Yup - Big Green bass - especially up that way, are not common. Something to keep in mind is that with so much productive water close by (including The Darn GREAT LAKES) the few bassheads that do target greenies are fairly spread out. All of that is a good thing in my world. Didn't see the KVD 'tantrum' - doesn't sound like his usual demeanor. Somethings up. Still glad I missed it. Finally as for the Pro-V Bass, I run that T-H Marine Cloaking Device pretty regular. Usually clicking along on like 7 or 8. I'm not afraid to even mash that button down to a 10 when the bites on good. So that might es-plain it. A-Jay

I'm looking for the answers to basically three questions from each location I fish: What depth are the bass using ? Are they in an Active, Neutral or Negative mood ? And how far are they willing to come / move to eat my bait ? The number of casts used to determine each always depends on the answers. Could be as little as one or it could be and has been in the past, many many, many more. A-Jay

Both my units are flush mounted which could reduce the likely hood of smashing one on a cast, but why chance it. Like my (much) better half likes to say "That never happens - Until it does." A-Jay

My waters range from 3 miles to about 100 miles away. Travel time is relative to traffic & terrain. (and my version of traffic here is 2 or more vehicles at a stop sign ) Don't necessarily have to go the distance to get the best action. The decision of where to go is often dictated by the weather (mostly wind) and the season. Early & late in the year has me beating up on the closer more local population. For the heat of the Summer & night ops - anything goes. Sometimes the tipping point goes back to the fact that the bigger water routinely produces the bigger fish. (None of this includes international fishing trip travel). A-Jay

Killer Day Congrats A-Jay

Launching & recovering a boat solo can be a little tricky depending on where & when one does it. If that's something you'll be doing routinely, there may be a happy medium regarding size that could come into play - especially until you gain some experience. So bigger may not be better right there. All things considered, one may be able to apply many of the same considerations when picking a boat and it's size as one might for a vehicle. Needs to fit who'll be riding in it. Larger ones often offer a 'better ride'. Larger ones certainly have more storage. New ones often don't have the challenges that used ones have. New ones come with warranties - some used do not. Large ones cost more all the way around. Large ones are less forgiving in tight quarters but are better for 'long rides'. Good Luck A-Jay

This weekend's weather for the Superbowl of bass fishing is interesting. Friday's forecast see's intervals of clouds & sunshine with air temps up to 70 degrees with a 10-15 mph Westerly wind. Saturday's temps expected to drop 20 degrees to the low 50's with an East wind, overcast skies & 50% chance of RAIN. ENE winds 5-10 mph. For the Final day on Sunday, should / could see the sunshine again (with some scattered clouds) and air temps rebounding back up into the mid-60's. The wind is expected to back around to NNE by again stay near the 5-10 mph mark. Certainly not 'stable' conditions, sort of seasonal, and not nearly as brutally cold as the last Classic here where the first day launch temps were brutally cold. I think single digits if I remember correctly. This forecast appears a whole lot more fishable. Could see more fish shallow. Be interested to see how Casey Ashley's deep brush pile bites go over these there days. Got that part - My concern revolved around tilts where a cut weigh was in effect and the timing of two separate catches. So the judges utilize the time the fish first is over the rail as time "caught" rather than the time it's added to the score tracker. A-Jay

Yea - I was mostly being facetious. Never did try the red line myself. Besides being happy with what I was using - the red did seem a bit wacky to me. But I bet it'd work at night ~ A-Jay

I've used Green Big Game Mono for everything for a LOOOONG time. Caught fish doing it. Then suddenly a few years back - "They" said, all bass have became 'line shy' - Never could understand or explain why. Still, strangely enough, that dern green mono still kept right on catching fish ~ how can that be ? The world may never know. BTW - Is there a line that doesn't catch fish ?
