Minn Kota Launches New Trolling Motors with Built-In MEGA Down Imaging
For the first time, anglers will have the option to select a Minn Kota Ulterra™, Terrova®, Ultrex™ or Fortrex® trolling motor with Built-In MEGA Down Imaging sonar. The Humminbird MEGA Down Imaging transducer will now be integrated into the trolling motor to provide a clean set up at the bow for anglers. Humminbird’s ultra-clear MEGA Imaging™ is the first Down Imaging technology to enter the megahertz range with performance that’s nearly three times greater than traditional 455 kHz frequencies. It results in the clearest, sharpest on-screen images ever seen. Read more here ~ https://www.minnkotamotors.com/news/article/minn-kota-launches-new-trolling-motors-built-mega-down-imaging A-Jay

Bucket List Mexico Trip
You can expect to go bass fishing in a place that has a HUGE population of 3-7 lb bass. There are also MANY 8-10 lb bass - and I mean Many. The lake is 25 miles long and five miles wide and is 30,000 acres at full pool. And it's still bass fishing so they don't jump into the boat. But the guides are fantastic and will put you on the fish. How many you catch & how big they are will always be better than anything you've ever seen and I can make that statement confidently. I've had 100 plus fish days & I've had 10 fish days . . Every trip I've made I've been fortunate enough to catch at least one over 10 lbs. Nothings guaranteed but there have been times there where our 'average fish' for the day was 8 lbs. Read that again. My personal Best is an 11 lb 11 ounce Tank caught on 11/11/2013 ~ Going in a big group can reduce the cost and if you are serious I can put you in contact with a man who organizes several a year and you can get more info. I went with one last year - it was fun. And just in case I wasn't clear previously - this is a fishing lodge - and there is nothing else to do there. A-Jay Here's a few from our last trip ~

Bucket List Mexico Trip
I have been to Lake Baccarac Lodge several times. The numbers & size of the Bass caught there has been well documented and in my mind remains unmatched. To answer you questions ~ What's the best time of year to catch a huge bass? Any time you can get there - Big fish catches happen all the time. Is there a "topwater season" ?? Again topwater opportunities are there early & late each day, but November can be especially good for topwater depending on the lake water level. Is one lake better than others? Can't say haven't been to any others. Is it family friendly? My wife and daughter don't like to fish. Is there anything else around for them to do if they go along? Lake Baccarac Lodged is situated at the top of a mountain pretty much in the middle of Bass Heaven which is also the middle on NOTHING Else - so there is Nothing to do except hammer Bass all day - Is it safe? Mexico isn't known for being a particularly safe travel destination lately. I've not had any problems. How long did you stay and how were the accommodations? The rooms are neat, clean & air conditioned, Food is good and we can dine outside overlooking the lake - Killer View. We usually fish 6 or 7 days but shorter trip are offered - IMO go for as long as you can - you'll be glad you did. btw - there's no reason to wait two years - Lodge opens again after the rainy season in October - see you there. Good fish scale?
@Steve1357 Here ya go ~ The top link is the unit I used initially. Worked OK - But the 'grips' are too small for 4 lb plus fish so I switched it out for the Rapala unit (second Link) which offers more 'grip space' and is definitely easier on the basses face. What to look for buying used trolling motor
Congrats on your new rig - It's going to be near impossible to deal out any advice here without knowing more about your rig & how it's set-up & wired. Either way, buying a used trolling motor can be a tricky proposition. Something that can really help though, is having a fair amount of knowledge about them going into it. Without it, one could be heading down a frustrating & possible costly path. A-Jay

Serenading my fishing partner into fishing with me tonight. It will work, right?
Interesting - Did I miss something ~ Did July turn suddenly become January ? And for a change of pace - when the word Fish or Fishing is replaced in the text above with the word Sleep or Sleeping, The whole thing seems to go in a totally different direction . . . A-Jay

Super Shallow Running/Floating Jerkbaits - Name Them
Thinking a little outside the box - The Rapala X-Rap Sub Walk is a major sleeper for skinny water or when you want a bait that runs just under the surface but doesn't float to the top at rest. Not talked about, apparently not popular, doesn't seem to be fished much - but is a killer bait. Especially the Moss Back Shiner ~ Just say'in. A-Jay

What is your go-to most versatile line?
I'd go 30 lb Sufix 832 braid and use leaders to match the situation (if needed). And if I 'had to' - with a 7 ft M/H casting stick could be semi-effective throwing most anything most anywhere - except into or over very heavy cover & or the slop. But whatever you do - do not tell this guy. As this is an extremely touchy subject with him. Really. A-Jay

Filming Your Fishing Trips
I've been getting video of my trips for a few season now. Been fortunate enough to capture some of my most memorable fish catches on video and it's been fun to share them. Once I had a few 'libraries of season' the videos have been very helpful to be able to look back to see what I did where & especially when. Works like a log as much of 'the details' are right there. Perhaps what I do enjoy most is that I can capture 'photos' right from the video. As we all know fishing alone & taking pictures of your catch can be challenging. This makes it very easy. Like just about any endeavor, you most likely get out of it, what you put into it. However, with a little planning & forethought, you may be able to get the fish of a life time recorded and have some fun while you're doing it. I say go for it. A-Jay
