Quantum?
I fish a bunch of Quantum Rods & Reels and have been for a really long time. They are just terrible, I mean they could not possibly be any worse. Nuts & bolts falling off all over the place. Springs popping out left & right. Rod Guides melting in the sun. Backlashes Every Single Cast. Foam Grips Bursting into flames. It's a mess ! And yet, I still manage to catch a few. A-Jay

Cleaning aluminum boat with pressure/power washer?
I use it on everything except the carpet, the seats and my graphs. A-Jay Turtle wax - Dash & Glass is a good Product for that. A-Jay

Darn party boaters....
Solid Advice Right Here ^^^^^^^^. I was a professional mariner for a long time. I've seen bad things. I fish from a 18 ft power boat most often now but did fish from a canoe for a long time. A career of on the water Search & Rescue / Law Enforcement has indicated that for me - I need to have a mind set Regardless of the rules, the laws or whatever mind set we each have, that EVERY BOATER is trying to run me down - every one. I make it my responsibility to do everything I can to prevent that. And I do. To sit and watch and hope that another boater will see you, avoid you, be courteous to you ???- is IMO un-wise. Like I said. I've seen what happens when this occurs - not good. (btw - it is my experience that an alarming number of boaters (especially on inland lakes, rivers & reservoirs) are mostly unfamiliar with boating safety, and navigational rules; especially in locals where 'the boating season' is 12 weeks long (summer basically). Stay Safe. A-Jay

Cleaning aluminum boat with pressure/power washer?
This is a white vinegar based product (and if you get it you'll not doubt recognize the smell) which removes water spots and with routine use reduces them significantly. It does this without removing any wax that may have been applied previously. Can't say for sure if that's the case but it sure seems that way. Two more points of interest. One - don't know exactly what your version of 'scum' is - but it does clean off mine. And Two - past few cleanings, I've been mixing the Hot Sauce 3 to 1 with Lucas Oil Slick Mist wax. (Hot Sauce being the 3 and Slick Mist being the 1). It smells like Bazooka Bubblegum (much better) and seems to Really improve all other aspects of this whole deal. A-Jay

Cleaning aluminum boat with pressure/power washer?
That black hull can be a water spot magnet ! To help you clean her up - I recommend using this routinely. Works nicely on my own black hull aluminum rig. A-Jay

Dialing in (BIG) Schooling Fish
Seriously Solid Bass. Nice write up I am also of fan of rigging a fluke like that. Perhaps check out the Gamakatsu G-Finesse Worm Light Hook w. Tin Keeper. Works well for open water (spinning) applications as well as drop shot with fluke, caffeine shad & Z-Too as an option to nose hooking. A-Jay

What Line do you use
Line selection for me is predicated on a number of variables. This includes but is not limited to casting distance desired, the presence of cover or the lack there of, and bottom composition (zebra mussels, rocks, trees, weeds, or swamp thing). That said, I'll go with this ~ Spinnerbait/Chatterbait: 12 - 15lb InvisX Fluoro Crankbait: 10 - 17 lb InvisX Fluoro Topwater: 10 lb Braid (spinning gear) 30 lb Braid Casting gear Sufix 832 Jerkbaits: 10 lb Braid (spinning gear) and 10 - 12 lb InvisX Fluoro (casting gear) T-Rig: 15lb InvisX Fluoro or 30 lb Braid Sufix 832 Shakey head: 10 - 12 lb InvisX Fluoro Drop Shot: 10 lb Braid / 8 lb AbrasX or Tatsu Fluoro leader C-Rig: Does Not Happen Jigs: 15 - 20lb AbrasX or InvisX Fluoro or 30 - 50 lb Braid Sufix 832 Flipping/Punching: don't do much but the little I do it's 40 - 65 lb Braid Sufix 832 Frog: 40 - 65 lb Braid Sufix 832 Swimbait - (over 2 oz) 20-25lb Mono or 50 lb Braid A-Rig: 20 lb Tatsu Fluoro Blade Bait: 10 lb Braid (spinning gear) or 12 lb InvisX Fluoro (casting gear) Spybait: 10 lb Braid (spinning gear) Sufix 832 Hair Jigs: 8 lb Braid (spinning gear) Sufix 832 A-Jay

Deciding on Alum Rig
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I purchased the Lund 1875 Pro-V Bass boat in 2016 when it first hit the market. Very please with every aspect of the vessel. Below are two reviews. I did the first one after few months and a second last month after two years. Good Luck with your decision. A-Jay

Tackle warehouse demo program.
I've used it. Not a pain. Really like it in fact. One thing to know in advance is that if you're trying top shelf reels, the first time you do it TW will place a charge for the $$$ value of the reels (on your card) and refund you immediately once they receive them back. It's been a couple of years since my last demo but that's the way it went last time I used it. A-Jay

Going Nocturnal
If you mean 'Dew' - It's the one aspect of night ops that I'm not a fan of Catt. With the way the nights cool off here (often as much as 20 degrees plus) the Wetness is a part of life. And EVERYTHING gets wet - including me. I dress for it,(otherwise my butts wet all night) I keep as little out as possible, and it's one of the main reasons I don't take pics/video at night - They Always came out looking like something done by Jacques Cousteau - Wet & Wild. (camera lenses are a mess) @Catt What do you do ? A-Jay

How large a part do electronics play in your fishing?
The role my electronics play increases as the size & or newness of the water I'm fishing increases. Smaller waters, not as much, but still they're on and I'm using them. I will say that if you've never been on 'your lake' with electronics, once you do and you learn to 'read & use it effectively', you may find that you do not know that body of water as well as you think you do; especially if you fish off shore / deeper than you can see to the bottom, structure. You'll be able to locate cover on structure, which can be quite a big deal. It may seem like a whole new lake - at first anyway. Good Luck with your choice. I say do it. You'll be glad you did. A-Jay

Post a photo a day!
We've had some very minor runs in with Mr Porcupine - although he & his friends have set up shop all around my property - they only 'visit' once or twice a month. Dogs got into one that was 'sleeping on the side of the road' during a run last year while I was in Mexico - sad day for everyone involved. A-Jay

Summer movement?
For me summer smallies are all about a 'bite window'. Of course it plays a role all season, but seems early & especially late season, 'the window' seems to stay open much longer; often all day long. Routinely in July for instance, Bite windows on the northern inland lakes are really small for me on smallies. About an hour long starting right at day light and then again either right at or just after sunset. This is all mid-week stuff as the weekends can be too busy & dead. Night ops can prove to be much better - usually are this time of year. Running & gunning works well for me other times of the year but with the windows so small, often less than 30 minutes, it's easy to miss them; meaning being in the wrong place at the right time. Either way, in an effort to be at the right place at the right time, I'll camp on places. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't, it's an all in type of deal. History on a lake really helps but in the end it's up to the fish to show & eat. I'm expecting (insert hoping) things pick up here mid-or perhaps 3rd week of August. In the meantime, we're just hanging . . . . That's my story and I'm stick'in to it. btw - I believe there's something to "letting a spot rest" - leaving and coming back later, perhaps even presenting baits in a different direction the next time, if possible.
