  5. Gear that fits correctly is certainly a major concern. I will often wear the non-insulated bibs & jacket (HUK) right over whatever I'm planning to fish in. However when I need the insulated gear (Cabelas Guidewear Bibbs & Full Length Jacket) I always have a quality insulated breathable moisture wicking mid & base layer under it. Top layer is usually fleece pants & top. All very comfy but unless I plan on stopping at Wal-Mart, not something I'm going to drive home in without the bibs on at least. A-Jay
  6. I have, use & need both insulated & Non. Neither one works for me when I need the other. Lose the return shipping label ~ Done. A-Jay

  9. I will say that access to big bass IMO is often one of my biggest challenges. Early season ( to spawn as stated here many times) bigger fish venture shallower making then more accessible to more anglers. Again in the 'fall', the larger specimens often return to 'shallower' water and might even stay a little longer again making them more accessible to more anglers. Perhaps this may account for some of the results listed in this thread. In my own fishing, it's hard to deny the results - the biggest brown bass that end up in my net each season routinely come early & again later in the year. A-Jay
  10. Thanks ~ Could't have done it without the glasses ~ ? A-Jay
  11. Fished them quite a bit ~ Not enough positives for me to continue using them. Owner & Gamakatsu do all the heavy lifting for me. A-Jay

  13. Thank You Sir - Unfortunately this deal includes the term incurable. So we're riding it out. A-Jay
  14. Perhaps consider learn to fish a jig or Texas rigged plastic. Solid producer. A-Jay
  15. Blue mirror in the brightest of conditions and grey in every thing else. A-Jay
  16. Thank you J. I am merely a spectator in the cheap seats. Lynn does all the heavy lifting ... every 24 days. I will say that sharing the space with several of the strongest and bravest Spirits I've ever encountered, is both an honor and a privledge. Patients and Staff. A-Jay
  17. I can only speak for the fishing situations I've encountered. That said, my jerkbait success seems to always be better when the water is fairly clean with at least 3 ft plus of visibility. Less than that, I fish something else; usually close to the bottom or available cover. A-Jay
  18. I like the Strike King KVD 300 & 300 Deep. btw - Throwing jerkbaits in muddy water can be tough sledding. A-Jay
  19. Thank you my friend ~ As always - Big Fish Jeff & I are always on a mission for the bigger bass. So we fish areas, tackle & baits that support that. Fishing 'shallower' here can yield an almost endless number of 2-4lb bass. We are often found fishing off deeper points that bottom out in 20-40 ft. Here we are throwing 3/4 & 1 oz jigs with a 7 inch senko trailer - I know it sounds weird but they choke them (Black & Blue and Watermelon Red work well) Stroking a large rattle bait off the bottom & up the drop is good too. My favorite bite came fishing suspended bass on deep flats where the bottom may be 40 feet but the bass are chasing bait in the top 20 ft. 5, 6 & 7 inch swim baits as well as 3/4 oz underspins are very good here. My gear is all 6'9", 7' and 7' 4" Heavy Travel rods (G Loomis & Fenwick) and 200 & 300 (Shimano & Quantum) size reels - The Tranx 300 HG and the Callcutta 300D both did the majority of my heavy lifting. 20-25 lb Tatsu & Invisx FC were the line of choice. I use one 6'9" MH rod for lighter flukes, and smaller baits. As for our Guide, all the guides at the lodge are very good and know that lake well. We are fortunate in that we have able to use Manual every trip (since 2013). He seems to 'get us' and the way we like to fish. (plus we tip him very well so that may play a role too). The big fish numbers on this trip IMO are 'average' and what I'd expect to see every time I go. Although they do pale in comparison to the last visit, which was not one I'd ever expect to duplicate, but we'll keep going and see what happens. Hope that helps. A-Jay (The video is solid and still in the editing phase - few more days. Taking my wife for Chemo this morning so editing takes a major back seat right there)
  20. Yup~ A-Jay
  21. While we did have several sessions where we were doing the every cast deal - tons of 3-6 lb bass, the DD didn't happen this trip - Still plenty of scoreable bass to keep us happy. And you know who's not complaining ? A-Jay
  22. Looking Great Blue ! Really A-Jay
  23. It's going to be a few more days before I can get to do the editing of the video we shot. Weather here is about to get very 'seasonal' so I'm going when I can. Have to get to this later. But here's a teaser - totals for the 6 1/2 days of fishing. A couple of days of rain slowed the big fish bite down quite a bit. Still quite an awesome time . . .
