  1. I guess - maybe it just caught me off guard. I'm over it. Either way, it's not my style. A-Jay

  3. I hear ya - Used it in multiple marine clean up efforts - works well. And I can even see how it could be very advantageous for what Mr Johnston is looking to do, but like J said, seems bush league. A-Jay
  4. If you're looking at a DC offering . . . Shimano 17 Scorpion DC https://japanlureshop.com/catalog/product/view/id/14402/s/shimano-17-scorpion-dc-100-right-handle/category/1174/ That's quite a bit of reel for a fair price IMO A-Jay
  5. In the big picture, my last big 2 stroke may have been less eco friendly than the soap blaster but I fixed that. A-Jay
  6. I had it on - was interested to see how it would play out . . . . Then about 5 minutes into it, Mr Johnston busted out the Blaster full of dish soap. And I was done. I'm not a huge fan of bed fishing as it is, especially when the catch is taken for a ride. Not looking to debate whether it's good or bad or proven or not, I'm just not a fan. And now we're spraying dish soap all over the lake. I'm sure it's biodegradable & super safe in every way, even still, that totally rubs me the wrong way. Had me shaking my head and making the 'Really ?' face . . . Perhaps it's an OG thing . . . . ? A-Jay
  7. And believe me - they are looking to ensure there is compliance. A-Jay
  8. My world is finally doing more melting than freezing now. Each day it’s getting a little warmer and lasting a little longer. Bodes well for open water sooner rather than later. In the meantime, I’m doing what I can to be ready. Did a solid ‘pull’ workout today and it felt pretty darn good. A-Jay
  9. You guys are always winning stuff ~ Congrats A-Jay

Great Bass ~ Nicely Done PB's are Always a Blast Congrats A-Jay
  12. In most situations, the only 'distance' I'm concerned with, is the one between my target and where my presentation actually lands. The shorter the better. btw - Two days into it and you're already going for the record - Nicely done. A-Jay
  13. SUPER SWEET RIG ~ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you Jeff. Great things are going to happen to you now . . . A-Jay

  19. A-Jay's random Thought of the Day ~ Someday I want to meet the academic decathlon dropout who decided we should all board airplanes from front to back. Just to say "Thanks" ? A-Jay
  20. Now THAT is great to hear. Good for you Sir ! PSA ~ Remember, don't drown the trailer when you re-load your rig. Sink it totally to wet your bunks initially, and then pull it out to where you have an inch or so of your fenders out of the drink. Start there and adjust as needed. Starting off - Too shallow a trailer is better than too deep - which can complicate a meant to be easy evolution. Good Luck my friend. A-Jay
  21. You're welcome. What I was hoping to pass on, was a 'mindset'. One that indicates that even though there are several awesome, advanced & effective tools for us as bass fisherman, there are also a bunch of lessons that will assist us in advance of & in order to use these tools effectively. My 'system' for picking apart an area to fish when I get to a new lake is based on the entire post I made to you here previously. And while so many of the experienced & generous BR membership can & will tell you what they do - I am hesitant to do so. The subject matter is gigantic and getting into specifics may not be beneficial to you as a beginner. So keeping it very basic - My process to fish new water starts well before I get there. I'll take the following into account in advance, my map study of the water, the seasonal pattern, & the recent weather (past, present & extended forecast). Once I get there, I'm looking wind direction & speed, at the water clarity, temperature, and type of cover on near & around the 'spots' I marked on the map in advance to getting there. I'm looking at the bottom composition, how populated the shoreline is, the number of boats on the lake (actual bass fisherman, permanent residents & visitors); and remember I said 'basic'. IME these factors all play a role on how, where, & when I look for active bass. When I started out, I didn't understand how these factors affected what bass did or where they would be - still don't more than half the time; and I have not met or know of any successful/honest angler who says he or she does know 100% of the time. I'm a firm believer in 'finding my own fish'; meaning I like to do it my way. What works for me may not work for you. IMO, when the info noted above is applied in a way that you can understand, you'll have success. Finally, I posted a some info in the smallmouth forum that covers a lot of what I mentioned here but in more detail. While admittedly offered as a tool to help target Northern Michigan brown bass - there may be some info you could find useful. It's here . . A-Jay
  22. I'm a hot mess. Emphasis on the hot part. And the mess. Not gonna lie, I'm kinda crazy too. A-Jay
  23. I could use a few less of those myself A-Jay
  24. "5 big fat geese, - 4 Robins chirping, 3 baby rabbits, two porcupines, but we still have a ton of hard ice." Sung like the chorus in Partridge in a Pear tree. A-Jay
