Yellow perch and smallmouth.
I know the feeling - I broke down and geared up with a fly rod. Super fun and something I look forward to every summer. When the bite is on - it's totally ridiculous. #suicidalbass A-Jay

Regardless of how many batteries you decide to go with, having them all (including the cranker) connected to and getting juice from your installed battery charger is a solid plan. Additionally, this product can offer peace of mind as well. https://no.co/products/power/jumpstarters A-Jay

Yellow perch and smallmouth.
In my local waters here in north MI - yellow perch (and crayfish) make up 95 % of the carcasses found in my live well at the end of most every smallie trip; regardless of the time of year. I don't fight it or over think it - Usually pays off. A-Jay

Titanium leader rigging....
I use this product ~ Simply tie it to your main line & to your bait. (or attach a swivel or clip as needed) No sleeves / crimps needed. Works great ! A-Jay

Fletchers Floodwaters Approach
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I'm over in Otsego County and have some experience and limited success there. (not 12 years though) That body of water gets a fair amount of pressure and presents a unique & challenging type of fishing. Some of my better days have come on swimjigs w/ small paddletail or swim senko trailer and a Vibrating Jig (same type of trailer). When the conditions are right (which is a good percentage of the time for me) crawling a jig & craw around can get your string pulled. A paddletail on a lightly weighted (or unweighted) hook rigged Tex-pose, is an effective option and one that can be fished around, over & through most all of the cover that place presents. Finally, in reference to your statement about cranks getting hung up on stumps - there's no doubt that is a routine occurrence - HOWEVER it's just about The Best way to trigger a bite. (especially that time of year) The place is tailor made for squarebills. Having some type of plug knocker or lure retriever is called for. While but a handful of bassheads are willing to 'deal' with it ~ they're the 10% catching 'the bigger' bass. Using stout gear to move determined fish and strong mono (not fluorocarbon) helps keep the bait up a bit; but you really want to be BANGING INTO that stuff. If you're around them, you'll know it. Good Luck A-Jay

Don't have first hand experience for this particular rig, industry standard see trolling motors as stand alone unit on the battery(s) and all accessories run off the cranker. A-Jay

Connect them all with the cable to travel in a line, put a honking treble hook on the last one and tow it behind your rig for mutant Muskie ! You did mention you we looking to fish a newly invented rig. Well here ya go - presenting "The Kansas Quad Mallard Rig" . . . . A-Jay

Any michigan guys here
Yea - I did see that. You know I like to catch a fat brown bass now & then, so I enjoyed that one quite a bit. And I REALLY APPRECIATE that there was no mention of where they where at. Besides having world class smallie fishing, it's also quite beneficial that once on the water, most all the lakes up here look pretty much the same. Did someone say 'paint a tube ?' A-Jay
