of a glide bait aficionado has throw them a few times there. Caught a few but no real mutants. Admittely, most times the fish we were targeting were holding what I would guess is just a bit deeper than he would have liked. Either way, if that guy isn't getting giants on it, I stand no chance. #prognosisnegative A-Jay
  12. Pretty sure he's just returning the favor. Either way, must be nice. A-Jay
  13. If & when I am "researching" info about tackle, especially when it relates to something specific I am doing or looking to improve/get into, I will often seek the counsel of experienced anglers. While that can and often does include folks who are deemed Pros, there are plenty of bassheads on this very forum who have at least the same level of experience and expertise, if not much more. Having something dialed in comes in all shapes, sizes and ages. IMO, no sense limiting myself when it comes to the information pool. It's worked out OK so far. A-Jay
  14. I'll have what he's having ~ A-Jay
  15. My jerkbait "retrieve" & approach changes a little with the water temp, the time of the year and the mood of the fish but the basic premise is almost always the same. I'm strivinging to make the bait look like it's trying to get away, but not doing a very good job. Over working the bait seems to be counterproductive almost all the time. I talk about it briefly here https://youtu.be/yfnYSE-HjIE?t=1736 A-Jay
  16. I hear Ya ~ I've been doing it for a while (insert a few decades). Even do topwater with it; especially walking baits. Really fits the bill for me fishing in a stiff breeze. https://youtu.be/s5YAlFDZ_C4?t=990 A-Jay
  17. I've been known to throw a jerkbait now & again. I use a M/F stick with braid & a FC or mono leader on spinning gear 75 % of the time And a M/F blank with FC on casting gear the other 25% Both work for me A-Jay
  18. Cool ~ I am really looking forward to the reports. No doubt they'll be killer ! A-Jay
  19. The infamous 1/2 oz Thunder Goby ! A-Jay
  20. Yup ~ They are a search tool for me now too. Because if you look for one in my rig . . . you'll be searching ! A-Jay
  21. Bringing in the New Year the best way I know how. Two working sets got it done this morning. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  22. I totally get it - no worries. And despite JJ's other worldly success fishing a plain jig, it might be awhile before I can make that leap. Still, ya never know . . . . . A-Jay
  23. It has been so stipulated in Tip # 2 above. A-Jay
  24. Holy Smokes, I just realized, this thread is from last year ! A-Jay
  25. With this new year being ushered in by a brisk & bitter wind whistling through the pines and something close to 13 more weeks of hard water ahead of me, I've got some time on my hands. Yup, plenty of Time; time think about how last fishing season went. So specifically, and to address the title of this thread, the question is . . . Is there an aspect of your fishing that you participated/engaged in last year, that didn't work out the way you expected and that you'll most likely not be repeating; perhaps ever ? Whether it be an approach, a technique, a presentation, maybe a particular body of water that was excessively vacant of bass or whatever, it was mostly a negative deal and you're done with it. I have two. First one is a presentation - Glide baits. Now I know they catch fish, and some big ones. But for whatever reason, not for me. I just don't get it. Not only did I throw these wacky baits all ALL my favorite big fish haunts last year, I've been hurling these things all over northern Michigan for going on 3 seasons ! Well, not anymore, my current glide bait inventory is ZERO. I sold them all and have NO plans to change that. Free at last ! Second deal probably falls under the 'approach' category. Long story short, I will be fishing the 2022 season with less rods & reels. And 'less' may be a relative term in this case. Either way, leaving close to half of what I routinely load into the rod locker, hanging in the garage, will make having access to what I do take, a whole lot easier. I'll have to make do and we'll see how it goes. So that's the deal for me. What say you ? Fish Hard (with less and no Glide Baits) A-Jay
