  1. Lynn & I are celebrating our 26th today. She walked into my life so effortlessly. Like she was meant to be there. I didn’t know it then, but that hello would become one of the most important of my life. The one that made my heart feel alive again. I am indeed a Lucky Man. A-Jay
  2. It matters to me and I like quality Cork. The end. An exposed reel seat sounds cool and probably sells rods. But I do not expect it to make any difference in my ability to determine what my bait is doing at any point. YMMV A-Jay
  3. I would gladly trade you a bad alternator for a wonky crankshaft . . . . #L87 🙄 A-Jay
  4. I hear ya ~ So in order for your motor to have 3,500 hours on it on 21 years of service . . . . If you made 100 trips a year (averaging 8 a month) you would have to run the motor for just over 90 minutes per trip. If you made 50 trips per year, you'd need to run it for just over 3 hours per trip. Might be fewer hours on it than you think . . . A-Jay
  5. While knowing the 'hours' can be helpful, Compression, I believe, will be a better indicator of the health of the motor. And that can most certainly be determined. Good Luck A-Jay

  7. What a giant! It looks like you picked the right day too. Sunny, with no hat or gloves needed Congrats A-Jay
  8. While I do take care of my gear and treat it in a manner that promotes longevity, the few times I've blown up a guide or fractured an insert, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered what it was made of. The survival rate was going to be very low. Like I said, that's a rare occurrence. So I say go with whatever guides you prefer and just get to casting. A-Jay
  9. Everything that includes the word "cyber" or the letters EV in the name of it. A-Jay
  10. On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to them and their families. A-Jay
  11. Cold spring mornings are the norm here but it almost always warms up. The important part is I get bites, sometimes big ones. In fact, a couple of Aprils ago I had a decent morning in the snow. Never really warmed up much that day, but I wasn't complaining. https://youtu.be/k3Z48BqFWuw?si=4C5OUO4FGA9NjsQZ Late season, if the 'high' for the day is below 40 - I'm staying by the wood stove. Air temps above 40 with winds forecast below 10 mph I'll chance it. I've done the frozen line in the guides, the frozen reels and the frozen human deal enough times to know, that I'm not a fan. Stay Safe. 🥶 A-Jay
  12. Just looked it up ~ Just so Classic in a couple of ways. Definitely gets my endorsement for another Bud Light "Real Men of Genius." https://youtu.be/nDxfBX_DVE0?si=10y0OaBgmoLwHE-I #loser A-Jay
  13. I've been fishing the Daiwa TATULA Elite AGS 7'6" Seth Feider - Hair Jig / Neko Rig rod since 2018. I use it for hair jigs and ned rigs. I like it. https://youtu.be/3OXnPQs0bqQ?si=BbfhPzizwOWyzja9&t=26 https://youtu.be/KuPRtdajOLU?si=9Ut0UCNkwfQMQs1N&t=116 A-Jay
  14. I didn't realize that the bait monkey was also a miner. He helped me strike Gold ! Alien Gold . . . A-Jay
  15. This ~ Also a friendly reminder. We can check the life jacket inflation integrity without canister discharge by using the manual oral inflation tube. Most every inflatable jacket has one. I test my own unit at the beginning of each season in the tackle room. Also, when the canister needs replacement, before I do it, I put the jacket on and fire off the manual pull feature. Offers another way to ensure the unit operates correctly. These things build confidence for me. Stay Safe. A-Jay
  16. It's been 'feeling' like it for a few days now and we finally got our first measurable snow last night. A whopping 1 inch. Some left in the grass but nothing on the roads. It shouldn't be much longer before we get a few lake-effect dumpings. With a 150-inch annual snowfall average, there needs to be at least an inch falling every day now for the next 5 months or so. The faster the lakes freeze over, the less evaporation occurs which is both a good and a bad thing. Longer open water means more snow, which could be good. But it also often results in lower lake levels if it stays too warm for snow. Last year was great for the area on both fronts. (except for the super damaging ice storm in March). Time will tell how this season plays out. Stay Warm A-Jay
  17. Well, I'll have you know that I thoroughly enjoy each and every one. Thank you very much for taking the time and extra effort. A-Jay
  18. The 200 hp ProXS is a 4.6L V8—"fuel efficiency" seems about right for how I run it and what I get out of it. Truth be told, I pay more attention to the tach, trim, engine temp & water pressure than I ever do to the fuel gauge. Either way, after 5000 rpms, it's fun but she gets pretty thirsty. A-Jay

  24. I get that. When I'm looking to fish bite windows, I'll camp out. When I get bites, obviously I'm staying well past when the batteries die in my GoPros. No bites through whatever I believe the duration of a bite window might be, I might stay a little longer but usually I'm bailing and heading toward plan B. A perfect example of that is when the early morning shallow water topwater bite is over. Often fades as the daylight or sun gets brighter. Finally, if this topic is directed at derby participants, then my deal is most likely far less applicable. Because "time is on my side, yes it is." https://youtu.be/TUA-s2SZZr0?si=rmHU75u2fqnUX2__ A-Jay
  25. My best waters are bigger waters, relatively speaking. My style/process is to hunt areas/spots. The next part of that is to vary my 'timing' when fishing said spots. Clearly early and later in the day are by far the best 'times.' However, there's plenty of room for variation on that. So being a bit flexible and adaptable can occasionally produce. All that said, I am SQUARELY in the CAMP OUT category. In fact, I almost always want to be there 'earlier' than I believe I need to. I want to be set up & quiet when she comes by. Many times I do not fish in advance of when I think the bite window will happen. Mind you, this often occurs in some skinny water (a relative term for big water brown bass). However since the bass need to be within casting distance and with the gin-clear water here, Stealth is a lifestyle. It often takes me years to locate a few golden zones. So doing whatever I need to not to jack it up becomes the mission. YMMV https://youtu.be/zIqCmH_52IQ?si=67q3l5uUeBjdOgxG&t=2048 A-Jay
