Working to Stay Lean ~
"You don't set out to build a wall. You don't say 'I'm going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that's ever been built.' You don't start there. You say, 'I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid. You do that every single day. And soon you have a wall." A-Jay

Missing the warmer fishing months...
I'm in northern Michigan. May not see open water again until mid- April or even early May. In the mean time, I'll service my reels, clean and organize my rig & my tackle. Additionally, over the long winter, I aim to keep both me & my dogs, in shape. A-Jay

Casting Silent Vision 110
Over the years, I have had some success with the silent jerkbaits of various makes & model, which most recently does include the Megabass bait. The one time or situation where I usually reach for the silent bait first, is when bass are fairly shallow, conditions are calm/flat and the water is super clear. Growing up casting for brown bass, the Rapala minnow was The Deal is that stuff. Fished mostly like a twitch topwater bait, that's how I'll throw other silent baits now as well. They do catch for me fished like a traditional suspending Jerk bait too, but as previously mentioned, casting distance suffers quite a bit. My first 6lb Smallie in MI, ate a silent perch pattern 110 in 5 feet of clear water over a dark bottom. Never saw her until the strike. A-Jay

Replacing Trebles On Popmax & W Plopper
Honestly, I haven't caught enough bass on the WP to come up with what I like yet. But I fish the Pop Max a ton - and Yes I change them. For the belly hook (only) I love the Owner St-35. Pop Max gets a #2 - it places the hook points 'beyond / past' the belly of the bait. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Short_Shank_Treble_Hook_ST-35/descpage-OSSF.html The Pop Max Tail hook for me is a KVD EWG 1x strong 2x short and I go up one size. For the dressed treble - I just tie up my own - pretty easy. I am that guy ~ and this is why. And occasionally - one of these tows me around for a while. A-Jay

Casting Silent Vision 110
They cast about the same as an old school Rapala minnow. While not balsa, still like casting a potato chip. A-Jay

Glass Rod for Frogs?
I think of frog fishing like fishing a jig in heavy cover, except it's done on top in stead of on the bottom. I can not see any frog fishing scenario where my glass crank bait rod would be an advantage in either situation. There's like 22 bajillion 'frog rods' on the market, some are pool cues, some are not. I'd recommend checking a few different makes & models - got to be one with an action you'd like. I like the LTB74HF from the St Croix line quite a bit. A-Jay
