  1. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As for a "critique, insult, and advise" . . . Unless you needed to make 100 yards casts - a 10 foot rod seems overly long. Your mother wears Army Boots. And there's a ton of great info right here ~ https://www.bassresource.com/how-to-fish/ A-Jay
  2. I think those are both right next to 'Scuppernog'. While that color name may be questionable - the color itself is fairly product. A-Jay
  3. Hello Wees and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Intro. A-Jay
  4. As mentioned previously, when stored properly it should last long enough not to be a concern. A-Jay
  5. Agreed ~ I am forever selecting baits (both hard & soft) that 'Match & Blend In' with the color of the bottom and or the cover. All while fishing some very clear water. Why ? Well not that Bright Colors don't routinely produce in clear water, because we all know they most certainly do. Mostly because it's what 'I think' works more often and for bigger fish. So as is always referred to here, the confidence may be what gets the bites as much as the color. A-Jay

  8. Agreed !~ We used to sight fish them with eels and live pin fish off the outer bank in NC. They would stick out like a sore thumb in that blue water. I miss that action. A-Jay
  9. THAT ~ Is Cool. Don't you wish it would last all day ? A-Jay

  11. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I am a fan of that KVD short shank treble as well as up sizing. Often I'll use one size bigger on the front of a RES & a squarebill, replacing the back treble with the same size. (unless the fish seem to be plus size then I'll go up on both). Doesn't affect the action as far as I can tell but I do like the resulting hook up ratio, holding power & durability. YMMV A-Jay
  12. Perhaps ~ Quality is never an accident. It’s always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives. The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of a low price has faded from memory. A-Jay
  13. Brand New Aluminum Boat with Warranty Oh yea - and a New Truck with Warranty as well - in case you're in the market and about to ask. A-Jay
  14. Nice Cobia ~ a really fun fish to target, catch and eat. Although I do prefer them a little smaller than that tank for the table. Congrats. A-Jay
  15. Hello Richard and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Enjoy your learning process - It's at least half the fun. And it never stops. A-Jay
  16. ^^^^^ Exactly This ^^^^^ Tom, if you & I fished the same waters . . . I suspect we'd see a lot of each other. A-Jay

  18. Yes ~ by using a Weighted Swimbait Hook. Mustad, Owner & Gamakatsu all make quality products here. A-Jay
  19. Jerkbaits ~ There are enough makes & models to dial in the right running depth. A-Jay
  20. Fishing the conditions present when you get there is often beneficial. Without any other information it's tough to deal out advice. However, if conditions include 'low visibility' as you've described, I can often find a few by focusing on shallow water 'submerged targets'. Could be wood, rocks, humps, depressions, any hard(er) deal that the bass can sit on or at least relate to in that dirty water. Sort of like a home base. Docks work too, but in many instances they get beat up because they are easy to see & readily available. Using your electronics & mapping, looking for the water that has what you feel is the right depth & temp, in an area that's has signs of life (perhaps birds, bugs & even bait or panfish - although might be a little tricky in super dirty water) and then locating stuff the bass might sit on, could be the way to go. Frogs in & around any slop & super shallow might be something to consider as well. Good Luck A-Jay
  21. Thank you Sir ~ If it all goes according to plan, I'll be 59 next month. Think about getting back at it. You'll be all kinds of glad you did. A-Jay
  22. Documented the Physical Therapy this morning. The basic theme was "Pull"; the underlying motive is solid hook sets. #headedtoshredded Also I'd like to apologize in advance for the semi-Sappy sound track video overlay - we can all collectively thank the YouTube Copyright Police for that BS. Going forward I'll have to come up with a different plan. A-Jay
  23. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Help yourself out by doing a little research into fishing heavy cover for bass. Specifically the right type & size rod. The correct, reel, line & terminal tackle (weight & hook) can also make a world of difference on improving success. Plenty of useful info in the BR articles section. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing-techniques/ A-Jay
