  1. OK. Certainly no need to apologize to me. I have no problem admitting that when it comes to Jacking Stuff up - I'm at the Master Level. Hope it works out for you. A-Jay Use that MH Glass rod for your vibrating Jigs - Go with 17-20 FC. You'll be Golden. A-Jay
  2. Very little in bass fishing is set in stone but some are close. This is one of them. It often goes like this . . . One day there's some wind and you're hammering bass on whatever (insert the moving bait of your choice). You leave them biting and can't wait to get back the next day. Next day comes - no wind - you fish the same baits in the same manner in the same places - No Fish. Works in reverse too. Days starts out flat calm, no windy. No fish all morning - None. Later on wind blows - same area lights up. Bass every cast. Big smiles & loud laughing for everyone. It's a common scenario and if it's not one you've experienced, keep fishing. You will. A-Jay
  3. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but TW does not list a 7'1" MH/R rod ? They list a 7' ML/R and a 7' M/R But no MH/R. here's a link to the entire line https://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/rods/tatulabass/index.html I do not have any of these sticks so I can't helps as to what they may fish like. Perhaps, Fish it and see what you think ? But remember the bait monkey will be watching your every move . . . . A-Jay
  4. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I do not have experience with that net. However Tackle Tour rated it as "Good". http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpromarpromesh.html A-Jay

Hello Josh and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  7. Yup, freezing rain now changing to lake effect later today here. And it's Chemo day for Lynn. Double whammy. A-Jay
  8. It is almost always cheaper on Amazon. And sometimes it's crazy cheap. A-Jay
  9. I have not encountered a problem with bass jumping & throwing blade baits but I would imagine the cool to cold water I'm usually fishing them in plays a role in that. Some guys go single hooks on blade bits perhaps that's an option;I do not. Also I've not heard of the double split ring deal either. Initially I would think that one ring may keep the bait in the fishes mouth and two may have it hanging out if it's face which would seem to make it easier to throw ? ? Perhaps plus size your trebles on the lippless instead or go to EWG's if you haven't already. They've certainly won me over. A-Jay
  10. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I'm not new to casting gear and Long before the DC reel came out I've been able to catch a few fish here and there. Last year, I broke down and purchased one (SHIMANO 17 Scorpion DC 100 HG) just to check it out for myself. Nice reel - and I'll admit, I'm not expert on DC reels - but I can cast standard revolving spool reels quite well and have been doing so for 1/2 a century. They've changed a lot during that time - all for the better. I can not say for sure what works for you - but IMO - not necessary at all. #hype I may even re-home the one I have. Perhaps purchase a quality non DC reel, fish it and see what you think. Good Luck A-Jay
  11. Been dealing with a very similar deal which started at about the same time in my life. (28 yrs old) I injured my back badly in the gym. I had a very active life style & profession and I was down hard for 2 months. Slowly the bulging disc retracted and most of the pain was relieved. Since then 32 years later, I have re-injured it a few times which always requires that I give it time to heal again. How much time & for how long depends on the severity of the injury. Along the way I made being in shape and keeping my back & core healthy a priority. So I've been able to remained active BUT know & Obey my own limitations. Keeping my back & more importantly my entire core strong & flexible has allowed me to continue to do most of the things I like to do - with very few re-occurrences of the back injury. I'd say your age will work for you if you let it. No doubt that it's a painful deal, but if you're not getting pain or numbness in either leg, you might be OK in time. Good Luck A-Jay
  12. Bassheads will do what works for them. Some of this has to include the type of gear (rod & especially type of line;FC or braid). I prefer a mod/fast rod for jigs and my hookset technique never includes slack line. I'll set up on a fish as soon as I can but I'll usually 'adjust' the horsepower depending on the line. FC usually gets a fairly serious full stroke deal but when using braid I'll 'tone' that down a bit. Exception to that is if fishing in heavy vegetation - where I will use a very hard hooket with braid and attempt to use that momentum to get and keep the fish heading / moving my way; meaning up & out of the slop. Hope that helps A-Jay
  13. The Giant Dog X is a 1/2 oz bait and most all the walkers I fish are at least 5/8 most 3/4 oz. For casting gear and that bait, a M/F stick should be fine - can't recommend a cranking rod though - a little to 'slow' for working the bait IMO. I fish my walking baits on M/F spinning gear. Long casts are important here and this rig gets it done. Here's what that looks like . . . A-Jay
