  2. Nice Bass Nelson ~! Congrats on the new Personal Best A-Jay
  3. @WRB Surely this entire forum has been hoping you'd be able to get to wet a line again soon Tom. Good for you. There was so much I wanted to say on your previous threads but the words felt meaningless. Please go again. A-Jay
  4. Hello and welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  5. Let me know when the time is right for you or you need more info. I know a guy . . . btw - nothing lasts forever. Any fishery can change. It's pretty good right now though. A-Jay
  6. I prefer #2 EWG on the front & a #4 EWG on the back of 1/2 oz RES. Unless the bass are seriously plus size then I'll go #2 on the back also. I do the same on a 1.5 squarebill. As for the Red Hook thing. I do it ALL The Time ! Don't think it's magic but I've caught more than a few decent ones doing it. A-Jay
  7. Preach on my Brother. I've been a stanch proponent of the red treble For Years ! Nicely Done Sir. A-Jay
  8. Most quality built casting reels are designed to deal with and or shed reel spool water in a manner that prevents it from being detrimental at all. So that might not be that big of a concern. If & when line size / type are designed for a reel, meaning not excessive in any way, line management issues can routinely be traces back to the end user. Perhaps consider taking a harder look at your reel 'set up' and application. Might be able to, at the very least, improve your line management deal. As for the OCD thing - in my world that's described as maximum attention to detail A-Jay
  9. Is it safe ? Though to say. In the short term and especially the long term, purchasing a rig equipped with a motor on it built by a company that is still producing them (and parts), seems 'safer' and considerably less risky to me. The reasons that rigs with these motor are 'for sale', may be the very same reason not to purchase them. Good luck with your decision. A-Jay
  10. NICE Smallmouth ~ Don't know how I missed this one - Congrats on the bass & surviving that 'net catastrophe !" A-Jay
  11. As noted here already, keeping the main line & leader diameter size relatively close is a general rule. However once we get to the lower tests in braid, like 10 lb for example, the braid starts getting super thin; especially these days. I fish braid mainlines with leaders on all my spinning gear and have been for a several years. And while I use mono leader a good bit of the time with some FC mixed in, the premise for me is still the same. I Start by matching the MAINLINE to the gear I'm fishing - as it relates to line management & casting distance, which is always a factor for me. Then I will select a leader size & material to fit the conditions I am fishing the gear in. I fish in clear water myself (for brown bass) and will often go with 10 lb braid with 8-10 lb mono or FC leader. That works for me. I will also use 15-20 lb braid with a 10-12 lb leader depending on the diameter of both lines, still wanting them to be fairly close. I talk about it here . . A-Jay
  12. Thank you, We did ~ we always do. And I have some myself A-Jay
  13. I should have bailed on areas where & when the bait left or never showed up in the first place. Really crashed & burned on that one. I should have giving up trying to fish in ridiculously windy conditions much earlier. Beat myself half to death trying. Finally, wish I had spent more quality time with this little lady while I had it. Hopefully I've learned. A-Jay
  14. It's coming . . . . Vaccines have been successful in helping to eliminate diseases formerly prevalent in the United States. Viruses prevented by vaccines include polio, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, smallpox, measles, mumps, rubella, and rotavirus. Examples of bacterial infections prevented by vaccines include tetanus and pneumococcal disease A-Jay
  15. Have a boat full. Just hasn't been the deal for me lately. Replaced by a small swimbait. Dark Sleeper, better at looking like a goby I think. Plan on fishing them more in 2021, which means I will most likely be in a little deeper water. Probably a good thing. A-Jay
  16. I know right ~ I always get it together in the end but it's a routinely quite a process. Part of the Fun. A-Jay
  17. Northern MI - Throwing for Brown Bass ~ Spring: Jerk bait Hair Jig/Ned Rig Vibrating Jig Crankbait/Lippless bait Paddletail swimbait on a jighead Summer: Drop Shot Spybait Walking Bait Football Jig/craw Jerkbait Fall: Spinner bait or Vibrating jig A-Rig Rage Bug on a Swing Head Squarebill/Flat side crank bait Paddletail swimbait on a jighead Sometimes the decision process can get a little hectic though ~ A-Jay
  18. Megastrike and MaxScent is all I need. A-Jay
  19. Spinnerbaits excel for me in, around, over & through soft cover; weeds man ~ weeds ! Usually pretty shallow too, less than 8 to 10 ft depending on water clarity. Also don't be afraid to burn & kill that thing - the speed & sudden stop and then speed again can be a real trigger for the Old Toothy Faced Beast. A-Jay
  20. @Russ E - This Exactly for me as well. And 95% of it happens with the 1/2 oz bait. A-Jay
  21. Hey Person !! I addition to the the fine suggestions already made in this one, here's my submission specifically for pike: In early season cooler water a hair jig with a Max Scent Flatnose Minnow - just reel it along slow, a jighead and paddletail swimbait, and Jerkbait of course. In warmer waters, a spinnerbait, an in-line spinners, a rattlebait, a vibrating jig, and almost anything I can work through the cover they hang in effectively. A-Jay
  22. I can not say that ~ Nice Bass btw and Sweet Hat ! A-Jay
  23. Hello Robert and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
