  1. Thank You Sir. Yea the MI DNR stepped up their 'ramp access' game at this place this year and I appreciate it. The previous 12 years here, canoe launch & recovery operations included an ankle deep, mud bath for the 'guide'. Did keep the bugs off my feet for a while though. A-Jay
  2. Not certain heavily preserved meat product & fishing line are even comparable. Either way after 50 plus years experience - I'm the other 10 %. A-Jay
  3. Neglected trailer wheel bearings have ruined a fair share of long boat trailer hauls. Unfortunately, unless we're monitoring them, there's little to no 'warning' that they need attention, until it's too late. And it's usually bad. Not a 'repair' easily done roadside. So there's that. Looking forward to 'the story', because there's always one. Good Luck and Safe Travels A-Jay
  4. As with anything, it's buyer beware. However at this point, having purchased from the manufacture as well as other vendors, when comparing the packaging and more importantly 'the Seal', anything different, tampered with or even missing may be a #deadgiveaway YMMV A-Jay
  5. No, I do not. And I definitely didn't start out rigging it that way. Now it's perhaps a 50/50 type deal for me as to whether I rig horizontal or vertical. All said & done, IMO, if a bass is going to eat a properly presented swim jig with a Rage Menace trailer I don't think which way it's rigged will be the determining factor. But how I feel confidence wise, might make me fish it with a little more conviction, which almost always results in a more positive result. Either way, I got the idea here from another BR member. Sadly I don't remember who to give the credit too (CRS). But I certainly appreciate it. A-Jay
  6. It's happened. Back when Seaguar stopped using 'level wind technology' it was tough to tell what was what. I actually returned a couple of bulk spools of FC and repurchased them directly from Seaguar thinking I would get the real deal. I was bummed when they were delivered and they looked exactly like the spools I returned. Took a fat $$$ hit on that one. Seguar has since put out a PR that straighten it out. Either way, there's little risk IMO, as the Amazon return procedure is seem less & simple. I've utilized it a few times for various items. A-Jay

  9. There's a ton of info on this site on how & where to fish a swimjig. In my world, (northern MI) swimjigs are routinely most effective close to cover. Over it, beside it, around it, or in some way as close to it as I can get; just not In It. The waters here are mostly clear and natural colors & patterns have proven themselves as the best producers for me. I am usually presenting these baits in the upper portion of the water column or in shallow(er) water, so 1/4 oz, 5/16 oz and 3/8 oz are the head weights I use most often. Trailer options are virtually endless and almost anything you want to hang on the back will get bites; as long as the bait runs straight & true. (especially on the fall). Trailer choice, however can & often does determine how fast or slow the bait needs to be retrieved in order to track at a certain depth. This can be a big deal some days. Here's a few that I routinely remove from bass faces. They are a mixture of 6th Sense, Bass Dozer and I think there's one Strike King mixed in there. I do up most of my own skirts and my preferred color pallet is usually perchy & bluegill/pumpkinseed-ish. A-Jay
  10. I do buy bulk spools. FC & Braid. Already have a career supply of mono for leaders & backing. Day in & day out - Amazon has the best prices and that's often regardless of Anyone's 'sale price'. Availability of certain popular brand's & test can be a concern at times. But check these prices compared to TW - Sort of ridiculous. 12. When the term 'drowning victim' is part of one's job description, you see things. Bad things. Sadly, and I do mean sadly, I recovered several drowning victims. From ages 5 to 85. That often meant first searching for hours and even days, in any & all weather conditions, day & night. Then if /when located, recovering the victim from where ever they lay and placing the lifeless human body, in various stages of decomposition, into a big black body bag. Horrid. Never were these unfortunate souls wearing a life jacket, ever. Expiring from exposure is different than drowning and it too is deadly. A Life jacket does not prevent that. But having one on if & when we go in the drink, will increase our chances of survival considerably. Please wear one, especially when you're alone. A-Jay
  13. LOL ~ That's really Funny Jeremy Lynn started that ~ At this point, it just happens. A-Jay
  14. My wife & I spent another nice day in the Old Town Canoe on Lake Menderchuck south. Sun was in & out and a warm breeze was up & down. We didn’t really get anything going until some pre-frontal clouds moved in around noon I guess. We landed a dozen or so green bass. Most of them were in the ‘keeper’ category but a few might have been thinking about sneaking up to the 2 pound mark. However the stars of the day, were the pike. While not really the target species, there was no denying them. So we just rolled with it. Once we figured out which outside weedlines they were on, the action was pretty fast & furious; even included a bit of acrobatics. Smiles were a plenty. Lynn was so inspired, she decided to ‘Hand Hold’ a Pike for the very First Time. Filled with motivation (and a little coaching) she was grinning for the photo op. Pretty cool. Lynn did all her damage with her usual Texas rigged skirted soft plastic. Switching between a Rage Craw & a Rage Bug; both Green Pumpkin. I caught every fish today on a 3/8 oz Megabass spinnerbait (not Megastrike like I mentioned in the video) with a small paddle tail swimbait trailer and a cut tail worm. We did not beat the rain home . . . . . A-Jay
  15. Some High Flying Pike action today ~ #pikerobatics A-Jay
  16. I have & use 100, 150, 200 & 300 sized reels. Preference wise, the low profile 150's and the round 200's seem the right mix of size & line capacity for me. I'm not the hugest midget around and super "Big" reels don't suit me. The 300's only speak Spanish . . . A-Jay
  17. Congrats to all you Crazy Kids ~ ! A-Jay
  18. I lost all my spinning baits in a freak pickled yo-yo accident. Now that's crazy. A-Jay

  20. Never a doubt as to your actions @Bluebasser86 However, I would most definitely had something to say to the "man" who owed/operated that other rig. None of it can be repeated here. Unfathomable level of selfish. A-Jay
  21. If you're an on line shopper - here's a few some options ~ btw- I prefer the long bill. https://jenkofishing.com/products/tn-river-tackles-tremor-head-with-medium-bill?variant=32279304332 https://www.thehookuptackle.com/fishing-Jig+Heads/Tennessee+River/Tremor+Head https://www.another site.com/Jenko-Fishing/Tennessee-River-Tackle-Tremor-Head https://www.tacklefreaks.com/products/tennessee-river-tremor-jig-head-2pk A-Jay
  22. I've seen plenty of foot prints & scat, especially when I was fishing exclusively from the canoe and launching from some seriously out of the way & make shift 'ramps'. However, I'm happy to report only one actual bear sighting. It was at first light and I was in my truck at the time. #goodtiming Occurred at the ramp of one of my favorite 'night fishing' spots. Haven't been back at night since. Either way, the local bird feeders often attract some attention though. (Pic) A-Jay
