10 Million Dollar Lawsuit Filed in Obion County Central Bass Team Death
My thoughts are that this is another tragic accident with loss of life. While I am not familiar with the circumstances surrounding this incident, I will say that having a suitable & serviceable anchor readily accessible along with sufficient length of quality anchor line, can sometimes save your life. Especially in areas with current and a dam. A-Jay

Rods out of stock. Sign of the times?
I recently reached out to St Croix regarding this very topic. I sent this first week of March "Good Day, I am a staunch St Croix fan and have been for many years. I am looking to update my gear and want to replace my current arsenal of casting & spinning rods with the new Legend Tournament Bass line. But the ENTIRE line of rods continues to be out of stock ? What is up with that ? Any idea when you'll be able to restock these rods ? It's very frustrating." They replied with this . . . Thank you very much for choosing St. Croix and allowing us to partner with you in your angling adventures. We have received your email regarding the availability of our rods. There has been an increase in 8M anglers creating excessive demand in the fishing industry. So far, we have increased production 67% since June 2020. We are improving our process and working hard to improve product availability, but demand remains very high right now. We recommend you contact our Customer Center when you are ready to place an order. Even if the specific model is not available we will be able to place on back order, so you can receive as soon as available. The Customer Center is open every weekday for your convenience from 8 am. - 4 pm., central time at 1.800.826.7042. Thank you. Might see how it goes with these new Victory rods. I may go that way instead. A-Jay

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Here's one I might like to perhaps check out . . O.H. Ingram River Aged Straight Whiskey is the only whiskey aged inside a first-of-its-kind floating rickhouse moored on the riverbank in Ballard County, KY. The constant motion of the river ensures that the whiskey never stops working, creating an extraordinary spirit with a taste mature beyond its years. Talk about float your boat ~ wait what ? ? A-Jay

Mustang Survival Elite HIT Inflatable PFD Rearming Kit ~ The Saga
Thank you -- Still no way to know what you're going to get. I've got emails out to 3 vendors inquiring as to what the expiration date on the units they are selling actually is. No reply means no order. A-Jay

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
I don't drink hardly at all any more so when I do, I need it to be very good. Otherwise, I'm very sad. I will always go a quality bourbon before most anything else. Tin Cup got me with their add a year ago I guess. Some chucklehead climbing a mountain ? Still have the bottle and the little stupid cup as a reminder. A-Jay

Good Question. Especially in the case of the THREE 2019 jobs they sent me that are 2 years past toast. Someone needs training. A-Jay

Mustang Survival Elite HIT Inflatable PFD Rearming Kit ~ The Saga
If you have auto inflated PFD's, now's a good time to check them for serviceability. A week or so back, I ordered/purchased a pair of these online from Cabelas as my current units expired at the end of 2020 . Admittedly I was a little surprised at the $79 price tag but whatever. So they arrived a few days later- but they sent me expired units; a 2019 and a 2020; nice. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Customer service. They were polite & professional and helped with the return process. They apologized and I was ensured that this would not happen again. So I ordered two more. Guess who just got two more EXPIRED units ? This guy. Both 2019 this time Yup, I'm that dumb. Fortunately, I waited before returning the first two, so if by chance it happened again, I could use the pre-paid FEDEX shipping label they sent for all FOUR. Just dropped off the box. So, the search continues. Inventory seems to be low many places. A-Jay

Bass Fishing's Greatest Record
The debates over old record catches will probably continue forever, like folklore. Especially some of the older submissions that seem to have zany or even contradicting information. This MA record might be one of those. This pic is a FLMB caught by Big Fish Jeff, she was barely 26 inches long (didn't get the girth, should have though) and pulled our scales down to 12.23 lbs. These fish seem to carry their weight the entire length of their bodies. It may be different for NLMB but I've never seen a DD NLMB so I can't say for sure. Either way, if this fish was 30 inches long, hard to know what she would really weigh but I'm confident in saying that the extra 4 inches would equate to something quite a bit more that 2 lbs. #bigbassarefun A-Jay

Fishing slow at Tepic Nayarit
Nicely Done ~ Just to offer a bit of A-Rig support, I fished 5 or 6 different A-Rings for two full seasons locally before I even got a bump. I was pretty excited to get my first strike but lost the bass, a 2 lb brown one. But I kept at it. Changed up my approach several times before I 'figured it out'. That next season I caught several plus size bass doing something totally different than 'I thought" in need to do. Now, I'm mostly addicted to throwing it. My deal will never be anything you could use there but I just wanted to say, hang in there, There's Hope. A-Jay

Minnkota Talon Sandwich Brackets void Mercury warranty
I hear ya - In 2007 when I retired & move up here, I was constantly looking to 'up grade' from the Old Town Canoe to a craft that would be right for me here; and there's quite a bit to that. IMO, it didn't exist and so I tooled around in the canoe for over 10 years waiting & hoping someone would offer what I needed. Once I went and crawled around one of these at a boat show near Detroit in Jan 2016, (despite being there for two days) it took about 10 minutes and there was no doubt in my mind what was going to happen next. The rest is history as they say. Best of Luck with your shopping & your choice, whatever it may be. A-Jay

My GoPro is coming today. What body mount?
Perhaps something to keep in mind when making your decision . . . . The challenging aspect of a head mount centers around the wearers ability to maintain the camera focus on whatever the wearer is doing, the entire time the camera is on. When the head is looking all over the place, as a watcher, nausea ensues; at least for me. The chest mount can be OK. However when bass fishing, the anglers hands, rod & reel are usually pretty close to the camera. So often times that's mostly what ends up being recorded. Good Luck A-Jay

Minnkota Talon Sandwich Brackets void Mercury warranty
I don't believe so ~ at least not the way my rig is set up. During speeds at or slower than clutch, this one doesn't 'track' quite like a walleye rig, at least not without significant operator input. Suppose it might be different with a kicker but I haven't seen a Pro-V Bass sporting one yet so who knows. Either way, Big motor Trolling's not a huge part of my approach. The little I do involves hair jigs & spybaits and always happens with the Fortrex at about 1 mph. My advice is if 'true trolling' will be a significant part of your fishing plan for the replacement rig, definitely drive the Pro-V bass in advance of your purchase and check that aspect of it out. btw ~ You have impeccable taste in rigs sir ~ ! Average Bass Tackle Length of Cast?
Perhaps we should review the "Reports" thread and note just how many posts specifically mention anything about just how critical to the posters success it was to consistently unleash 100 yard casts . . . Personally, I do not recall very many. A-Jay
