  1. Nice Bass @roadwarrior Congrats A-Jay
  2. As a general rule ~ When wave height increases and wave length decreases, depending on the vessel, navigation becomes very challenging. Shallow water complicates it. If & when conditions exceed the limitations of the craft & or the operator the pucker factor increases exponentially. Personally, I prefer to avoid this whole deal but if & when faced with it, I go slow. A-Jay
  3. While out on the local waters before & after daylight, in 10 years plus, I've never seen another rig, ever. I do everything slower at night and I assume nothing. Had my share of 'scares' but they have been mostly harmless deals that involved local wildlife; beavers, owls, muskrats, and large wading birds. Much of my own more serious night ops 'stories' are all work related. Without going into too much detail, on at least two occasions (one off Boston Harbor and the other off Portsmouth, VA I think), we prosecuted night time cases where a large cabin cruiser attempted to pass BETWEEN a large ocean going tug boat and the line of barges it was towing. These tow cables are often very long setting the barges quite a ways back behind the tug. On radar it can actually look like two separate surface contacts. However, the massive tow cable between the two says otherwise. Both pleasure boats were traveling at speed on plane. That did not help either, not that anything would in this case. Lost count of the number of commercial & recreational vessels that collide while on plane at night with stationary hard targets. This list includes but may not be limited to, Docks, Moored Vessels, Rock Jetties, as well as an assortment of US Coast Guard Aids to Navigation (buoys and day beacons, both lighted & unlighted). Rarely is that a good time for anyone or anything on either end of these deals. Becoming disoriented in any low visibility scenario is the single most common detrimental contributing factor in each of the above. Complacency comes in at a close second IMO. No one is immune as Commercial, Professional & recreational captains alike have all fallen victim to this. Committed Attentiveness is The Only Defense. Otherwise it's only a matter of time. Stay Safe A-Jay

  6. This thing works in EVERYTHING ~ no kidding. And the newest models (this one is a few years old) are better, easier to control. I have to man handle this one a bit but that sort of suits my style; for now anyway. At some point I may 'upgrade' as I expect to have no problem re-homing this one. If you're in the market - and these run a bit more than the 'box store units' but there's very little to NO PLASTIC on this build, this may be the last one you'll buy. A-Jay
  7. Ya it is ~ That unit makes what used to be a particularly arduous deal Into a few minutes of fun A-Jay
  8. Winter Storm Warning (which is the only time any snow here actually gets our attention) remains in effect and will run into tonight anyway ~ With more snow in the forecast everyday through Friday and air temps well below the Mendoza Line, might be a while before I make any attempt to clear out the foot or so we have out there now. Reestablishing the 'paths' back & forth from the house to the to the dog kennel and the back forty, have to happen every other day or so at least. Good Times A-Jay
  9. Coming down hard right now ~ A-Jay
  10. Exactly ~ 2009 & 2012 2015~ 2018 ~ 2021 ~ A-Jay
  11. Hello Jeff ~ Thank you for our service. Welcome back to Bass Resources ~ A-Jay
  12. No my house phone(s) They are a cordless relic from Panasonic that still has OPER for operator on the '0' key. Not much happening there any more. Go ahead and try it. I'll wait. A-Jay
  13. Agreed ~ I was being a funny guy. Spent many a night on lakes and in the surf ~ Few things got my attention as much as when standing in chest deep surf on the blackest of moonless nights off of Montauk, NY and a seal popped up right in my face. Or even worse, something bumped into my leg ! Usually retreated to the ankle deep stuff - for a little while at least. A-Jay
  14. And you'll not hear me complaining about that at all @Catt Besides, we all know how scary fishing at night is - ? A-Jay

  16. I'd say there is very little if anything, about the way I fish that just about any & every Basshead is not doing or has done at one time or another. Perhaps one aspect of my deal that may be 'different', is that I am willing to be on the water in places and at times when other anglers are not. Many of my best trips occurred when I was the only one out there. So just being there may be at least half the battle. A-Jay
  17. You could weigh a tackle bag without the little bass and them throw him and weigh it again. Then it's just a matter of subtraction. Or perhaps you could save 6 or 7 of them little guys and weight them all at once in bucket. Then go for the average. ? A-Jay
  18. Snow & Wind ~ Then starting next week some seasonal Coldness. Be advised ~ We'll be hunkered down until further notice A-Jay
  19. Congrats ~ ! Bet that felt pretty good. A-Jay
  20. Thank you Sir ~ Sometimes these things just feel like old friends. But the 6 months of serious road salt here is sufficient to have me re-homing them every three years. Regardless of how well I keep the Top coat (which always looks great at trade in) sneak a peak at the undercarriage after 36 months and it's a little scary. btw - I do that coating myself - did the boat as well last fall before I put it up. And you're right it's next level. Good Luck with your rig. A-Jay
  21. Truck on the road ~ Boat on the lake A-Jay
  22. Cat back and performance package were installed at the dealership before I took delivery. 2 inch lift and off road suspension happened during the build at the factory. The cold air inductuon deal is very cool, get it.... And the air filter can is HUGE. #popawheelie A-Jay
  23. Hello Scott and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  24. Spent a good part of today acquainting myself with this new rig. There's a bit more/new in this one vs the 2018 truck I traded in. Mostly on the technology side ~ trailering innovations, cameras, smartphone integrations & driver-centric alerts. All the while I did enjoy the heck out of the Bose system. (always do) Planning a shake down cruise deal for later this week that will include snow blazing a trail down a few two tracks; just check out a few of the Lake Menderchuck access points don't cha know. A-Jay
  25. Zero is cold but it's better than the -20 or -30 that's pretty common here in Feb. And wind makes it brutal. You know what it's like. A-Jay
