I had several magic days on smallmouth water fishing a rattle bait low & slow in the same fashion that I do a blade bait; in particular, early & especially late season. While most any lippless bait can perform decent here, the Duo Realis G-Fix being a tungsten filled, super thin profiled bait, seems to excel for this deep water usually cleaner or hard bottom application. For brown bass, "Sun" is usually good but it seems to depend on the time of year. Early & late season, sun is almost a must. Summer, not so much. I've caught plus size fish during all types of deals. So by itself, considering sun or overcast might be hard to quantify. Mix in the wind or a change in water turbidity, and that changes things for me. A-Jay

While I do not 'make' my own spinnerbaits from scratch, I will always tweak a bait where & when I can to remove bogus components and replace them with quality parts. So I agree with most everything @Bluebasser86 noted above. One of my biggest gripes centers on the split rings that hold the swivel & the blades. Often times big brown bass will smash the blades and take them right off; especially at night. Totally bums me out bringing back a bladeless bait. So that's one of the first things I check & change. It's a fine line between stout and too much ring on this deal. Either way, I am betting this one could be pretty good ~ @Munkin A-Jay

OK, so it's been a few days since I contacted 3 vendors asking what the expiration date of the units they would sell me would be. It was over a a weekend but still - crickets . . . . . . I broke down & took a flyer by ordering a pair from Amazon. They are 'in the mail' so I guess we'll see. More to follow. I can't be the only snapperhead that needs to re-charge a PFD. A-Jay

With so little snow this winter, (just about half the average) the lake level seems a little low. And even though local Lake Menderchuck is still locked up, there's water on the ice at the north end !!!!!! I may be fishing in MARCH; which would be a first for me. Either way, looks like this might all happen a bit earlier than I expected so I need to get my poop in a group ASAP ! #veryexciting A-Jay

Thanks - No plugs for this guy. The 'road salt action' up this way is pretty rugged. Might not compete with the being right on the beach (done that too) but it's pretty close. And it's full blown use runs a full 6 months most years. If I learned anything working on the Atlantic for 3 decades, it's that there's no stopping H2O, so it's much better to just let it flow. And then deal with whatever happens after that best I can. Finally, all of that is what drives the trade in every three years. Sort of a PIA at times, but I'm willing to go this route rather than deal with the fallout of the corrosion. A-Jay

As mentioned here several times and I do believe this to be the best practice, I am always willing to maintain & take very good care of my gear so that it will in return, take good care of me. That said, I like purchasing & use quality gear, of all kinds & types, but with the full intent on using it as it was designed. And in this case, I have no problem fishing it hard, doesn't mean I abuse it. @Randy Price If looking at some nice gear in the corner rather than fishing it makes you feel good, Go for it. A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I chased line sides up & down the east coast for a long time myself And Montauk was always one of the better big fish deals. . . ? A-jay

My last 3 or 4 trucks have all been Sierra Denali Pick ups; almost identical in fact. All had the 6.2L V8 motor, and were loaded with just about every option I could get including the after market cat back dual exhaust. I kept getting them because I REALLY liked them. I don't put a ton of miles on my vehicles but when I ride, I want to enjoy it. Those Denali's ride great, are super comfortable, and are very capable of handling the somewhat challenging (four season) terrain that these northern Michigan roads can offer. Lastly the past two Sierra's towed my rig like a champ ! So what's not to like - The Chrome . . . Denali's have quite a bit and it corrodes like crazy after one winter. Nothing I could do about it. Seems like a little thing but the shiny shiny thing is not my style, I just wanted a great truck that did what I needed. Enter the new AT4 - So far this truck is Everything I had before and So Much More ! First off - almost zero chrome - so let's get that out of the way right off the bat - The interior is less 'shiny' and more like a Truck, than a Caddy, - Love that. In every other way it is as good or better than the Denali's IMO. There's a 2 inch lift on this one, so the ground clearance & visibility is a bit better. And then there's the Motor - 462 hp with the Cold Air induction and the upgraded performance exhaust. This thing just wants to go ! Haven't towed with it yet, but it's coming. Expect that to be very good as well. So Yea, if you couldn't tell already, I'm pretty happy with this choice. Thanks for asking. If you're on the fence about this one I say just drive one - that will finish you right off . . . That's my story and I'm sticking to it. A-Jay

Thanks ~ I have an older model G9. Had a Garage Queen LS2 GTO that I buffed out almost as much as I drove. Loved it though. Sold it in 2016 to help fund the Lund. I miss it - on & off. Sure was fun to drive - loved the short throw stick. A-Jay
