  1. I don't always use mono but when I do it's almost always Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo Nylon Line. It's not the least expensive product out there and that's exactly how it fishes. And did you know that 4 out of 5 snappaheads that use it, recommend it. It's true I tell ya A-Jay
  2. Sounds like you have a solid plan in place where you are able to use, keep, & save many of your plastic baits. I'm a bit different in that my priority is to catch big bass with my plastics. In fact, I want to catch as many as I can. However I do understand and accept the fact that in the process of catching all these big bass, I will inevitably go through a ton of baits. I say "Dam the torpedoes, Full Speed ahead !" btw - Congrats on your collection of used baits. A-Jay

Great Bass ~ Congrats. A-Jay btw - "Note to self, close the cleat, it tangles the net". I've actually done that one as well - lesson learned the hard way for me too.
  4. No doubt this is improving the sport for the viewer and I'm excited to see where it takes us. But I can't help but think this whole thing feels like The Civil War of Tournament Bass Fishing ~ A-Jay

  8. So when it's all set up and being Broadcast via cable and live on line, who's going to watch what ? That's the end game here and what may invariably determine the life expectancy & I guess very existence of each format. I plan on checking it all out and then I'll go from there. A-Jay

  11. This ^^^^^ for me as well. Weights are the same too, I just add 3/16, 5/16, & 5/8 to the @ww2farmer list. A-Jay

Depending on the bait & or the presentation / technique, supersizing hooks in plastic can have a tendency to alter some of the baits 'action'. However, as long as one is still getting bit and is utilizing gear that can drive it home, may not matter. A-Jay

Hello Gary and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ We are many things, but acidic is not one of them. A-Jay
  14. I learned that there are three (previously uncharted) gorgeous piles of bowling ball size rocks about this size of my boat just south of one of my favorite pre-spawn jerkbait flats in a 8-10 FOT. They are 'charted' now though. WP 877. Thank you SI. A-Jay
  15. @punch The 2016 Optimax Two Stroke was running great. It had 125 hours on it, a full year left on the all inclusive factory warranty and looked brand new. While still having an almost a cult following, the big two strokes Mercs are No Longer made and are pretty much bullet proof. With the warranty expiring next year, and after finding out what Mercury wanted $$$ for a 3-5 year extended warranty, I started looking for another plan. Then came the release of the new V-8 ProXS 4 stroke. Mercury was offering this new motor in a 25 inch shaft option which is what I needed (not offered in the 2-stroke version) and the unit was by & large plug & play with my existing motor. Meaning I could use all my existing wiring, steering system, gauges & controls. Seemed right and the timing couldn't have been better. Called my dealer and we 'ran the numbers'. In the end, the funds I expended on this new motor (after the dealer trade in) were close to what I would have needed to spend on an 'extended warranty' for a three year old motor. Instead, I got a brand new V-8 4 stroke 200 hp unit that weighs the same as the two stroke AND with a full Five Year factory warranty. This was an easy decision. A-Jay

  17. Transom is 25 inches so the whatever power plant is hung on it will have to be the "L" or 25 inch shaft. Yes went with a 6 inch Sea Star manual jack plate - needed to get the motor away from the boat a bit for the SI transducer. Still working on the break-in so extended WOT isn't happening yet. I can tell you that with the 200 hp Optimax WOT I was just under 60 mph. This rig is doing that a little past 3/4 WOT - so it looks like I'll get a couple more mph when it all said & done. Bet there's a market for your 150 - figuring the hours and if it's still got some warranty left. Good Luck A-Jay
  18. @12poundbass Congrats to the Detroit Lions and all their fans ! And they are True Fans. New England fans have been so fortunate to see just a ridiculous run of wins & Championships. Can't go on forever and almost 20 years may be well past forever in Football years. I've been a life long Pats fan since the Boston Patriots days well before Robert Kraft bought the team. Those were some long and lean years as far as wins go. This years team reminds me of those days. A-Jay
  19. Hello Andy and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ At 12 years, 4 months and 13 days, you just may have the BR record for the longest time between signing up and making an introduction. Congrats A-Jay
  20. Your commitment is admirable and you guys are both winners regardless of your 'place'. Still nice to be holding trophies though Congrats to you both A-Jay
  21. Maybe call your channel something like . . Windy City Adventures or Mud City Fishing or Chi-Town Angling As for 'content', when compared to your bass angling knowledge level in 10, 20 or even 30 years from now, as high school age angler your fishing experience is really in it's infancy stage. So you may run out of experience based tips & advice to offer pretty quickly. Instead, my advice is to just go fishing & video it. You could talk about what you plan on doing in advance and why, where you're going (Totally optional), what you're doing while you're fishing and then perhaps a brief recap of the days events and how it went. Adding in what worked & maybe didn't might be useful, as well as what you learned and what you may do differently next time. You may strike a cord with anglers in a similar position & age or even some in your area of the country doing the same thing. Good Luck A-Jay
  22. Well the lake I was on yesterday (different from the place that recently stocked musky) is big and has most every species we have up here in it. Been on a solid big fish smallie bite shallow for a few weeks then something changed - very few bass. Yesterday, while bass fishing again, got a dozen or so (mostly fun size) but I was also into a load of pike up to about 34 inches and I dropped what would have easily been a PB Musky boat side, although I'll admit it's a little tricky measuring them before I land them . . . So it seemed that the bigger smb bailed when the teeth showed up but the smaller fish stayed. Btw - that ski could have downed a anything I caught this day quite easily. A-Jay
  23. Enough of these (fun size) around today to keep me on the water most all day. Just couldn't find any plus size models. A-Jay
