  1. Old Marble Eyes ~ A-Jay
  2. Took the Old Town Canoe out for the first time this season. Visited a little local multi –species lake. Had a decent day. Excitement started early as I almost clipped a deer on the way (happened to be running the GoPro at the time too). Expected the prevailing technique to be a drop-shot, but the wind ended up blowing a bit which kept a few fish shallow(er) & willing to chew. The Z-Man Jack Hammer vibrating jig & Zako Trailer was the star of the show today. A few LMB, SMB & even several Walleye were all whacking the fire out of it. Good Times. A-Jay
  3. Not in the trailer hook camp. A-Jay
  4. We can add the Z-Man Jack Hammer to the list ~ A-Jay
  5. Like the 'Orvis Casual' look ~ Nice Smallies too . . . A-Jay
  6. The new Owner Block Head Jig Head may be the best of the ned rig options out right now. It's been very good for me. https://www.ownerhooks.com/product/blockhead/ Available at many retailers. A-Jay

  10. Yea - I hear ya. I'm booked to head south of the border again right about that time as well. Might work out where they can mount the new motor & rig it up while I'm hooking Mutant green bass and sipping Margarita's. Then I can run it around when it get back for a couple of weeks before putting her up for the season. Plenty can change between now & then so we'll play it as it comes. A-Jay

  13. Dealer called today. Delivery date was 'updated' by Mercury Marine this morning. "18 Weeks" is the word I'm getting now. Pushes it back into October . . . Hoping to get a least a couple of weeks to run it & get the prop right before hard water. Glad I ordered it quickly, any hesitation may have had me waiting until 2019 . . . . A-Jay
  14. Have only been on that one in the Old Town Canoe. Can't really help too much . . . A-Jay
  15. Sort of ~ I didn't pour the heads but I make my own skirts to match the local bait. I also add them to jigs, spinnerbaits & vibrating jigs. A-Jay
  16. The Pre-Spawn and spawn may be for the most part over in your area. During those phases, many fish were staying shallow most all day. So they were find you. Those same fish may only be shallow now sporadically throughout the day (and night). So now you have to find them. The baits you've had success with in the past are still viable & effective options. Just not in the same places. Where ever the bass in your lake were during the very early pre-spawn, there's a good chance they are back there right now just waiting for you. Go get them. Good Luck. 17. Yes. As the blade(s) spin in the water, they shake or vibrate the wire that they're connected to. That's what your feeling up the line & then through your rod. It's a good thing as this is one of the main attracting qualities of that bait. Get in tune with that vibration, it will help you become a better angler. If it stops, you either have a bait that's fouled by weeds OR a Fish. At that point ~ Set The Hook ! A-Jay

Always such a highly debated topic. So many insightful responses. Like many have posted here, I've had situations where colored really seemed to matter and other's where it didn't appear that the color of the presentation was the major triggering factor. So does that mean color matters or does that mean it doesn't ? I honestly don't know. What I will say is that when I feel like I'm fishing "the right color" I definitely fish more confidently. When I feel confident, I believe I focus more, fish cleaner, and am willing to fish harder & longer to get bit - (#stubborn). That can & often does equate to more or bigger bass and every once in a while - both. So in that sense, Color is important to me. I also know that when I've been doing well on a certain color, and I run out on the water, initially, I'm not feel too sporty about having my success continue. Sometimes it does, often it does not. Is that because of the color or my lack of confidence ? I can't say. All of this is one reason why I USED TO totally switch it up right in the middle of a bite to see if they'll eat something else. I do Not do this any more. You can probably guess why. Good Topic A-Jay

  21. I'd venture to guess that if we were to switch the 'good sticks' of yesteryear, with the successful anglers of today, each would still be ahead of the pack; regardless of the equipment or the decade. All things being equal, bassheads either 'have it'- or they don't. And 'it' may be (but certainly is not limited to) love of the sport, patience, commitment, dedication, determination, willingness to put time on the water and that innate, instinctual & built into their DNA, ability to locate & catch Bass. None of that is available in any retail outlets I know of. A-Jay
  22. Well my gym is down stairs so that's out . . . . And my wife's all about my fishing. I'll often get the "You need to go fishing" line. Which now that I think about it, may or may not be that good . . . . A-Jay
  23. Sweet ~ Congrats A-Jay
  24. Some solid info on it here ~ A-Jay
